U.S. hit for violation of UN charter
Pyongyang, January 18 (KCNA) -- U.S. violations of UN charter, including military attack on Iraq and act of the U.S. under the veil of the UN in Korea, are a revelation of extreme arrogance and shamelessness.
Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
It goes on: In 1950 the U.S. set up a "UN command" and shipped multinational forces into the Korean War when there was a vacuum of the Soviet "veto."
The "UN command" is a product of a plot the U.S. hatched by abusing the name of the UN.
Only the U.S. still remains in the "UN command."
There were not and are not UN instructions issued to the "UN command."
The UN bears no financial support for the "UN command."
The "UN command" is the U.S. forces command from a to z.
The United States' wanton violation of the UN charter has been illustrated by the fact that it has not implemented the resolution of the 30th UN general assembly session on the dismantling of the "UN command" and the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from South Korea, which is a step for a durable peace on the Korean peninsula.
If the U.S. continues abusing the name of the UN, it will lose confidence from the UN member nations and face bitterer denunciation as the enemy of world peace and security.

Quality of Korean youth
Pyongyang, January 18 (KCNA) -- Young Korean people are performing proud exploits in all domains of socialist construction.
In hearty response to the Joint New Year Editorial, they filled or cut earth of over 1.07 million cubic metres in face of the difficulties caused by midwinter in recent days and opened a bright prospect for hastening the building of roadbed in the construction of the Pyongyang-Nampho Express Highway, one of major projects.
The construction of nearly all minor power stations now underway across the country is promoted by the efforts of youths.
So, lots of minor power stations are called "Youth" power stations.
The revolutionary enthusiasm and creative activity of young people are a source of successes in the work to increase production in different domains of the national economy in face of difficulties caused by the shortage of everything.
It is the quality and tradition pertaining to Korean youths to perform heroic exploits in the van of the era and the revolution.
In the '50s they carried out the project of laying broad-gauge railways in the 80-odd-kilometer-long section between Haeju and Hasong in a matter of 75 days. In the '80s young servicepersons built the west sea barrage stretching 8 km on the rough sea in five years.
In recent years, the Korean youths ensured the first-stage commissioning of the Anbyon Youth Power Station and completed the construction of the Kumgangsan Youth Railways and railway electrification project, overcoming difficulties.
