Present there were Jo Myong Rok, director of the General Political Department of the Korean People's Army (KPA), Kim Yong Chun, chief of the general staff of the KPA, Kim Il Chol, Minister of the People's Armed Forces, and others.
It was stressed at the symposium that Kim Jong Il is the incarnation of loyalty and filial piety and patriotism who is exalting Korea as eternal Kim Il Sung's Korea, a powerful nation of Juche, and an outstanding statesman who is leading the Korean revolution along an ever-victorious road with his original idea of attaching importance to military affairs.
The speakers said that Kim Jong Il is the great leader who is triumphantly breaking through grave difficulties of revolution with his deep trust in and loving care for the people, and the great sun of the 21st century whom all the people are looking up to.
They said that the KPA would creditably guarantee the revolutionary cause of Juche by force of arms and greatly contribute to exalting Korea as a country of the eternal sun, a powerful nation.
Victory of Islamic Revolution in Iran commemorated
Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held in Pyongyang on Friday to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran under the sponsorship of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the Korea-Iran Friendship Association.
Ri Won Il, Minister of Labour and chairman of the Korea-Iran Friendship Association, referred to the successes made by the Iranian people in various sectors during the past 20 years and expressed the hope that the Iranian people would oppose the domination and subjugation of the imperialists, consolidate the just cause of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and achieve the development of the country.
He noted that it is an invariable stand of the DPRK to expand the friendly and cooperative relations between the two people based on the deep intimacy the President Kim Il Sung had with the top leaders of Iran in his lifetime.
Iranian Ambassador to Korea Mohammad Ganjidoost said in his speech that Iran, which wants world peace and territorial integrity on the basis of the human dignity, has good friendly relations with the DPRK which is guided by the Juche idea.
A congratulatory letter to the Iranian President was adopted at the meeting.
Preparatory committees formed abroad
Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- Brisk preparations to celebrate the 57th birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il are being made worldwide.
After a preparatory committee for celebrations was formed in Guyana last December, preparatory committees were inaugurated one after another in over 30 countries including India, Pakistan, Russia, Bulgaria, Equatorial Guinea, Congo, Peru and Mexico.
Involved there are high-ranking officials of party and government and officials of friendship and solidarity groups and social organisations.
A national preparatory committee involving representatives of 25 political parties, social organisations and friendship organisations was formed in India while an inaugural meeting of a national preparatory committee was held in Nepal, attended by representatives of various political parties and social organisations.
Programs for celebrations were discussed and appeals and inaugural declarations were adopted there.
The declarations and appeals said that the birthday of Kim Jong Il is not only an auspicious day of the Korean nation but also an occasion which encourages the world progressive peoples fighting for freedom, equality and justice.
They called upon the world progressive people to jointly celebrate his birthday, saying that Kim Jong Il has brightly indicated the direction and ways for them to advance toward socialism.
The preparatory committees are holding colourful functions such as Korean book, photo and handicraft exhibitions, rallies, film shows, seminars and sports games according to their programs.
S. Korean fishermen's organisations demand relief measures
Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- Representatives of 8 fishermen's organisations of South Korea met on Feb. 2 to inaugurate a national measure committee for poverty-stricken fishermen, said a Seoul-based radio.
The committee said that 500,000 fishermen lost their means of existence owing to the South Korea-Japan "fisheries accord" effectuated by the authorities.
It denounced their treacherous acts and urged them to take relief measures.

Pyongyangites swear revenge
Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- Workers of the Pyongyang Vinyl Chloride Shoes Factory, Pyongyang Changgwang Garments Factory and Pyongyang Silk Mill held rallies and bitterly condemned murderers of the U.S. army and South Korean authorities, shouting "Let us make the enemy pay for the blood of the murdered South Korean women a thousand times " on January 27, a non-commissioned officer of the Naval Intelligence Service of the U.S. 8th army brutally killed a woman and her 4-year-old girl in Seoul, and on the 30th, soldiers of the U.S. aggression forces raped a woman Sin Cha Gum in Tongduchon, Kyonggi Province, and strangled her to death.
At the rallies, speakers said that they could not pardon the U.S. imperialist aggressors for enjoying pleasures after turning South Korea into a center of prostitution and slaughter.
They stressed that all the employees of the factories would certainly square accounts with the U.S.
They said that the South Korean authorities, who are prolonging their remaining days by serving the U.S. imperialist cannibals as if they were their real grandfathers, are a group of traitors devoid of any national spirit and blood.
The outrageous acts of the U.S. against the South Korean people are being encouraged by the present South Korean authorities who curry favour with them, they said, adding: All the Korean women will certainly bring the murderers of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces to the justice of history and make them pay thousand-fold prices for their crimes.
S. Korean "Minister of National Defense" hectic for war agitation
Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The South Korean "Minister of National Defense," Chon Yong Thaek, incited a war fever against the North Korea when he called at the airforce operational command and the "U-2" wing of the U.S. 7th airforce present in South Korea on February 4, said a Seoul-based radio report.
During his visits, he underscored the "important role of the airforce at the initial stage of contingency" and a "perfect operational readiness", thus openly revealing an attempt to invade the north.
This shows that the South Korean authorities are recklessly trying to make use of the airforce in making a preemptive attack on the north in contingency.
U.S. fiction of "missile threat" under fire
Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comes out with a commentary hitting the United States for frantically intensifying its moves to stifle the DPRK over "missile threat" from the DPRK.
The news analyst says: Some time ago, a spokesman for the U.S. Defense Department said that in case "North Korea launches missiles towards the U.S. and others", the United States will take a very "meaningful countermeasure." And the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Cohen, said "North Korea is creating potential instability by intending to launch more powerful and up-to-date rockets over Japan," calling for boosting military spending to provide against them.
Their remarks are a vicious challenge to the DPRK and no less than a declaration of war.
It is not the United States but the DPRK that is exposed to missile threat.
Reckless attempt at overseas expansion
Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- Japanese political leaders betrayed their attempt at overseas expansion by claiming that their talk about "areas surrounding Japan" is based on a geographical concept, says Minju Joson today.
The news analyst says: It is the ulterior object of the Japanese reactionaries to run headlong toward overseas aggrandizement with militaristic wings spread at an early date and to this end they have made no hesitation to do anything.
They went so far as to openly raise the issue of the participation of the Japan "self-defense forces" in unpeacekeeping operations, which is banned at home and abroad.
They are trying to realise their ambition for overseas aggression by dispatching their aggression forces to any region on the plea of "support" for U.S. troops in accordance with the "Japan-U.S. defense cooperation guidelines."
No effort is needed to predict what disasters will come in case the Japanese militarist forces go abroad.
The Japanese reactionaries must know that their reckless, base act, obsessed with the ambition for overseas expansion, will result only in precipitating their self-destruction.
What do "joint exercises" seek?
Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- South Korea and Japan have attempted to stage "regular joint exercises" in waters off the Korean peninsula, starting this year.
Minju Joson in a commentary today brands this as a salient expression of their criminal intrigue for a war of aggression on the DPRK.
The news analyst says: It is obvious that the attempt is part of the efforts to facilitate the U.S. imperialists' "operation plan 5027" for a second Korean war of aggression now in progress.
In staging more "joint maneuvers" with South Korea the Japanese reactionaries seek to integrate an operational system, intensity military infiltration into South Korea and step up preparations to invade the DPRK.
It is also the aim of the South Korean authorities to realise their design for aggression on the north without difficulties with the backing of their master Japan.
The South Korean authorities and the Japanese reactionaries are mistaken.
The DPRK will mete out thousand-fold merciless retaliatory punishment to the enemies who are running amuck to do harm to the DPRK.
KCNA comments on "rumour about March crisis"
Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- "The rumour about March crisis" on the Korean peninsula invented by the United States and Japan is spreading more rapidly as if a war were imminent.
In floating this "rumour" they mean that an irretrievably dangerous incident may break out on the Korean peninsula because its military situation can return to what was before the adoption of the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework owing to its breakup towards March this year.
Underlying the "rumour" is a sinister purpose the United States and Japan seek to attain their political and military, diplomatic and strategical purposes.
It is a trite method of the United States to threaten the other party by putting military pressure upon it when it fails to achieve its purpose on any issue.
The U.S. has tenaciously put tough pressure upon the DPRK or resolutely refusing to accept inspections of its underground structure. What the U.S. seeks in this is to meet its unjustifiable demands before this spring, come what may.
This eloquently proves that the U.S. is using the "rumour about March crisis" as a pressure lever to obtain more concessions from the DPRK.
The "rumour" encourages the United States, Japan and South Korea to give a finishing touch to their triangular military alliance allegedly to "cope with contingency on the Korean peninsula."
To perfect the triangular military alliance, in essence, means to form the Asian version of NATO.
The U.S. seeks to prevail over the DPRK militarily by forming the NATO-type military organisation involving the U.S., Japan and South Korea in Asia as they had contained the former soviet union during the cold war era by setting up the NATO in Europe.
Another dangerous military purpose of the "rumour about March crisis" is that the U.S. wants to use this to underscore the urgent necessity to form the Asian version of NATO, and create preconditions for carrying out "operation plan 5027," a war plan against the DPRK, through this military organisation.
The "rumour" is also part of a propaganda campaign aimed at containing countries surrounding the DPRK militarily.
The South Korean "News Journal" January 21 said in an article entitled "mystery of 'rumour about crisis of Korean peninsula' unveiled" it has already been a settled opinion of international political circles that the real target of a new U.S.-Japan security treaty is none other than China.
As was pointed out by the South Korean journal, the U.S. attempt to produce the "March crisis" can be interpreted by its plan to contain China, an obstacle to the execution of its Asia strategy.
The "rumour" also serves as a smokescreen to bury the issue of Clinton's impeachment in oblivion.
Clinton seeks to bring the "spring crisis" to the Korean peninsula so as to avoid being impeached for his affairs with former White House intern Luwinsky and mislead public opinion.
In another development, there is an underlying reason why the Japanese reactionaries are acting as the No. 1 trumpeter of the "rumour about March crisis."
They intend to get down to the development of the "theatre missile defense system" on a full scale under the pretext that the DPRK launched a "ballistic missile," not an artificial satellite, and take the "March crisis" as a golden opportunity to pave the road to reinvasion.
The "rumour about March crisis" is floated so wide to make it sound real that, going beyond the boundary of public opinion, it gives green light to an overall war against the DPRK and arouses deep apprehensions among world progressive peoples aspiring after peace and stability.
Now, the Korean people and People's Army are in full combat preparedness to cope with the "March crisis" loaded with a time-bomb. They are also taking strong self-defensive measures to root out the source of war from the planet.
