U.S. condemned for new war provocation moves

Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- Narayan Man Bijukchhe, chairman of the Central Committee of the Nepal Worker-Peasant Party, made public a statement on December 7 condemning the U.S. imperialists for new Korean war provocation moves. He said that the U.S. imperialists' war moves against peace-loving and socialist Korea are a daydream for emerging from crisis, and that no any strong country can stifle socialist Korea, guided by the Juche idea, by force of arms. He stressed that the Workers' Party, people and People's Army, of Korea led by the great Kim Jong Il, Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, will certainly smash the U.S. imperialists' war provocation moves. In a letter of protest sent to the U.S. embassy in Nepal on December 6 the Juche institute in Nepal lodged a strong protest with the U.S. government against war provocation moves, and urged the U.S. to sincerely work for replacing the present armistice agreement with a peace agreement and preserving a durable peace on the Korean peninsula.

Kim Jong Il's faith admired

Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- Political parties and organizations of many countries have fully supported the statement of the spokesman for the general staff of the Korean People's Army. In a joint appeal, the Asian Regional Committee to Support Korea's Reunification and Indian political parties and organizations expressed the conviction that the Korean people who love justice and peace will decisively foil the U.S. and its followers in anti-DPRK attempts and achieve the reunification of the country without fail, and extended positive support and solidarity to the Korean people's righteous struggle. The appeal scathingly condemned the U.S. imperialists' war moves, and said that the U.S. government must withdraw its troops from South Korea and immediately stop war moves against the DPRK. In an appeal to progressive political parties and organizations around the world, the Madagascar-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Committee called for expressing full support and solidarity with the unshakable faith of Marshal Kim Jong Il's invincible army that will answer fire with fire, a war with a war. The appeal called for decisively rejecting and opposing the U.S. imperialists' military presence and new war provocation moves lying on the way of peace and national reunification on the Korean peninsula.

Shameless rigmarole of kingpin of human rights violations =KCNA commentary=

Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- The present chief executive of South Korea is raising an outcry over "defence of human rights" with the approach of the World Human Rights Day. On December 10, he, addressing a "meeting held in Seoul to commemorate the universal declaration of human rights," vowed to enact a new "law on human rights" and set up a "human rights committee" in order to guarantee human rights both legally and institutionally. Earlier, on December 9, he said at "Chongwadae" that the "law on human rights" should be enacted not to tarnish the image of a state respecting human rights. His is a hypocritical rigmarole aimed to disguise a violator of human rights as a "defender of human rights." In South Korea the "National Security Law" and the "Agency for National Security Planning" notorious for suppressing the independent rights of the people legally and institutionally are left intact, and since the appearance of the present "government" the evil law and the fascist suppressive tools have been beefed up. As a consequence, the human rights of the people are ruthlessly violated. More than 300 patriots and democrats have been thrown behind bars as "prisoners of conscience" in nine months since the present ruler took office. This eloquently proves that the present authorities are arch-violators of human rights. The recent remarks of the South Korean chief executive bring into bolder relief his shamelessness as a violator of human rights. The South Korean chief executive should abolish the "NSL" and dismantle the "ANSP" before crying for the "defence of human rights."

True offender

Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comments on the provocative remarks of the chairman of the Joint Staff Council of the "Self-Defence Forces" of Japan that the DPRK's launch of an artificial satellite for the peaceful purpose is "proliferation of weapons of mass destruction" and "threat to regional security". This is an expression of the Japan's hostile policy to the DPRK and a dangerous action to push ahead with militaristic overseas aggression, a news analyst of the paper says, and goes on: The Japanese reactionaries, dreaming of turning Japan into a "military superpower," have stepped up the development of medium- and long-range missiles and nuclear weapons. They are also pushing ahead with the development of the "theatre missile defense system" and the plan of introducing spy satellites. They are going to conquer Asia and dominate the world with militarist armed forces. It is the Japanese reactionaries who are threatening the peace and security of Asia and creating a new arms race and war danger. If they persist in anti-DPRK rackets over the DPRK's satellite launch, the antagonistic relations between the DPRK and Japan will be turned into belligerent relations. The Japanese reactionaries should clearly know that they will be annihilated if they run amuck like a newborn puppy knowing no fear of the tiger, not clearly seeing pent-up grudge of the Korean people and our might.

Brutal suppression of public figures in S. Korea

Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- Police arrested vice-chairman Han Son Bae and six members of the Society of Young Workers with Love for the Nation on December 10, according to a radio report from Seoul. The reason for the violence is that they inaugurated the society in May 1995, studied the Juche Idea and sent members of the society to the pan-Korea rally and other rallies and demonstrations in pursuit of reunification.

S. Korean workers' struggle

Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- The Trade Union of the Seoul Subway rejected a mass layoff programme of the management on December 8, according to a radio report from Seoul. The trade union cried for the withdrawal of the programme, charging that the management worked out a "bill on manpower reduction" to cut more than 2,400 jobs at random. Unionists of 12 taxi companies in Chunchon, South Korean Kangwon Province, declared that they would go on an indefinite general strike on December 12.

War confab in S. Korea

Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- A "meeting of major commanding officers of the army", attended by the warmongers of and above division commander, reportedly was held in the presence of the chief of the general staff of the South Korean Army on December 10, which examined the "readiness" and discussed "main affairs to be stepped up" next year. The loud-mouthed "main affairs to be stepped up" next year include "establishment of military discipline" and improved combat power, establishment of preparedness for immediate counteraction and nine other things.

Korean People's Army will never miss opportunity

Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comments on misbehaviors of the United States, which is Seriously insulting the DPRK's honour and dignity, raising the issue of inspecting the DPRK's "underground nuclear facility" while the inspection is not mentioned in the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework. The commentary says: The situation of the Korean peninsula is extremely acute and the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework is at stake. The responsibility rests entirely with the United States. Four years have passed since the agreement was adopted and effectuated. But the United States has not faithfully implemented it although it talked much about the agreement. The construction of two light-water reactors which should be completed till 2003 has only started. The supply of heavy oil has not been made on a regular basis, with the result that there has been a great confusion in electric power production in the DPRK. None of the economic sanctions have been removed and military threat is getting more serious as the days go by. Originally, the Korean People's Army expected nothing from the agreement and had no interest in dialogue and negotiation through diplomatic channels. Now, the United States, throwing away the mask of "appeasement" and "engagement" which it had once worn for some time, is openly revealing its design to invade the DPRK, threatening to break the agreed framework and spreading a plan for the second Korean war. The present developments prove that the KPA's judgement and stand were completely correct. The KPA's anger has reached its limit, and it will never miss an opportunity this time. The United State will be held wholly responsible for consequences coming therefrom.

S. Korea, Japan accused of criminal moves

Tokyo, December 10 (KNS-KCNA) -- The Federation of South Koreans in Japan for Democracy and Unification (Hanthongryon), in the recently-held first meeting of its sixth central committee, criticized the South Korean authorities for anti-reunification moves. It also condemned the Japanese authorities for their campaign against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), according to Minjok Sibo, Japan-based newspaper published by Koreans. Speaking at the meeting, Hanthongryon chairman Kwak Tong Ui and others denounced the South Korean authorities for harshly suppressing the south headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils and other pro-democracy, patriotic forces. They called upon all the compatriots to join in the struggle for the abolition of the "National Security Law," the release of prisoners of conscience and for independence, democracy and national reunification. A special resolution was adopted at the meeting. It censured the Japanese reactionaries for the persecution of Chongryon organizations and Koreans in Japan and urged them to make an apology to the victims, arrest and punish criminals, admit the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past, apologize and atone for the crimes.

Eight million young people wait for order

Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- Eight million youth and students in Korea have burning hatred for the U.S. imperialist aggressors and the spirit to annihilate them. Indignation meetings of youth and students were held one after another in different parts of the country. A national meeting of 50,000 youth and students was held to express the resolute will of the Korean youth not to miss an opportunity to annihilate the U.S. imperialist wolves on the earth if they encroach on an inch of the country. At an indignation meeting of youth and students in Pyongyang, young people of the capital city expressed their resolution to display the might of youth vanguards, the rising generation, in the fighting against the U.S. imperialists if they are given an order by Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il. The brass band and singing squad march made by 15,000 schoolchildren in Pyongyang at Kim Il Sung Square showed the masculine and courageous features of the Korean schoolchildren who are ready to become human bombs. Young people who are building the Pyongyang-Nampho express highway removed over 100,000 cubic metres of earth in a few days with the will to give a blow of iron-like fist to the U.S. imperialists. Labour Hero Ryu Sung Nam, head of the "Cha Kwang Su Youth Shock Brigade" of the Anju Area Coal Complex, rouses young people to a sacred war to annihilate the enemy, saying that he can be a match for a hundred Yankees. Students of Kim Il Sung University, Wonsan University of agriculture and other universities across the country evinced their resolution to turn out in a sacred war for defending the fatherland, changing their pens for weapons if the U.S. imperialists unleash a war.

Minju Joson warns against U.S. provocative acts

Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Defense Department spokesman and the commander-in-chief of the U.S. armed forces in the pacific, clamouring about non-existent "provocation" and "threats" by the DPRK, said that the United States is ready to chastise them. Commenting on this fact, a news analyst of Minju Joson today says: U.S. warmongers are hell bent on igniting a war, losing reason. Availing ourselves of this opportunity, we clarify our stand. "Chastisement" is precisely aggression and war. If the United States awfully wants war and confrontation with us, we do not oppose. We are ready to wage a decisive fight with the United States before the world. Although the U.S. mobilizes not only its troops present in South Korea and all its armed forces in the mainland and overseas bases but also its followers, we will never miss the opportunity to wreak our pent-up wrath as much as we want. The U.S. will only be made forlorn wandering spirits in confrontation with us. Regret will not mend matters. The U.S. conservative hard-liners should clearly know that our repeated warnings are not empty words and stop their reckless war moves against the DPRK at once.

Rodong Sinmun on human rights violation in S. Korea

Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- The South Korean chief executive appeared at a "commemorative meeting" held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of "Universal Declaration of Human Rights." He pretended to be a "defender of human rights," saying that he will try to make the human rights "ensured legally and institutionally." Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun today says: All his utterances are a shameless rigmarole to conceal the reality of South Korea, the worst graveyard of human rights in the world, and improve his public image. The notorious "National Security Law" and the fascist "Agency for National Security Planning" are legal and institutional mechanisms that violate human rights. When he was at an opposition party, he also demanded the repeal of the law and the dissolution of the agency. However, after grasping power, the ruling quarters styling their regime a "government of people" refused their removal, saying that it is "immature." on the contrary, they increased their power and role. They even adopted a "system pledging the observance of law" which is a replica of the notorious "ideological recantation system." Besides, they cooked up institutional devices such as a "five-point policy for eliminating illegal demonstrations" and "six-point policy against illegal strikes," thus allowing the fascist organs to violate the human rights at random. This proves that the South Korean ruling quarters are not interested in ensuring human rights but foster their violation. The "legal and institutional devices" for "ensuring" the human rights on their lips are precisely mechanisms designed to violate human rights.

Negotiation between DPRK and Russia

Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- A negotiation was held in Moscow between department directors of the foreign ministries of the DPRK and Russia. Both sides discussed the text of a new treaty which will be signed between the two countries and had wide exchanges of views on development of the relations between the two countries and on a series of international matters of common concern. They adopted a new plan for exchange between the foreign ministries of the two countries and came to an agreement on some matters for cooperation. This is of great importance in developing the DPRK-Russia relations. The Russian side expressed deep interest in the development of its relations with the DPRK. The DPRK side reaffirmed that there is no change in its stand to develop its relations with Russia.
