The present chief executive said though the promise of constitutional revision for the "parliamentary cabinet system" is effective, it is necessary to readjust the time for it. On the contrary, Kim Jong Pil said foundation of the coalition "government" is guaranteed by keeping "faith," noting the promise to wind up the constitutional revision for the "parliamentary cabinet system" by the end of next year cannot be put off. This illustrates that the scramble for power between the two partners has come up to the surface.

Blessed people

Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- In Korea a large number of people have been blessed by their leader on different occasions this year. Hundreds of them received birthday tables from General Secretary Kim Jong Il. Among them were DPRK heroes Kim Kun Ok , Pak Hyon Chul, Ri Hwal and first pilot heroine of Korea Thae Son Hui, who are generals and veteran lecturers of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, the first people's sportswoman Sin Kum Dan, and other veterans of the revolution, personages of merited service, and innovators. Kim Jong Il sent birthday tables of blessings to one hundred-year-old men and women, including Pang Mae Sil in Kangdong county, Pyongyang, and Kim Ryong Ok in Thaethan county, South Hwanghae Province, who are enjoying a long life in good health under the popular health system. He also granted sixtieth and other birthday tables of blessings to participants in the national meeting of model workers in self-reliance, the second national meeting of mothers and other meetings. His warm humanity reaches overseas Koreans and foreigners. In November last, President of the International Taekwon-do Federation Choe Hong Hui and his wife were blessed by him in the homeland on their 80th and 70th birthdays. Ri Hwa Sun, Jong Pok Sun and many other Korean-resident Japanese women received birthday tables from him. Besides, he sent wedding tables, gifts and thanks to Kim Ok Suk in Ryokpho district, Pyongyang, and others who displayed communistic traits by marrying special-class disabled soldiers and devoting themselves to the collective and comrades. While on a journey for on-site guidance, he visited a peasant's family in Kyongsong county, North Hamgyong Province who had moved to a new house, and posed for a picture with them. As they have him gifted with noble humanity as the leader of revolution, the Korean people are pulling through adversity with confidence and optimism under the present difficult conditions.

Document of treachery and aggression

Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- The self-styled "government for the people" in South Korea made public a"new agreement on defense cost sharing" with the United States on December 22, a Seoul-based radio said. The South Korean authorities advertise it as if it were a big "present" of the U.S. to South Korea in the grip of economic crisis. the figures and facts prove that their advertisement is a ploy and deception. Under the current "agreement" they are supposed to pay more than 333 million dollars for the upkeep of the U.S.Forces in South Korea next year. It is well known to the world that South Korea has paid more than 300 million dollars every year. The "upkeep" is little different from that of the past in the basic amount. When "indirect expenses" for the free use of land, buildings and facilities by the U.S. forces are added to it, the amount South Korea has paid is more than 3,000 million dollars every year. that amount will not change in the future at all. All this proves that the "new agreement on defense cost sharing" is nothing but a document of treachery and aggression aimed at fixing and legalising the granting of the "state expenses" for the upkeep of the U.S. Forces in South Korea.

Just and praiseworthy act

Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- The chairman of the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) said that it will struggle for the dissolution of the "labour-management-government committee" in case the five-point demand, including the suspension of the layoff system and the legalization of the "National Teachers' Union," is not met till the end of the year. Minju Joson today views this resolution as a just and praiseworthy act, which shows a firm will to fight it out for the vital and democratic rights. The news analyst goes on: The chairman's remarks are an expression of protest of the South Korean people against the anti-social misrule and perfidies of the ruling quarters. The South Korean working people keenly realize that when they wage an unyielding struggle, they are sure to win. They will fight more staunchly till their just demand is met.
