Anti-U.S., anti-"government" struggle determined in S. Korea

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The Kwangju and South Jolla Provincial Federation of University Student Councils (Namchongryon) formed the 8th-term presidium and started a struggle against the present regime, according to a news report. Jang Se Ho, chairman of the General Student Council of Chosun University, was elected chairman of the 8th-term Namchongryon. Namchongryon in a declaration of struggle said that its 100,000 students resolutely denounce criminal acts of the present regime, which faithfully serves the U.S. and tries to plunge the nation into a nuclear holocaust, and declared it would dauntlessly struggle in protest against them. By reviving the patriotic spirit of forerunners, we will take the lead in the struggle for the withdrawal of the U.S. troops and for independence, democracy and reunification with the united strength, it stressed.

Provocative "joint exercise" plan must be cancelled

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the Korean National Peace Committee (KNPC) released a statement on February 1 in connection with the fact that the war moves of the U.S. and the South Korean authorities against the DPRK have recently reached an extremely reckless phase. The statement said: Having suspended the annual "Team Spirit" joint war maneuvers, the U.S. and the South Korean authorities have staged another large-scale joint exercise "RSOI" since 1995. This eloquently shows that their war racket against the DPRK has entered an extremely reckless phase and that the situation of the Korean peninsula has reached a touch-and-go danger line.
The KNPC, branding the planned "joint exercise" as the second "Team Spirit" joint military maneuver, vehemently denounces it as a criminal war provocation move seriously threatening peace and security in the Korean peninsula and the rest of the world. There is no guarantee that the U.S. and the South Korean authorities, openly vociferating about "surgical operation-type strike" and "nuclear preemptive strike" at the DPRK, will not go over to a real war all at once while staging the "joint exercise" with the mobilisation of huge armed forces and equipment fully enough for a war. The U.S. bellicose forces and the South Korean authorities should look squarely at the will of the Korean People's Army and people to annihilate the enemy and cancel the provocative "joint exercise" plan.
We are fully ready to answer a preemptive strike with an overall strike and war of aggression with a just liberation war, and the aggressors and the provokers are always the aiming points of the Korean revolutionary armed forces. If the U.S. and the South Korean authorities violate the sovereignty of our republic even a little with a reckless military adventure in disregard of our warnings, they will not elude our merciless retaliatory blows.

Japanese reactionaries' anti-DPRK war moves

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The first meeting of the work team newly formed within the Japanese Liberal-Democratic Party was held on January 29, according to a news report. It is allegedly to examine measures to "cope with crisis" after an artificial satellite was launched in the DPRK. It discussed how to "cope with ballistic missiles of North Korea." Former director general of the Defense Agency, in his speech vowed to step up an anti-DPRK smear campaign. This shows that the Japanese reactionaries are getting overheated with war moves to realise their ambition to stage a comeback to the Korean peninsula on the pretext of non-existent "missile threat."

Japan's scheme to establish wartime system

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The Japanese Mainichi Shimbun January 30 reported that the Japanese Defense Agency decided to make haste with researches into the instituting of a "law on emergencies" at a meeting of the "defense council to cope with major incidents" under the pretext of "threat from North Korea". The Defense Agency formed the "defense council" on January 21 allegedly to discuss concrete measures related to counteractions of the "self-defence forces against emergencies and delivery of information" after North Korea launched an artificial satellite.
The defense council held the second discussion on January 29 and decided to make researches into the instituting of the "law on emergencies" on the plea of "tense situation" of the Korean peninsula. It also decided to re-examine why organs of other ministries and agencies do not take "rapid actions" under the current law in case Japan is attacked. This shows that the Japanese reactionaries are trying to militarize Japan, establish the wartime system and stage a comeback to the Korean peninsula by enacting "laws on wartime" under the pretext of the non-existent "threats by the DPRK" as they did at the time of the war of aggression on the continent.

Pomchonghakryon vows struggle

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon) on January 28 held "ceremonies for declaring a struggle against the U.S. war moves and for the withdrawal of the U.S. troops from South Korea and for the building of a reunified country based on confederacy" simultaneously in Pyongyang, Seoul and Tokyo as agreed on by the north, south and overseas headquarters of Pomchonghakryon. The ceremonies took place in the form of joint meetings of the north, south and overseas headquarters of Pomchonghakryon. The joint meetings first explained the background and significance of the ceremonies in the north, south and abroad.
Jointly written political speeches said that 70 million fellow countrymen who want to build a reunified country based on confederacy are speeding up the march of reunification to get the U.S., the chieftain of division, withdrawn from South Korea and to accomplish the independent and peaceful reunification of the country. The students in the north, south and abroad should wage an anti-U.S. struggle for independence, more closely united under the banner of the country's reunification, the speeches emphasised. They said that the students in the north, south and abroad who want to live as the first generation of the reunified country should strengthen Pomchonghakryon and work hard for independent interchange and thus greatly contribute to the struggle of the entire nation for great national unity and the country's reunification. The joint meetings adopted a "joint resolution of Pomchonghakryon to smash the U.S. war maneuvers and build a reunified country based on confederacy." The resolution called upon the two million students in the north, south and abroad to turn out in the building of a reunified country based on confederacy. After the joint meetings, participants burnt effigies symbolizing the U.S. including stars and stripes.
On the same day, the Taegu and North Kyongsang Provincial Federation of University Student Councils and the South Hamgyong Provincial Student Committee, the Pusan and South Kyongsang Provincial Federation of University Student Councils and the North Hamgyong Provincial Student Committee, the North and South Chungchong Provincial Federation of University Student Councils and the Jagang and Ryanggang Provincial Student Committees, and the Kwangju and South Jolla Provincial Federation of University Student Counsils and the North Phyongan Provincial Student Committee held similar ceremonies respectively. A ceremony for declaring a joint struggle against the United States was held by Chonnam National University, Kim Chaek University of Technology and the Committee of Korean Students in Japan on January 26.

Yankees hell-bent on murder spree

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comments on the thrice-cursed murders of South Koreans by the U.S. aggression forces. On January 27, a GI killed a Korean woman Jon Ji Na and a child Ri Po Bi in cold blood. On January 30, GIs in Posan-Dong, Tongduchon city, Kyonggi Province, strangled another Korean woman sin cha gum to death with an electric cord.
The recent atrocities fully show the quality of the U.S. wolves, the news analyst says, and goes on: Murders, robberies, rapes and plunder committed by the U.S. aggressors in South Korea almost every day eloquently prove that they are a herd of blood-thirsty cannibals. Those excesses which are getting pronounced with each passing day are fomented by the South Korean authorities who are subservient to the Yankees. The South Korean authorities provide the occupiers with an extraterritorial status.
As a consequence, the Yankees commit murders, plunder and outrages at random. Turning away from the excesses, the South Korean authorities have gone the length of saying that "security and democracy settle down at the sacrifice of the officers and men of the U.S. army." Judging from their remarks, they are the most vicious authorities with no drop of blood of the Korean nation in vein. As long as the traitors stay in power, the excesses of the aggressors will not be terminated anytime. Nor can the South Koreans avoid tragic bloodshed.

Undisguised war moves

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson today comments on military drills of various types being staged in Seoul at the same time. In fact, these drills are fraught with the same danger as at the time of the large-scale war exercises against the north, the news analyst says, and goes on: The South Korean authorities are squandering a huge amount of money on anti-north war games when the people urge them to drastically reduce the military "budget" to save their livelihood from misery. This is a double criminal act of inflicting bitterer pains upon the people and driving the nation into disaster. They contended that the military exercises were necessary to "cope with possible infiltration from the north." However, their assertion is a deceptive propaganda intended to mislead public opinion and incite anti-north confrontation among the people. North-south confrontation and war can never be a way out, the paper says, warning the South Korean authorities should clear see the developments and behave with discretion.

Source of invincibility of Korea

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- Chairman of the Mongolia-Korea Friendship Society S. Surenjav, who had visited the DPRK, emphasised the source of invincibility of Korean socialism is that the leader believes the people and the people firmly trust and follow the leader as the defender of their destiny. Through my several visits to the DPRK, I have come to firmly believe that the Korean people have been able to be the most proud and dignified people in the world as they are led by General Secretary Kim Jong Il, he said, adding: The Korean people are confidently advancing toward the bright future, not knowing any pessimism in face of many difficulties in their way of progress.

Great man and famous songs

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The DPRK has many famous songs praising the era. Many of them were created by General Secretary Kim Jong Il, the great master of art. In his childhood, he created famous songs such as "Song of Blessing" and "My Mother." He also created famous songs including "Bosom of Motherland," "Korea, I will glorify thee," "Song of Loyalty," "Where is dear Marshal?" Many famous songs were created in Korea under his guidance. He said that famous songs should comply with the desire, demand and aesthetic senses of popular masses and that their music should be loved by them.
When the five revolutionary operas of Korean style "Sea of Blood," "the Flower Girl," "Tell the story, forest" "a True daughter of the party" and "the Song of Mt. Kumgang" were being created, he personally became a writer and composer to complete their songs as masterpieces of the era. He selected 47 of 2,400 songs for the opera "Sea of Blood," tens of pieces of 2,700 songs for "the Flower Girl" and 41 of over 3,000 songs for "Tell the story, forest." Under his wise leadership, many songs created during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, the Fatherland Liberation War, postwar rehabilitation and construction and the socialist revolution and construction were improved into famous songs of the era.
Songs "Leader is always with us," "Let us uphold the red flag," "We will devotedly defend the headquarters of revolution" and other songs are loudly sung by the Korean people as they represent their unchangeable faith. These songs could be completed as famous ones worthy of national treasure under his meticulous leadership. The famous songs are powerfully encouraging the Korean revolution which started and has triumphantly advanced with songs.

Popular cosmetics "Noana"

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- Cosmetics "Noana" of the DPRK are widely popular abroad. In recent years, the Noana Joint Venture Company made a practical test of cosmetics among about 10,000 people in Japan. As a result, the cosmetics were well received by 80 percent of them. The Moscow Beauty Institute, the Shanghai Laboratory of China, first-class laboratories in the United States and other cosmetic institutes estimated that the "Noana" cosmetics are very good, charming and no less than those of France. The Japanese Health and Welfare Ministry said that the nutritive efficiency of the cosmetics is as high as five times over the known cosmetics and they are very ideal. The company situated on the Bank of the Pothong River in Pyongyang, the DPRK, was organized in March 1994. It has a production base with a capacity of 100,000 sets a year in the border city of Sinuiju. It gives beauty treatments, exhibits and sells cosmetics and does other business work.
Tens of kinds of cosmetics are made from compound tonic, which was developed with extract of Kaesong-Koryo-Insam which is famous for its special natural medicine material and with several biogen stimulators. Night cream, day cream, moisture milk, moisture lotion, Kaesong Koryo Insam lotion, foundation cream and other cosmetics are helpful to soften skin, promote blood circulation, cover scars of skin, prevent aging and suntan. Hair tonic liquor is so nutritive and germicidal as to remove dandruff and itching of the scalp and prevent all sorts of skin diseases and alopecia. The cosmetics are now exported to Japan, Britain, Norway, Poland, Russia and many other countries, enjoying great popularity. Director of the company Kwon Mun Gap said that the "Noana" cosmetics will be on a par with the first-class cosmetics of France and Britain known to the world in near years and the prospect of the company is very optimistic.

She started calligraphy when she was four. The kindergarten enrolled her immediately, and the teachers worked hard to develop her ability. She reads and writes Korean properly, and sings songs fluently. She wrote a letter to leader Kim Jong Il who signed it with words of praise. Her father is an ordinary worker.

Greetings to Venezuelan President

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- President Kim Yong Nam of the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK today sent a message of greetings to Hugo Chavez Frias upon his taking office as President of Venezuela. The message extended warm congratulations to Hugo Chaves Frias upon his assumption of office as President of Venezuela. The message expressed the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would further develop in the idea of independence, peace and friendship and wished the president success in his responsible work.

Japanese Prime Minister urged to take humanitarian step

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The Korean A-Bomb Victims Society for Anti-Nuke and Peace today sent a letter of protest to the Japanese Prime Minister, Keizo Obuchi, urging him to immediately take a humanitarian step for A-bomb victims who had returned to the DPRK and their descendants. The letter says: Hundreds of thousands of Koreans were forced to suffer all kinds of grinding work in Japan. While living in Japan, they fell the most miserable victims to A-Bombs. All this is entirely attributed to Japan's colonial policy in Korea and war of aggression.
The governments of a great many European countries, including Germany, and the U.S. and Austrian governments have hitherto apologized to and compensated civilian victims of the Second World War, fixing no period of prescription. Japan's attitude toward the liquidation of the past is in striking contrast to the efforts of those countries for compensation. Though half a century has passed, the Japanese authorities have neither abandoned the deep-rooted hostile policy toward the DPRK nor shown any sincerity in an effort to liquidate the past wrongdoings of Japan against the Korean people. Many of the bomb-victims who had returned to the DPRK died from the consequence of atomic bombing, and most of survivors are those of advanced age of 70. Words fail to express the sufferings of the victims from the aftermath of damage by atomic bombing and those of their descendants from genetic effect.
From the humanitarian point of view, the Japanese government should make apologies and state compensations to them at an early date, but it has not taken any step for the reason that diplomatic relations have not been established between the DPRK and Japan. This is a mockery of and insult to all the Korean people including A-bomb victims and an impudent deed of evading the responsibility for liquidating the past. We urge the Japanese government to renounce its hostile policy toward the DPRK, take an immediate humanitarian step for the A-bomb victims who have returned to the DPRK and their descendants and make an apology and compensation to it.
