Solidarity with Korean people's struggle called for
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- 14 political parties and public organizations in Nepal including the Central Committee of the Nepal Communist Party (United Marxism-Leninism), the C.C. of the Nepal Worker-Peasant Party and the C.C. of the Nepali Sadbhavna Party on December 11 made public an appeal to the world progressive political parties and organizations as regards the new war provocation moves of the U.S. imperialists.
The Korean peninsula still remains as the biggest hotspot after the end of the Cold War owing to the war provocation moves of the imperialist aggression forces and their servants who worked out such a war plan against the DPRK as the "operation plan 5027" and are going to put it into practice, it noted, and continued:
If the second war breaks out in the Korean peninsula, it will undoubtedly be a great threat to the security of Asia and the rest of the world.
We call for focusing world attention on putting an end to the U.S. new war provocation moves in the Korean peninsula and on getting the uptodate military equipment and the U.S. troops withdrawn from South Korea.
Expressing our belief that the Korean people will achieve a durable peace in the Korean peninsula and reunify the country independently and peacefully without outsiders' interference, we call for extending full support and solidarity to their struggle.
Obituary of Jo Se Ung
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) Central Committee and the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Tuesday issued an obituary of Jo Se Ung, member of the WPK Central Committee, deputy to the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly and chief secretary of the party committee of the cabinet secretariat.
The obituary said that he died of an incurable disease on Dec. 15, Juche 87 (1998) at the age of 71.
He was born into a poor peasant family during the colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists and subjected to sufferings and hard labour as a member of the stateless nation. After the liberation of the country he grew into an able party official under the benevolent care of President Kim Il Sung.
Assuming such important posts as chief secretary of provincial party committee and chairman of provincial people's committee, vice-premier of the administration council and chief secretary of the party committee of the cabinet secretariat, he worked hard to firmly build up the party ranks organizationally and ideologically, strengthen the people's government and hasten the socialist construction.
He was boundlessly faithful to the WPK and the Juche revolutionary cause to the last moment of his life.
S. Korean authorities hit for bellicose remarks
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- A few days ago, the South Korean chief executive invited the "commander of the U.S.-South Korea combined forces" and some 20 other brashest of the U.S. forces present in South Korea to "Chongwadae" to speak highly of "great achievements" gained by the U.S. forces for "peace" on the Korean peninsula and asked for "joint defense preparedness" to "smash military provocations" by the north.
On December 13, the "Minister of National Defense" showed up at a forefront unit of the army in the western sector of the front and said that it should be "combatready," mindful that the north is definitely the "archenemy."
Rodong Sinmun today describes their utterances as a rigmarole of those who have no sense of the fellow countrymen and who are inclined to sycophantic treacheries and confrontation with the north.
The news analyst says:
Realities attest the fact that the U.S. imperialist aggression forces are wrecking peace on the Korean peninsula and bringing the situation to the brink of a war. The South Korean chief executive, however, describes the Yankees as "defenders of peace," an act that befits a servant of a nuclear war.
The South Korean chief executive asked for "smashing military provocations" of the north in the hope that the U.S. will unleash a war at an early date and realise his wild ambition for "unification by northward invasion."
The outburst of the South Korean "Minister of National Defense" is evidence that he, getting overheated in war preparations against the north, has lost reason as well as a sound way of thinking.
We take a serious note of the fact that the South Korean chief executive, the prime minister and other senior "government" officials did not hesitate to describe the north as the "archenemy" to be annihilated to the last.
If a war breaks out on this land, we will wipe out not only the U.S. imperialist aggressors but also the authorities, who are running amuck to encourage the outbreak of a fratricidal war with the backing of the Yankees, to wreak a thousandfold revenge.
Demonstration by more than 20,000 S. Korean workers
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- More than 20,000 workers of South Korea held rallies and demonstrations to win their vital rights, according to a radio report from Seoul.
Some 10,000 unionists of the Daewoo Electronics Co., Ltd. held a rally in defence of vital rights and in demand of employment stability on Dec. 14 and demanded total withdrawal of the "exchange of work" by the "restructuring" impelled by the authorities because the "exchange of work" is a step to ruthlessly trample underfoot the livelihood of the workers and is being enforced without any elementary measures for ensuring jobs.
They marched on streets, chanting slogans defending vital rights and demanding employment stability.
That day, more than 10,000 motor producers of the Samsung Business Group also held a rally and demanded that "exchange of work" which is leading the economy to catastrophe be nullified and vital rights of the workers be ensured.
NDFSK calls upon the jobless to wage anti-U.S., anti-"government" struggle
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- The director of the Workers and Peasants Department of the Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) published a statement on Dec. 11 as regards the brisk campaign conducted to form the "National Solidarity of the Jobless" (Jonsilryon), a nation-wide organisation of jobless men in South Korea, Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation said.
The campaign for the inauguration of Jonsilryon, a noticeable development, the first of its kind in the history of the labour movement in South Korea, is a revelation of the aspirations and will of the jobless for independence to solve the serious unemployment problem through their organisational struggle, the statement said.
It highly praised the active advance of the jobless in forming Jonsilryon as a very just and righteous action.
Jonsilryon should certainly become an autonomous and independent organisation, not an organisation of any political forces and bodies, the statement said, and went on:
All the jobless should wage a persistent anti-U.S., anti-"government" struggle to liquidate the colonial rule of the U.S. imperialists, the trusteeship of the International Monetary Fund and the Kim Dae Jung "government's" policy of depending on outside forces.
On the same day, the Workers and Peasants Department of the NDFSK Central Committee published calls for immediate struggle for the jobless who are fighting for the formation of Jonsilryon and vital rights.
Hwang Son committed for trial
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities in late November committed for trial Hwang Son, a delegate of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) that represents the south headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students For the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon), who went back after visiting Pyongyang to take part in the joint excursion of historical relics in the north, an academic symposium and August 15 pro-reunification festival, according to a news report.
No sooner had she passed through the Military Demarcation Line in Panmunjom on November 3 than the "Agency for National Security Planning" (ANSP) arrested her on the charge of violating the "National Security Law." The "ANSP" had cruelly violated her human rights and interrogated her repeatedly before committing her for trial.
The authorities strictly segregated her from the public during the interrogation by the "ANSP" in a bid to inflict double and treble sufferings upon her. So news of her life was not carried by any papers and broadcast by radios during the last one month.
The world public is watching the authorities' crackdown on her.
Anti-north confrontation will lead to self-destruction =KCNA commentary=
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities are zealously inciting the anti-north confrontation psychology.
The present ruler invited chiefs of the U.S. armed forces present in South Korea to "Chongwadae" on December 11 and asked them to "maintain a firm combined defence posture", clamouring about "possible armed provocation" by the north.
On December 11, "Prime Minister" Kim Jong Pil told reporters that the "archenemy" is the DPRK. On the 13th, Chon Yong Thaek, "Minister of National Defense", inspected a forefront unit and urged it to establish "steadfast viewpoint on "archenemy" and "military preparedness."
This is an open revelation of their criminal intention to unleash war against the north.
What cannot be overlooked is the fact that the anti-north confrontation racket of the South Korean authorities is being conducted when "operation plan 5027", the U.S. imperialists plan for a second Korean war of aggression, was openly published and the U.S. aggressive moves are getting intensified.
This eloquently proves that the South Korean authorities are acting as a shock brigade in implementing "operation plan 5027" to attain their ulterior purpose to stifle the fellow countrymen with the help of foreign forces.
They are now going to jump into the fire.
Former military and "civilian" dictators of South Korea had ceaselessly conducted anti-north confrontation rackets but in vain.
The present authorities must be mindful of this.
Anti-north confrontation will lead to self-destruction.
If the South Korean authorities finally ignite war of aggression on the north, encouraged by outside forces, our revolutionary armed forces will annihiliate the traitors to the nation to the last and root out the source of treachery and war on this land.
Korea's courage and guts
Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- If the United States unleashes a war, Korea will never miss the opportunity to wreak pent-up grudge upon it.
To answer fire with fire is the character of our revolutionary army and its unique mode of counteraction.
This is the warning of the People's Army and people of Korea to the U.S. imperialists and their followers.
Korea's is the courage and guts of General Secretary Kim Jong Il, the illustrious commander.
He was born as the son of the guerrilla army of Mt. Paektu and inherited the military trait of the illustrious commanders' family and fostered his will and character full of courage in the gunfire of the anti-Japanese war.
He fully personified the brilliant military wisdom and grit of President Kim Il Sung, the invincible and iron-willed commander, near the operation table of the supreme command during the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953).
That is why Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il always remains composed in confrontation with the enemies, makes a bold and decisive resolution at a decisive moment and carries it into practice.
In Juche 82 (1993) the United States amassed huge armed forces in and around the Korean peninsula and drove the situation to the high pitch of strain, crying for "nuclear inspection" and "sanction."
At this juncture the Supreme Commander answered it with the declaration of semi-war state across the country. Then the DPRK government declared its withdrawal from the International Atomic Energy Agency. This astonished the provokers and, finally, the Korean people brought them to their knees.
In recent years the enemies are leading the situation to the brink of war, but he is sending People's Army units to build monumental edifices of eternal value. And he gave personal guidance to Height 1211, Height 351 and other forefront outposts as well as Panmunjom outpost in the frontmost line where friend and foe are confronted with each other.
As it has the great commander with matchless courage and guts as Supreme Commander of the revolutionary armed force, Korea is not frightened by any formidable enemies.
