KNPC on U.S.-S. Korean war games against DPRK
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- The Korean National Peace Committee published a statement on Tuesday denouncing the United States and the South Korean authorities for their large-scale military exercises against North Korea.
The statement said the war maneuvers evidently prove that the U.S. and the South Korean ruling quarters are scheming to finally finish their preparations for an invasion of the north and make a surprising attack on the DPRK any moment.
Owing to the dangerous war moves, the thick clouds of war are hanging over and touch-and-go situation is prevailing in the Korean peninsula, the statement said, and went on:
The facts clearly show that "dialogue" and "peace", "reconciliation" and "cooperation" on the lips of the U.S. and the South Korean authorities are a lie and that they seek only confrontation and war.
The United States and the South Korean authorities are trying to bring the Korean people with military threat and pressure and war moves to their knees and gratify their aggressive design, but in vain.
They must not run amuck but stop their reckless war moves at once.
If they continue resorting to the anti-DPRK confrontation and war moves in despite of the condemnation and protest of all the Korean people and the world's peaceloving people, they will face only disgraceful destruction and death.

CPRF on S. Korean rulers' opening doors to Japanese culture
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland (CPRF) published a statement on Tuesday as regards South Korea's opening doors to Japanese culture.
Describing the opening as one more pro-Japanese flunkeyist treachery, the statement said:
On October 20 the South Korean rulers decided to totally lift the ban on import of Japanese culture and allowed the introduction of Japan's films, video tapes and cartoon films into South Korea.
This is a declaration of the humiliating open-door policy toward Japan and an anti-national crime intended to gratify their foul political greed and secure an easy and comfortable life by selling the dignity and interests of the nation to outsiders.
The South Korean chief executive has defined it as a "policy" to open doors to Japan, which the preceding rulers dared not do. This fully reveals that he is a notorious pro-Japanese element as well as an out-and-out pro-American element.
It is an indelible crime that the South Korean rulers are turning South Korea into a dark land where national identity has been eradicated by the Japanese way of life as well as the western style.
The history and the nation will never pardon the unprecedented criminal acts of the South Korean rulers who are repeating the crime of "five traitors of 1905" and make them pay for them.
The South Korean rulers should stop opening doors to Japan's culture at once, mindful that such heinous flunkeyist acts will lead to their own destruction.
Absurd remarks of provokers = KCNA commentary =
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities are groundlessly provoking the north in a foolish attempt to attain their insidious purpose.
The "Minister of National Defence," Chon Yong Thaek, in his reply to "inspection of the administration of the ministry by the Parliamentary National Defence Committee" on October 23 prattled again that "the north is the very sworn enemy" and "there are possibilities for the north to start an all-out war."
In its "report on "inspection of administration by the parliament," the "ministry" contended that "the army should be in full readiness to cope with the north's possible military provocations against the south."
"Provocation" and "all-out war" on their lips are a reckless rigmarole aimed at finding a pretext to unleash a war against the north.
We have so far striven to ensure lasting peace and stability on the Korean peninsula, and there will be no change in this position.
However, their clamourings about "all-out war" and "provocation against the south" are like a thief crying "stop thief."
If the South Korean authorities finally provoke a war against the north despite our repeated warnings, we will deal a telling blow at the aggressors.
Fireball should be thrown away = KCNA commentary =
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- Kang In Dok, South Korea's "Minister of National Unification", said in "inspection of administration by the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs and Trade Committee" that they would give "priority to security." he also prattled that the "north might provoke a military action" and it is "urgent to weaken its military power," the South Korean newspaper Hankuk Ilbo reported recently.
His absurd allegation is intended to step up their arms buildup under the pretext of the north's "possible military provocation" and disarm the north and undermine its system.
Kang's utterance about "priority to security" fully reveals their true colors as warmaniacs who try to find a way of their existence in invasion of the north. This shows how frantically they are trying to unleash a war.
Now, large-scale criminal war exercises "'98 Foal Eagle" and "'98 Hwarang" are being staged in South Korea, bringing the situation on the Korean peninsula to the brink of war.
Therefore, the South Korean authorities' clamourings about "priority to security" cannot be viewed as accidental.
They are a very dangerous slogan of aggressive war like a declaration of war against the north.
Unpardonable are Kang's remarks that for "priority to security" it is "urgent to weaken the north's military strength" and, to this end, to keep the north's power from governing people at its will."
His rigmarole seeks a foolish attempt to break the rockfirm, singlehearted unity of the party, army and masses in the north.
The South Korean authorities should throw away the fireball, mindful that they are to pay dearly for their foolish attempt to stifle the north with "strength."

Tanso - national musical instrument
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- Tanso is a bamboo flute with five stops for a pentatonic scale. Its sounds are clear and melancholic. Recently it has been reformed on a twelve-tone scale for modulation. Thus it has come to have a larger volume and ranges of sound, with a greater possibility of expression.
Its sound range is divided into lower, low, high, and higher. The lower part produces a soft sound, the low part gives off a graceful and melancholic sound, the high part a clear sound and the higher part a sharp sound.
Tanso can be used for both lyric and fast, cheerful melodies. Its vibration and flowing sound is unique for expressing different feelings, for example, the note of birds and the murmur of river. This high-pitch instrument is used for solo, and also makes a good harmony with other types of traditional wind instruments in ensemble and for accompaniment.
