Wild fruit tree section built in arboretum of Kumsusan area

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- A section of wild fruit trees is taking shape in the arboretum of the Kumsusan area. Sections of ornamental needle-leaf trees and oil-bearing trees, fibber and pulp-wood forests and timber forests have already been laid out in the arboretum. The work for creating forests of wild fruit trees is now progressing on at the final stage. In the last 15 days, over 12,000 wild fruit trees of 70 odd species growing across the country were transplanted there. Officials of ministries of the cabinet and national institutions and Pyongyang citizens transplanted chestnut, wild pear, schizandra chinensis and other wild fruit trees to the arboretum from different provinces. Local officials and working people, too, planted wild fruit trees indigenous to their residential areas in the arboretum.

Invited to the film show were charge d'affaires of Romania in Korea Neculai Cotlogut and embassy officials. Present there were vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Ri Song Ho, officials concerned and working people in the city. Presence of U.S. troops can never be justified = KCNA commentary =

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Department of Defense reportedly announced a "report on east Asia strategy" on November 23. The report stated that the United States would maintain 100,000 troops in Asia to "cope with North Korea's military threat." The troops would be kept even after the reunification of the north and the south in the Korean peninsula, especially for regional stability. This intolerable argument only reveals the U.S. insidious intention to gratify its design for military domination. The United States again clamoured about "military threat" of the DPRK in a bid to justify the presence of 100,000 troops in Asia. It is a brigandish logic. There is no denying the fact that military threat comes not from the DPRK but from the United States engaging itself in continued war games against the north. This year alone, the U.S. and the South Korean authorities have ceaselessly staged war exercises including "'98 Foal Eagle" large-scale joint military exercises, posing a grave threat to peace and stability in east Asia as well as the Korean peninsula. The facts show that the U.S. intention to stifle the DPRK with strength and dominate Asia remains unchanged and that the U.S. troops are the very one who brings military tension to the region. Worse still, the United States recently "founded" a "non-proliferation mobile strike force" allegedly to "cope with the DPRK's proliferation of mass destructive weapons" in coordination with the South Korean authorities. The "foundation" of the force, timing to coincide with the continued U.S.-South Korea war exercises, will undoubtedly aggravate the situation of the Korean peninsula. Therefore, the regional tension can never be eased as long as the United States keeps its troops in South Korea and persists in its moves to stifle the DPRK. The U.S. should give up its insidious intention to establish military domination over Asia, taking issue with the DPRK, and unconditionally withdraw all its aggression forces from the region.

Anti-north war hysterics of warmongers

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson today denounces the actual maneuvers launched by the South Korean authorities in the northern part of Kyonggi Province on November 24 allegedly to recover combat power as hysterics to step up preparations for a war against the north. The news analyst says: The ongoing maneuvers designed to send reserve forces to "frontline" mean that the South Korean authorities serve as a shock brigade for the execution of the adventurous anti-north war strategy of the U.S. Their anti-national criminal attempt to unleash a war against the fellow countrymen with the backing of foreign aggression forces cannot be tolerated at all. If they continue rushing headlong along the road of unleashing an anti-north war, they will certainly meet bitterer destruction than their predecessors'.

U.S. hard-liners warned not to run amuck

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- The U.S. conservative hard-liners are insisting on the increase of "deterrent force" and the establishment of a "missile defence" system allegedly to cope with the DPRK's "proliferation of missiles." Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun today says: Their insistence came after the "'98 Foal Eagle" joint military exercise, a joint naval military drill and a combined training for joint operation were ceaselessly held in and around South Korea between the United States and South Korea and between the U.S. and Japan. This is a deliberate act of adding fuel to the tense situation of the Korean peninsula which has been driven to the brink of war. The U.S. conservative hard-liners are attaching top priority to the Korea strategy in the execution of their strategy for world domination. What they seek in this is to bring the whole of the Korean peninsula under the sphere of their influence and, with it as a springboard, attain their strategical purpose of establishing domination over Asia without much difficulty. If they earnestly want to make military confrontation with us, we will also readily turn out in the final battle. If a war of aggression is unleashed, a strong counterattack will certainly be launched.

Brutal outrages against pro-reunification patriots

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- The South Korean rulers on Nov. 13 rearrested Ri Hye Jong, a "bird of hope for reunification," and Kim Sam Sok on the strength of the "law on supervision for public peace." Ri visited the northern half of the country three years ago and Kim served a prison term on charges of involvement in the "brother and sister spying case." Commenting on this fact, Rodong Sinmun today says: This is not only a brutal crackdown on the two persons but also a grave challenge to broad pro-reunification, pro-democracy forces in South Korea. It can be made only by tyrants and enemies, clean indifferent to democracy and reunification. In divided Korea, proud patriots are those who devote themselves to national reunification, and the suppression of such patriots is a heinous crime. The South Korean ruling quarters must release at once all the unreasonably arrested patriots, including Hwang Son, Ri Hye Jong and Kim Sam Sok.

Korean people's struggle for reunification supported

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej said, when receiving credentials from Chon Jae Hong, newly-appointed ambassador E.P. of the DPRK on Nov. 21, that he hoped the Korean people would make new successes in their efforts for national reunification and that Korea would be reunified at an early date in conformity with its people's desire. He said that the government and people of Thailand will do their best to further expand and develop the relations between the two countries in all fields in conformity with the desire of the two governments and peoples. Nepalese Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Girija Prasad Koirala met Korean ambassador to Nepal Kim Thae Jong on Nov. 17, and expressed the belief that Korea will further prosper under the wise guidance of General Secretary Kim Jong Il and surely make success in the efforts for achieving national reunification and overcoming natural disaster. He said that the Nepalese government and people will always fully support the DPRK government and people's proposals and efforts for national reunification. He expressed the belief that Korea's independent and peaceful reunification will certainly be achieved and that reunified Korea will become a powerful country.

Korean books donated to Sri Lanka

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- Korean books were donated to Sri Lanka with due ceremony on Nov. 15. The Korean ambassador handed famous works of the President Kim Il Sung and Marshal Kim Jong Il to the general secretary of the Ceylon Trade Union Federation. The general secretary said that he was happy to have received those valuable works, and stressed that the federation will extend its full support and solidarity to the Korean people's struggle for national reunification.

DPRK Socialist Constitution praised abroad

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- Personages of different countries praised the DPRK Socialist Constitution as the most revolutionary and popular constitution. Chairman of the Central Control Commission of the C.C, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) S. Mukherjee said in a statement on Nov. 9 that the socialist constitution carries the Korean people's steadfast revolutionary will and determination to uphold the President Kim Il Sung, the founder of the socialist Korea, as the eternal President of the DPRK and to accomplish his revolutionary cause under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il. Patrick Diel, first vice-chairman of the Guyanese National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea of Comrade Kim Il Sung and professor of the University of Guyana, said that the constitution of the DPRK is a socialist and revolutionary one each article of which is the embodiment of the Juche idea of the President Kim Il Sung. The socialist constitution of the DPRK is the most popular constitution that is easy to understand and that reflects the independent rights and interests of the popular masses, he said. Symposiums and lecture meetings on the Korean Socialist Constitution were held from Nov. 12 to 19 by a Guyanese Group for the Study of Comrade Kim Jong Il's Idea of Youth Movement, the Group for the Study of Kimjongilism of the Amerindian Action Movement, the Group for the Study of the Juche Idea of Comrade Kim Il Sung of Teachers of the Golden Grove Primary School and the Torchlight Taekwondo Group for the Study of the Juche Idea of Comrade Kim Il Sung.

What is way for dispelling "suspicion"? = KCNA commentary =

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities are following the lead of the U.S. in making much ado about non-existent "suspicion of nuclear facility" in the DPRK. Kang In Dok, "Minister of National Unification", reportedly said on November 24 that "they would do their utmost to probe the nature of a suspected underground nuclear facility in Kumchang-ri in close cooperation with a country concerned." The "suspected underground nuclear facility in Kumchang-ri" of the U.S. own making is a fiction. Needless to say, the fiction is a product of the U.S. sinister political attempt to conceal what it seeks in dragging its feet in the implementation of the DPRK-U.S. framework agreement and shift the blame for it onto the DPRK. Kang's crying for "verifying the suspected nuclear facility" can not be construed otherwise than an anti-national, pro-American flunkeyist act of the separatist who seeks confrontation with the north, as well as one more provocation to the DPRK. The South Korean authorities should stop raising a hue and cry over north's "nuclear suspicion," admit their anti-national, anti-peace crimes committed by asking for the U.S. "nuclear umbrella" and exposing the Korean peninsula to the danger of a nuclear war and work hard to get the U.S. troops withdrawn from South Korea. Only then, can the dispute over "nuclear suspicion" be settled.

S. Korean authorities satirized

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- South Korean publications carried cartoons satirizing the authorities' anti-social economic policy and pro-Japanese treacheries. The October 13 issue of Kyunghyang Daily News carried a cartoon titled "many people will be frozen pollacks." An Economist in the cartoon likened to "frozen pollack" many people who would freeze to death this year after losing their jobs owing to the anti-social policy of the government. A cartoon carried in a recent issue of the magazine news people portrayed a wretched boat symbolic of the government. The boat is wriggling to move forward in a rough sea, exposed in a heavy rain, but is doomed to be sent to the bottom by a mountain of wave called "IMF" (International Monetary Fund). Hangyore and other newspapers carried cartoons on a deepening gulf between the rich and the poor, worsening unemployment and the pro-Japanese treacheries of the present chief executive of South Korea.

Famous national art troupe

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- Creation of national art works suited to the spirit and taste of the times is briskly going on in Korea. The State National Art Troupe, which left deep impressions on the Asian Art Festival in October, plays an important role in the creation of national art. It is a famous art troupe which specially creates art works based on the national spirit and feelings. The troupe has produced 60-odd art works including the folk operas "Tale of Chun Hyang" and "Tale of Sim Chong" for over 50 years since its foundation. "Tale of Chun Hyang" exposes contradictions and absurdity of the status system of the old society in which existed the poor and the rich, and the noble and the mean, and shows the noble and beautiful ethics and morality of the Korean people through the depiction of Chun Hyang, who defends her pure love at the cost of her life. This opera was popular in Japan in Juche 79 (1990). The folk dance suit "people in walled city of Pyongyang" fully reflects the patriotic minds and life and customs of the Pyongyang people and their hopes for the future through peculiar folk dances and music. It is highly praised by foreigners as well as the Korean people. The troupe has created a lot of folk music and dance pieces. Among them are folk songs "Moran Hill" and "Let us go to mountain and sea" and folk dances "Enjoying the Moon," "Jaenggang Dance" and "Sword Dance" based on national characteristics adapted to the present feelings. The art troupe has over 500 creators and actors. Among them are more than 40 people's artistes, people's and merited actors and actresses. The troupe has visited over 60 foreign countries and contributed to the development of international cultural exchanges. The art troupe was awarded the "Kim Il Sung Order" for its great contribution to the development of nation's culture and art.

"Inspection" cannot be allowed = KCNA commentary =

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- U.S. conservative hard-liners are these days making provocative remarks that they have "appalling evidence" that an underground facility in the DPRK is for nuclear activity and that they will put "strong pressure upon the DPRK to accept an inspection." And they are intensifying joint cooperation with Japan and the South Korean rulers in their anti-DPRK racket. Worse still, the u.s. Defense department in a recent "report on U.S. security strategy for east Asia" said that they would "exercise military power" to prevent the DPRK from resuming "nuclear development." As seen above, developments are turning for the worse and the U.S. is putting tougher pressure upon the DPRK for its refusing to accept the "inspection." However, any "pressure" and "threat" will not break our determined position of principle. We declare once again that our underground facility is not related with nuclear activity and that, accordingly, we will not in the least allow any "inspection" of the facility. It is unimaginable that we, regarding our sovereignty as our life and soul, will meet the U.S. brigandish demand for "inspection" which is as good as searching other's house. To tell the truth, the suspicion of the "underground nuclear facility" was forged on the basis of false information provided by the "hard-liners of the U.S. Congress, Defense Department and Intelligence Agency" to find a pretext for breaking the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework. It is nothing but an offspring of their extreme anti-DPRK smear campaign. It is only too clear that we will not allow the u.s. "inspection" designed to confirm such false information. We would like to ask the United States why it is refusing to make compensation if it had "appalling evidence" of our "underground nuclear facility." We have made it clear that, taking into account the DPRK-U.S. relations, we may allow the United States to visit the place as an exception, provided it makes adequate compensation for groundlessly insulting us and impairing our prestige by branding our civilian facility as "nuclear-related facility." This is not a gamble but an expression of our fair and open stand that our underground facility has nothing to do with nuclear activity. The U.S. insistence on "inspection" in fear of compensation is nothing but a dastardly rigmarole of those who feel guilty for providing false information. No matter how frantically the united states may raise a hue and cry over "appalling evidence," turning a deaf ear to our fair position, it will never work on us. Even if the U.S. breaks the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework under such a pretext, we will not in the least care about it but will take our own way, freed from the yoke of the agreed framework which we have unilaterally implemented up to date. Particularly, if the U.S. "exercises military power," we will immediately take a self-defensive counteraction and make it pay dearly for its misbehavior.
