Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of the DPRK issued a commemorative postage stamp on the occasion of the auspicious holiday of February.
Printed in the upper part of the stamp are letters "February 16" under which there is the picture of the log cabin in the secret camp of Mt. Paektu where the great leader Kim Jong Il was born.
Seen on the decorative pattern of its lower part are letters "Log cabin in the secret camp of Mt. Paektu," flanked by the years "Juche 31 (1942)" and "Juche 88 (1999)" showing the glorious revolutionary history of Kim Jong Il.
The ministry also issued envelopes decorated with the painting of the flower called Hyosong (filial piety).
Greetings to Burkina Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun sent a message of greetings to Youssouf Ouedraogo upon his appointment as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso.
It expressed the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would further develop in the future and wished him success in his responsible work.
DPRK social organisations condemn "joint exercise"
Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- Spokesmen of the central committees of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea and the Korean Democratic Women's Union issued statements on February 6 denouncing the U.S. and the South Korean authorities for planning to stage an adventurous U.S.-South Korea joint military exercise in April, thus openly disclosing their design to unleash a war against the DPRK from the beginning of the year.
The statements said that the "joint exercise" was aimed at igniting an overall war of aggression on the DPRK through coordinated operations of the U.S. troops and the South Korean army after rapidly hurling reinforcements and mar equipment from the U.S. mainland into the Korean peninsula according to the aggressive "operation plan 5027" which has already entered the stage of implementation.
They continued:
This provocative "joint exercise" is the second "Team Spirit" joint military exercise in its content and nature and a preliminary war and test nuclear war to make a surprise attack on the DPRK.
The U.S. and the South Korean authorities are openly declaring that they would make a "nuclear preemptive strike," crying that the DPRK has a "suspected underground nuclear site" and is "proliferating ballistic missiles."
Their claim is intended to find an excuse to ignite a new war in the Korean peninsula at any cost.
This is just like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
U.S. "TMD" program aimed at DPRK
Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Department of Defense in its informal report chose North Korea as a major target of its "Theatre Missile Defense" program, said the Japanese Mainichi Shimbun February 3.
The paper noted that the report which would be considered by the congress specifically pointed to "threats of North Korean ballistic missiles," analysed the present state of the "TMD" program in Japan and South Korea and underscored the "necessity of U.S. involvement."
This proves that the United States is getting more undisguised in its efforts to step up war preparations against the DPRK and establish military domination over the Asia-pacific region as a whole by carrying out the criminal "TMD" program on a full scale with the DPRK's launch of an artificial satellite as an occasion.
U.S. soldiers' murder denounced
Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- Spokesmen of the central committees of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League and the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea released statements on February 5 denouncing the U.S. aggression troops for brutally murdering innocent women and a child in South Korea.
The statements exposed that the U.S. have murdered and assaulted innocent workers, peasants, students and women in South Korea over a long period of time.
They said that the U.S. have only murdered and assaulted and imposed disasters and bloodshed upon the South Korean people, not providing them with "protection" and "stability." Tragic happenings reported from South Korea are mainly ascribable to the colonial enslavement policy of the U.S. ,they added.
They stressed that the present misfortunes and sufferings cannot be terminated nor can national reunification be expected without forcing the U.S. aggression troops out of South Korea and putting an end to their colonial rule.
The statements called upon the South Korean people to rise in a struggle against the U.S. and their servants.
Autograph from Kim Jong Il
Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il sent his autograph, after reading a letter from 21 girls of the Kaesong Aeguk Garment Factory who have decided to join the Taehongdan County Integrated Farm of Ryanggang Province.
"Taehongdan is good to live in. Feb. 3, 1999. Kim Jong Il," he wrote.
In their letter sent to Kim Jong Il on January 25 the girls said that they were deeply touched whenever they heard exciting reports on General Secretary Kim Jong Il's continuous on-the-spot guidance.
And they noted they have decided to settle in Taehongdan, aware that the area to which he called for assistance is the very place to work in.
They said that they would turn Taehongdan into a communist paradise with a rich harvest of potato and do their bit in building the DPRK into a big potato producer and a Juche-oriented powerful nation.
They resolved to welcome him in their place when they have reaped a bumper potato harvest all over the Paektu plain without fail.
Japan's dangerous attempt for reinvasion of Korea
Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- A few days ago Japanese Prime Minister Obuchi unhesitatingly revealed his view that the transport of arms and ammunition can be an issue to be considered as part of Japan's cooperation in the operation of multi-national forces. And the Liberal Democratic Party and the Liberal Party of Japan shared the view that there is also a geographical factor in "a contingency in the areas surrounding Japan."
Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary says: This suggests the intention of the Japan "self-defense forces" to participate in the transport of arms and ammunition abroad and Japan's readiness to take part in a war in case of "emergencies" in the Korean peninsula, Russia, China and Taiwan and other areas around Japan.
The news analyst goes on:
These dangerous developments are a grave challenge to the peace and security in Asia.
The fact shows that Japan's frenzied overseas aggression has gone beyond the danger limit as it chose the DPRK as its primary target.
The Japanese reactionaries are well advised to think twice as the world is watching Japan's misbehaviour.
Chongryon hails DPRK's landmark measure for national reunification
Tokyo, February 6 (KNS-KCNA) -- So Man Sul, first vice-chairman of the central standing committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), welcomed and supported the measure for opening an epochal phase in the struggle for national reunification this year which was taken by the joint meeting of the DPRK's government, political parties and organizations.
In a statement on Feb. 5 he said that the proposed immediate measure is a patriotic appeal, a most timely initiative which fully reflects the ardent desire and will of all the fellow countrymen to save the grim situation in which the nation is exposed to the danger of war, put the earliest possible end to the tragedy and sufferings resulting from the division that has lasted for more than 50 years, and make a breakthrough toward national reunification this year without fail.
He further said:
If the authorities, political parties and organizations of South Korea are to honour their responsibility before the nation, they should drop dependence on outsiders and take the road of independence and great national unity, in response to the DPRK's proposal.
The South Korean authorities should take, above all, immediate, practical steps for the dialogue for reunification.
Chongryon will turn out as one in the sacred struggle to carry the DPRK's proposal into practice.
Outburst designed for reinvasion
Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- Japanese chief cabinet secretary Nonaka reportedly told a news conference on Thursday that another rocket launch of North Korea could lead to suspension of Japan's contributions to the project of light-water reactors.
He had already told the U.S. and South Korean authorities that the DPRK's suspension of missile launch should be raised as a precondition for lifting sanctions against the DPRK.
In fact, he meant Japan would intensify hostile and bellicose acts against the DPRK.
Last year the Japanese reactionaries branded the DPRK's satellite launch as "missile launch," suspended negotiation for improved ties between the two countries and declared a state of war, adding that they would take "strong countermeasure" and break with the DPRK.
What they want in fact is not improvement of DPRK-Japan ties but reinvasion of Korea. Japan's racket over "missile launch" is a move to find a pretext for reinvasion.
Before they call for improved ties with the DPRK, they must renounce their hostile, bellicose policy toward the DPRK, mindful that when worsened bilateral relations develop into a military conflict, Japan will have to pay dearly.
