WPK praised by foreign party leaders
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), the guiding force of the Korean people, has become the invincible banner of victory in the struggle for building socialism and achieving the reunification of the country under the wise leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
Foreign party leaders stressed this in their congratulatory messages sent on the occasion of the 53rd birthday of the WPK.
Leaders of political parties and organizations in Bangladesh said that the WPK is firmly defending socialism, chosen by itself at the time of its foundation, even under the present grim situation in which socialism and communist and workers' parties collapsed in some countries and an anti-socialist storm is blowing.
Vasile Orleanu, chairman of the Socialist Party of Romania, said that the WPK played and is playing an important role in the international communist and working class movement and its consistent and valiant struggle is an example to be followed by his party which is fighting against the imperialist and other reactionary forces and for the rebuilding of socialism.
General Secretary of the Revolutionary Socialist Party of Peru Guzman Rivera Castaneda and General Secretary of the C.C., the Communist Party of Peru (Red Motherland) Alberto Moreno said that the WPK, the centre representing workers, peasants and intellectuals, has developed into a militant and powerful party.

U.S. imperialists' aerial espionage on DPRK
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialist warmaniacs committed aerial espionage on the DPRK with strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes on different missions on more than 160 occasions in October, according to military sources.
Aerial espionage by u-2 high-altitude strategic reconnaissance plane numbered more than 30.
Overseas-based P-3 antisubmarine patrol plane committed espionage on the DPRK for four days and RC-135 strategic reconnaissance plane for two days.
Four RC-12 tactical reconnaissance planes were engaged in aerial espionage for two days.
This shows that the U.S. imperialist warmaniacs' preparations for a war against the DPRK have entered into an extremely reckless stage.
Rodong Sinmun on war games in S. Korea
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Warmaniacs at home and abroad staged a U.S.-South Korea joint military rehearsal on October 24 with Yokosuka, Japan, as a commanding post. On the 26th, they began "'98 Foal Eagle" joint manoeuvres and "'98 Hwarang" war exercise against the DPRK in South Korea and surrounding waters.
Commenting on them, a news analyst of Rodong Sinmun today says:
The three-dimensional war games which are being staged simultaneously on the ground and in the sky and seas are a direct threat to and a grave provocation against the DPRK because they are very adventurous ones which assume an unprecedented danger in form and method, scope and content.
The United States and the successive South Korean rulers have never staged such war exercises of various names simultaneously in a diversified and three-dimensional way.
Involved in the war games are the U.S. troops present in South Korea and Japan and over 1.1 million army and irregular armed forces of South Korea and uptodate attack means and operational equipment including Kitty Hawk, a main aircraft carrier of the U.S. 7th Fleet.
In the war manoeuvres, the warmaniacs at home and abroad seek to give a finishing touch to war preparations which have been stepped up and finally make a surprise strike at the DPRK.
They are precisely a test war and preliminary war.
We cannot but take a self-defensive measure against the war games.
The United States and the South Korean rulers had better ponder over the serious consequences to be entailed by the war games.
Japanese reactionaries' anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon moves denounced
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union published a statement on Friday denouncing the Japanese reactionaries' frantic rackets against the DPRK and Chongryon (General Association of Korean Residents in Japan).
The statement said:
The Japanese reactionaries let right-wing gangsters make attacks on Chongryon organs at all levels, make assaults on Korean compatriots in Japan almost every day, attack and set fire to the Chiba Prefecture headquarters hall of Chongryon and mercilessly murder an official of Chongryon.
The statement bitterly condemned their moves as a grave provocation against the DPRK and an unpardonable crime of ruthlessly trampling underfoot and encroaching upon the national dignity and democratic rights of the Korean compatriots in Japan.
Their anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon rackets will add a new crime to the arch crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists against the Korean people in the past, the statement said.
It continued:
If the Japanese reactionaries continue resorting to the anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon moves in defiance of our warnings, we will inflict a merciless punishment on them.
The statement expressed the belief that the world progressive people and women's organisations will more vehemently denounce the anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon moves of the Japanese authorities.

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- A press conference took place at the Pyongyang mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) on October 30 to mark the 10th anniversary of its opening.
At the press conference chief Pak Kwang Gi of the Pyongyang mission of the NDFSK recalled the opening of the mission on October 31, Juche 77 (1988) and reviewed various activities it conducted over the last ten years.
The loving care of the President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il for the Pyongyang mission of NDFSK is a revelation of noble love for the country and the nation of the two leaders to provide the 70 million fellow countrymen with a gift of national reunification at an early date, he said, and continued: the loving care will shine long in history of the revolutionary movement of NDFSK and patriotic-minded people of all walks of life.
The brilliant realities of North Korea which is making a long drive without wavering in the face of the never-ceasing campaign of the imperialists to isolate and stifle the DPRK eloquently prove that victory and glory are guaranteed only by the heartfelt loyalty to the great leader.
The Pyongyang mission of NDFSK will work harder to discharge its important mission and tasks, carry through the instructions of the President on national reunification and the five-point policy of great national unity laid down by the marshal and bring earlier the glorious day when the country is reunified, Pak Kwang Gi added.

LDP tries to possess intelligence satellite
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The Japanese Nihon Keizai Shimbun on October 27 said that the ruling Liberal Democratic Party of Japan is getting over-heated in its moves to possess an intelligence satellite, according to a report.
The LDP "team for planning intelligence satellite" led by the President of its foreign affairs research council worked out an "overture" for introducing an intelligence satellite, the paper said. The "overture," which was announced on Oct. 26, cried for possessing an independent intelligence satellite to be used for reconnaissance on military facilities for the "purpose" of "preventing threat and crisis beforehand".
It also mentioned "urgency" of satellite introduction and called for examining the purchase of the satellite or introduction of technology from the United States in order to introduce it till the year 2002 at the latest and requested the government to include the funds for introducing the satellite in the third supplementary budget of the present fiscal year or the budget of the next fiscal year, the paper reported.
This shows how frantically the Japanese reactionaries are running amuck in the wake of the DPRK's launch of an artificial satellite.
Vain attempt
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Of late the Voice of America brought to light what had been discussed at secret talks held in wake island of the pacific between the then U.S. President and the then commander of the "UN forces" on October 15, 1950.
The talks focused on the Korean War, and at the talks Macarthur suggested that the Korean War should be expanded to Manchuria and China and that the U.S. should be entitled to use an atomic bomb in the war, the radio said.
Rodong Sinmun today, commenting on this, says:
The talks prove that the U.S. was and is a wrecker of peace and security in Asia, including the Korean peninsula, as well as the prime mover of aggression.
Nearly half a century has passed since then. The U.S. imperialists' wild ambition for invasion of Korea still remains unchanged, though. The U.S. seeks to provoke another Korean War, use a nuclear weapon without hesitation to conquer the whole of Korea and commit aggression on Asia with the region as its springboard.
Another Korean War may break out any moment in the Korean peninsula as a result of the new war provocation moves of the U.S. and South Korea.
If a war breaks out, it will soon spread beyond the boundary of Korea.
The DPRK and the U.S. are in a state of war.
A war may break out at moment unless there is a peace accord between the two countries and unless the U.S. withdraws its troops and nuclear arms.
The U.S. wild ambition for domination over Korea and Asia cannot be realised at all. The u.s. Should be aware of this and make a bold decision concerning the signing of a peace accord with the DPRK and the withdrawal of its forces.
