250-mile journey in his teens

Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- Korean schoolchildren have begun to make excursions to revolutionary sites of "250-mile journey for learning" and "250-mile journey for national liberation" this year. The excursions are made to mark the two 250-mile journeys taken by the President Kim Il Sung with a far-sighted plan for revolution in his teens. He arrived in Mangyongdae, his home town, 14 days after he left Badaogou on March 16, Juche 12 (1923), when he was 11 years old, as his father told him that he must have a good knowledge of Korea for national liberation. His journey was a "250-mile journey for learning" which made him experience the misfortunes and sufferings of the Korean nation deprived of their state by the Japanese imperialists. He, studying in the motherland, heard the news that his father Kim Hyong Jik had been arrested by the Japanese police, before he set out on a 250-mile journey again from Mangyongdae to Badaogou on January 22, Juche 14 (1925). He crossed the River Amnok to leave the homeland with a grim resolve not to return before Korea was liberated. His lofty will for revolution on the 250-mile journey for national liberation and his pledge on the bank of the River Amnok have been materialized in this land as independent and prosperous socialism. In order to hand down through generations his revolutionary exploits the Korean people have built his statues in Jonchon, Hwaphyong and Phophyong on the road of the 250-mile journey. Revolutionary museums, Schoolchildren's Palace, monuments and markers have been built in Kaechon, Kanggye and other places. The Phophyong Ferry, the Kanggye Post Office, the Kanggye Inn and other relics are preserved as they were. Korean schoolchildren make excursions to the revolutionary sites of "250-mile journey for learning" and "250-mile journey for national liberation" every year with a view to following the lofty revolutionary spirit, ardent patriotism and strong will he had in his teens.

National reunification is call of history

Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- National reunification is the call of history. Therefore, the moves of the present South Korean ruling quarters pursuing the anti-reunification policy against the trend of the times and the aspiration of the nation cannot be pardoned in any case, says Rodong Sinmun in a signed article today. It continues: Contrary to the nation's desire and aspiration for reunification, the South Korean rulers persist in taking the road of confrontation and war against North Korea where the fellow countrymen live. For the Korean nation, nothing is more important than national reunification and no task is more urgent than it. Division is the road to subordination and self-ruin. Only reunification is the road to independence, prosperity and a way out for the nation. Korea is the same as an organism that can keep up its life only when it is united but cannot exist once it is separated. Any Koreans who are anxious about the nation's destiny can not turn blind eyes to the call of history and the nation for reunification. This is high time that all Koreans at home and abroad closely united irrespective of differences in ideology, religious belief, political view, class and social standing and intensified the struggle to save the destiny of the country and the nation and reunify the fatherland. As for the Korean nation, nothing is more honourable and worthwhile than to devote itself to national reunification. To reunify the fatherland is precisely patriotism and the struggle for national reunification is a most praiseworthy patriotic one. Those who contribute to the struggle for national reunification will enjoy love and respect from the nation and will be recorded in national history as pro-reunification patriots.

Hwang leads "people's government" to hell

Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- Jong Song Il, a freelancer of South Korea, published an article entitled "'yellow dog' leading people to hell", said Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation. The author of the article wrote: From olden times, it has been told that a "yellow dog" leads people to the hell. Such a hellish dog has appeared in Seoul, striking terror and uneasiness into the hearts of people. This dog is now roaming about "Chongwadae". It is none other than Hwang Jang Yop who defected from the north to the south. A few days ago, he gave a "lecture" at a joint meeting of permanent directors and directors of the central council of the students' military training corps. In the "lecture," he praised the present "government's policy of engagement with the north" as "effective" and then cried that economic assistance to the north must be stopped because it would result in "replenishing" the north's strength and weakening the "strength" of the south. And he alleged that the north's slogan of building a powerful nation is aimed at getting "economic assistance" by "threatening" someone. Worse still, he slandered the rewritten constitution of the north as undemocratic. His rigmarole that he had never seen any constitution in the north cannot be construed otherwise than the height of folly. It is because he had acted as chairman of the legislative body of the north. He went so far as to say, "the essence of the north's government is to wage a war" and "the north has the capacity and willingness to develop nuclear weapons. This is an absurd utterance which can be made only by Hwang. In the "lecture," he branded the north as an "out-and-out principal enemy" and let loose the hokum that "it is imperative to overpower the north as early as possible to prevent a war." The "Agency for National Security Planning" is wirepulling Hwang who is now in hiding at its secret room. It is said that a bad-natured dog must be bound with a short tether. The act of the "people's government" in letting Hwang make a string of venomous remarks will only precipitate its own destruction. Hwang is the very dog that leads the "people's government" to the hell. Conducted by him, the "Agency for National Security Planning," "Chongwadae" and South Korea are going to the hell of ruin.

U.S. urged to pay dlrs 300 million for inspection

He said: Our stand toward the "suspected underground nuclear facility" is consistent and clear. The rumour about the "suspected underground nuclear facility" being spread by the United States on the basis of groundless "information" is a grave insult to the DPRK, a dignified sovereign state. Therefore, we cannot allow any "inspection" of our underground facility. However, if the United States pays 300 million dollars as a compensation for insulting the DPRK, we, taking into account the DPRK-U.S. relations, may allow a visit to the site in Kumchang-ri only once as an exception. Accordingly, if the U.S. wants to make a visit to the site, it should make a compensation of 300 million dollars in cash. If it cannot do so for some reason, it may grant the DPRK economic benefits tantamount to the amount even in any appropriate form. Our demand for compensation is very just because, once we open an object which is very sensitive in view of our national security to the United States which is technically at war with the DPRK, we cannot use it for its original purpose. Nevertheless, the U.S., insisting that it cannot compensate, is linking the issue of dispelling the suspicion about the "underground nuclear facility" with the implementation of the DPRK's obligation under the DPRK-U.S.agreed framework. We cannot but take a serious view of this fact. Since the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework was adopted in October 1994, we have remained faithful to the agreement and, accordingly, we have never conducted any nuclear activities. It is the united states that is violating the agreement. It has stubbornly imposed sanctions on the DPRK, invariably enforcing the hostile policy toward it in violation of the agreed framework. Moreover, it has not faithfully implemented its obligations including the supply of heavy oil and light-water reactors. If the U.S. continues to delay implementing its obligations, linking the "suspected underground nuclear facility" with the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework in a far-fetched way, the DPRK will no longer have any interest in the agreement. If the agreed framework is broken as a consequence, there is no help for it. The United States would be well advised not to make any further false steps.
