Japanese figures visit Korea Hall
Tokyo, March 22 (KNS-KCNA) -- Osamu Yatabe, chairman of the central executive committee of the New Socialist Party, representative of the party and member of the House of Councilors of Japan, and Soko Shimabukuro, chairman and representative of the Okinawa Social Mass Party and member of the House of Councilors of Japan, visited the Korea Hall in Tokyo on March 18. They met and conversed with So Man Sul, first vice-chairman of the central standing committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), and Nam Sung U, director of the international affairs department of Chongryon. They said they were pleased with the fact that an agreement was recently reached between the DPRK and the United States and hailed it. They criticized the wrong attitude taken by Japan toward the issue of improving relations with the DPRK and said they would strive to make the Korea policy of the government rectified.
Anti-"restructuring" struggle in South Korea
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- Some 7,000 farmers affiliated with the National Association of Livestock Cooperatives in South Korea held a rally in Seoul on March 21 against the anti-social "restructuring" imposed by the authorities, according to a report. In a statement, the rallies expressed indignation at the misbehaviour of the authorities in ruining South Korea's stockbreeding industry by adopting a "decision on the merger."
The "government" hurriedly worked out a rough-and-ready restructuring program against the farmers and published it in a burglarious way, they said, adding: This is intended to shift the responsibility for its failure in agricultural policy onto the association and bring the organisation under its control. They demanded an immediate resignation of the "Minister of Agriculture and Forestry." Then came a street march. Upset by this, the South Korean authorities called out some 5,000 policemen of 55 companies to crack down upon their protest.
S. Korean authority's diatribe inciting confrontation
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- An endless string of jargons getting on the nerves of the north and fostering inter-Korean confrontation are heard from among South Korean authorities.
Typical of them were remarks made by the present chief executive and the "Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade" at a "meeting on reforms of state policies" on March 22. At the meeting, they said that the "policy of engagement with the north" would produce a "success", the north made "serious provocation" and that it is "necessary to put diplomatic pressure upon the north through international cooperation." Earlier, the "Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade" had made anti-reunification remarks that it was "worthless to place reunification above liberal democracy."
We have solemnly warned the self-proclaimed "government for the people" of South Korea of the anti-national, anti-reunification remarks being made openly by its authorities under the name of "the policy of engagement." This is because we cannot overlook the serious fact that the chief executive's north policy allegedly to improve inter-Korean relations through "reconciliation and cooperation" is based on the doctrine of confrontation under the veil of "engagement."
Such seriousness is being fully proved by feverish bravado being more frequently made by South Korean authorities as hours pass by. What they seek is not to achieve the historic task of national reunification but to attain their flunkeyist and traitorous aim for "unification through absorption" by fostering confrontation with the north in a more vicious way.
This time, the "Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade" unhesitatingly uttered very provocative remarks that the issue of repatriating "those abducted by the north" and "ROK army prisoners of war" must be internationalized and South Korea would join the international community in the efforts to "improve human rights situation in the north" and that it would "cooperate" with someone in solving the issue of "those abducted by the north."
His utterances cannot be construed otherwise than provocative remarks originating from the theory of confrontation with the north. The South Korean authorities had better act with prudence, mindful that they cannot conceal their ulterior intention and flunkeyist and traitorous nature no matter how feverishly they may try to cover their anti-national, anti-reunification doctrine of confrontation with the mask of "engagement."
"Fellowship society of defectors from north" in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- A few days ago, the South Korean authorities set up the "fellowship society of defectors from the north," according to a report. The organization is nothing but a waiting maid and a puppet of the government authorities composed of traitors to the nation and criminals. In forming the organization, the South Korean authorities seek to use them for their ulterior purpose of intensifying anti-north, anti-reunification confrontation moves and placate complaint, discontent and resistance which are daily mounting among defectors from the north.
As soon as they set their foot on the land of South Korea, the defectors are taken to the central joint investigation station, the "Intelligence Service" and other places, where they are treated like animals and put to all sorts of torture including the beating by clubs, becoming mental and physical cripples. In addition, they are placed under constant shadowing and watch. Moreover, unable to eke out their existence with meager money for settlement, they attempt to flee to other countries only to be thrown behind bars or commit suicide.
Worse still, they are reduced to robbers, thieves and murderers while living a degenerate life branded by South Korean people as "traitors to the country" and "scum who ran away, leaving their family members behind." Unable to endure inhuman treatment and contempt they had to undergo in South Korea after being allured or kidnapped by agents of the "Intelligence Service," an increasing number of defectors from the north lodge lawsuits or protests with the authorities against them.
The South Korean authorities formed the organisation as the last-ditch measure to control such movements of defectors, a new troublesome matter, and make them meekly obey their orders. With such an organization, however, the South Korean authorities can neither dampen the anti-"government" feelings of defectors from the north nor conceal the fact that South Korea is a veritable hell.
Resignation of incumbent chief executive of S. Korea demanded
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- Pak Kwang Gi, chief of the Pyongyang mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea, was interviewed by KCNA on Tuesday on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the March 24 Uprising against the treacherous "South Korea-Japan talks" and "South Korea-Japan agreement".
He said: The resistance flared up with the struggle of the students of Seoul National University in March Juche 53 (1964) against the "South Korea-Japan talks" as an occasion was a heroic deed which demonstrated to the whole world the patriotic spirit and indomitable stamina of youths, students and people to shatter the moves of the aggression forces of Japan and the flunkeyist quislings and defend the sovereignty and dignity of the nation. Though several decades have passed since then, the present South Korean rulers are getting more zealous in their moves to fling the door open for the Japanese militarist's reinvasion of Korea.
They sold off Tok Island, part of the territory of Korea, to Japan with outcries for "friendly relations" with Japan. By holding "summit talks" with the Japanese Prime Minister in Seoul some time ago, they committed unpardonable crimes of transferring all rights and interests of South Korea to Japan and obstructing the reunification of Korea. The incumbent chief executive of South Korea must draw a lesson from his predecessors who went to ruin while depending on outsiders, stop the sycophantic treacherous acts and step down at once as unanimously demanded by the people.
"Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade" hit for remarks
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- The South Korean "Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade" cried for "unification based on view on the value of liberal democracy," a reference to the wild ambition for "unification by prevailing over communism" and "unification" by imposing its system upon the north.
Minju Joson today describes his remarks as a revelation of the ulterior intention to expand the U.S. colonial domination and ferocious fascist repressive rule to the north. The news analyst says: If any of the two sides of Korea attempts to achieve reunification by imposing its system upon the other side, this will result in escalating confrontation and irrevocable disasters rather than the reunification of the country. Underlying the "viewpoint of unification" and "modality of unification" on the lips of the South Korean authorities is a theory of extreme confrontation.
Recently the South Korean authorities, including the chief executive, the "prime minister" and "defense minister," called the people in the North Korea "principal enemy." they persist in "cooperation" with outsiders to stifle the compatriots by force of arms. On the other hand, they, guided by the idea that the "sunshine policy" and "engagement policy" are the "mainstay of the policy towards the north," make desperate efforts to lead the north to "reform" and "opening."
All this stems from the wild ambition for "unification by prevailing over communism" and "unification" by imposing the system of the south upon the north based on the "view on the value of liberal democracy." The South Korean authorities had better stop trying to expand their decadent ruling system to the north.
U.S. and S. Korean war hawks hit for ill-boding movements
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comes out with a commentary denouncing the U.S. and South Korean war hawks for frequently staging military exercises against the DPRK on the land and at sea and in the sky. The news analyst says: The South Korean bellicose elements have staged an aerial surprise attack exercise, a joint drill and other maneuvers. It cannot be overlooked that the U.S. troops occupying South Korea decided to stage a drill of evacuating Americans in South Korea to Japan under the simulated conditions of "emergency" on the Korean peninsula from March 25 through 27. This is a dangerous development which can be seen only on the eve of war.
The U.S. and South Korean war hawks are these days busy with frequent war exercises under different names aimed at making an outbreak of war against the north a fait accompli, bringing war exercises closer to a real war and rounding off its preparations at the final stage. When the north has proposed wide-ranging dialogue to the south side out of the intention to open a new phase of peace and reunification, the South Korean warmongers are getting more frantic in war exercises against the north in collusion with outside forces. These war maneuvers will only result in precipitating their final ruin.
Heated argument about "party merger" in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- Confrontation between the "National Congress for New Politics" (NCNP) and the "United Liberal Democrats" (ULD) in South Korea is getting more intensified over the "merger of their parties" which was raised again in the ruling camp, according to a report. A leading faction of the "NCNP" composed of "veterans" who had attended the same school and come from the same factions, called for "merging" with the "ULD" and said that the merger must be oriented toward "political restructuring."
The "ULD" rejected the "NCNP's" offer for "the merger of parties," saying that it is a plot to evade the constitutional revision aimed at building a parliamentary system of government, and launched into "publicity activities for the parliamentary cabinet format". The "NCNP" raised the issue of the party merger after deciding to postpone "its national convention" slated for May. However, the "ULD" defiantly rejected this offer. This heated argument between the two ruling parties fully reflects the ulterior intention of political charlatans who have their own axes to grind in the scramble for power.
Now, the "NCNP" is trying to merge its party with the "ULD" in an attempt to extricate itself from the awkward position where it has to read the face of the "ULD," the other party of the ruling camp, although it took office and to make the "ULD" dissolved, build up its ranks and thus maintain its exclusive power. Its true intention is to evade the "parliamentary cabinet system" and disorganize the "ULD" calling for the system and thus help the present chief executive serve out his term of office.
However, the "ULD," which lives a shameless life under other's roof, refuses to accept the offer for the merger with the "NCNP." What it seeks in the "parliamentary cabinet system" is to make power transferred to the "prime minister" and thus take a position favourable for future scrambles for power.
Pyongyang Indoor Stadium
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Indoor Stadium is haunted by the citizens in the capital city of Pyongyang. It is visited by an increasing number of people in spring. The number of visitors stands at 4,000 on a daily average and it is 6,000 to 7,000 on Sundays and holidays.
The stadium standing by the Pothong River-side has accommodation for over 10,000 people and public service facilities. Ping-Pong tables are attracted at the first sight. At the tables in the halls ranging from the 1st floor to the 3rd some people tell their children how to play table-tennis and old men compete with young people for victory. On the 4th floor are places of amusements, including chess, Go chess and Yut. Arrangements have recently been made to teach people how to play Go chess.
Programs shown on large TVs in different parts of the stadium focus on sports technique and common sports knowledge. Electron beam firing range and electronic equipment for entertainment on the 3rd floor are very instrumental in extramural activities of schoolchildren. Basketball and tennis games of students and young workers outside the stadium are worth seeing. The stadium also has sauna and soft-drink counters. Youths and students dance in front of the stadium on holidays and commemoration days.
Young scientific personnel produced
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- Many promising scientific personnel have been produced in the DPRK to draw the attention of academic circles. Some time ago, one whole class of the communications faculty of Kim Chaek University of Technology graduated from it with master degrees. Their scientific and theoretical views on ultra-modern field of contemporary communications science created great sensation among academic circles.
During their university days, too, they greatly contributed to the modernization of TV broadcasting system and post and Tele-communications equipment and made a tangible input to the development of the national economy by registering valuable research successes including the establishment of a comprehensive command control system. A number of laudable research papers were also presented by Kim Il Sung University, the University of Science, Pyongyang University of Medicine, Jong Jun Thaek Wonsan University of economics and programme institute, and so on.
Over 2,500 candidate masters were produced from among university students across the country last year alone. The young intellectuals in their 20s and 30s who had proceeded to different domains of the national economy after their graduation in recent years have broken a new ground in scientific and technological fields and widely introduced up-to-date technology there. An electron microscope of 300,000 magnifications was also made by young scientists and technicians at the Taedonggang Reagent Company. They completed the microscope perfect both in mechanism and type in a matter of six months despite all difficulties.
New ideas on unified field theory which belongs to modern physics and other innovation proposals on element particles have been put forward by young intellectuals. Young scientists have also made a great contribution to the development of the national economy by completing their researches into the hydraulic comprehensive distribution control device, multi-functional robots and rapid crystallization of cement intensity, and so on. A great stride has been made in the building of a powerful nation thanks to inexhaustible creative power of the young intellectuals who are conscious of the mission of the time.
Sycophantic traitors deserve severe punishment
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- 35 years has passed since the South Korean people, including students, protested against the South Korea-Japan "talks" of treachery and aggression.
Papers here today run articles to commemorate the anti-imperialist, anti-fascist resistance for independence, democracy and reunification against foreign aggression and intervention and colonial fascist dictatorship. The cries of the protesters for independence, democracy and reunification keep ringing out in South Korea, but they have not yet come true, Rodong Sinmun says, and goes on: The world is going in for independence and democracy. South Korea, however, still remains a colonial fascist dictatorial society dependent on outsiders.
The U.S. and Japanese reactionaries intensify aggression, intervention and plunder in South Korea. As a consequence, the South Korean people have the dignity and interests of the nation trampled underfoot. They are subject to national humiliation and insult. Not a day has passed by without their lamentation for the tragic fate of statelessness. This is attributed to the dastardly flunkeyist treacheries of the South Korean authorities.
The humiliating treacheries are the outcome of their begging for "cooperation" against the fellow countrymen, as well as for a few pennies. They have left South Korea lock, stock and barrel to the tender mercy of the U.S. They, not content with this, clear the way for reinvasion by the Japanese militarists. They are the most vicious flunkeyist traitors. Minju Joson urges the South Korean authorities to stop at once committing the dastardly flunkeyist treachery against the country and nation, with the backing of outside forces.
U.S.'s strategy for "formation, counteraction and preparation"
Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries a signed article exposing the danger of the new U.S. aggressive strategy for "formation, counteraction and preparation". The daily says: This is a strategy for military intervention of global scale that calls for forming security relations in favour of the U.S. national interests, tiding over all forms of crises and getting ready to cope with any uncertain threat in future and an aggressive military strategy for its future comprising the 21st century as well as the present century. By the strategy for "formation of security relations in favour of the U.S. national interests" the United States means deploying its troops in the regions where there are its strategic and economic interests and bringing them under military control, thus creating favourable conditions for undertaking any military actions as it wishes.
By "uncertain threat in future" the U.S. has in mind those countries and forces which may challenge the United States in future and elements that may be obstacles to its arbitrary military actions and hegemonic policy. By "preparation" and "counteraction" the United States means to take precautionary military measures to contain all elements that may be deterrent forces in the way of executing its aggressive strategy in the 21st century. To this end, the United States is trying to build an "expeditionary aerospace army" and using the 100,000-strong force present in east Asia as a major lever for the implementation of this strategy.
New method of treatment of prostatic hypertrophy
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- Korean medical scientists have registered success in the treatment of prostatic hypertrophy, a typical disease of the aged. The Pyongyang People's Hospital No.3 recently developed a new method of treatment of the disease, much more effective than TUR-P (transurethral resection of the prostate), the world trend of treatment, and introduced it into clinical treatment.
This method needs very simple equipment and shorter time of treatment (about 7 days) and operation (24 minutes) than previous methods. Several complications can be prevented as this method involves a small quantity of perfusive liquid (1-2 liters) due to rare bleeding during operation. So, this method of treatment can be applied to the old patients or the men who have heart or blood vessel troubles.
