Collection of Kim Il Sung's works Vol. 25 published
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- Volume 25 of the complete collection of Kim Il Sung's works, the library of the Juche idea, was brought out by the Worker's Party of Korea Publishing House on the threshold of Sun's Day. This volume contains reports, speeches, conclusions, talks and other immortal writings, 28 in all, published by the President Kim Il Sung between January and August Juche 49 (1960). Contained in the works are the outstanding ideas, theories and policies he put forward to strengthen the driving forces of the revolution in every way, accelerate socialist construction and invigorate the struggle for national reunification, acquiring a deep insight into the requirements of the developing Korean revolution and the trend of the situation.
Film show to commemorate Sun's Day
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang City People's Committee on Friday sponsored a film show at the Taedonggang Club for the diplomatic corps with the approach of Sun's Day. Chinese residents here were invited to the show. The participants saw the documentary film "the Great Life in 1994" showing the tireless revolutionary activities of the President Kim Il Sung.
President Kim Il Sung praised by Indian
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- N. K. Shukra, joint secretary of the All-India Peasants' Federation, made public a statement last Saturday on the threshold of the birth anniversary of the President Kim Il Sung. He said in the statement that President Kim Il Sung, born into a patriotic and revolutionary family, devoted his all only to the fatherland and the people for many years. The President clearly indicated the way for the era and revolution to follow by founding the Juche idea for the first time in history, the statement noted. It stressed that his revolutionary feats in founding the idea and carrying it into practice are a common wealth, which will shine forever along with the cause of human liberation.
Palestinian ambassador gives reception
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- Palestinian ambassador to Korea Shaher Mohammed Abdlah gave a reception at his embassy on Friday with the approach of the birth anniversary of the President Kim Il Sung and on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission.
Invited to the reception were vice-president Yang Hyong Sop of the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun and chairman Ryom Sun Gil of the central committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, who is also chairman of the Korea-Palestine Friendship and Solidarity Committee, and others.
The ambassador said in his speech that the Palestinian leadership headed by President Yasser Arafat and its people cherish the noblest and most beautiful memory of the President Kim Il Sung. Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission is an expression of the determination and will of all the Korean people to carry forward Kim Il Sung's cause in a revolutionary way, he stressed, and went on: The Palestinian people will always value the friendly and cooperative relations with Korea, the first country which gave aid to Palestine when it was in the hardest time.
Yang Hyong sop in his speech said the respected Marshal Kim Jong Il always values long-standing friendship with the Palestinian people and pays deep attention to its continued development. True to President Kim Il Sung's behest and Marshal Kim Jong Il's intention, the Korean people will strive to further strengthen and develop the friendly and cooperative relations with Palestine and invariably stand by its people struggling to regain their legitimate national rights.
Commemorative events on Sun's Day
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- A seminar of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea, an oratorical meeting of agricultural workers and an oath-taking meeting of the women's union were held here on Friday on the threshold of the 87th birth anniversary of the President Kim Il Sung.
Speakers at the seminar noted that President Kim Il Sung had brought a genuine life and happiness to the Korean people including agricultural workers by pursuing the politics based on love and trust in the people, the benevolent politics. The seminar praised "theses on the socialist rural question in our country", a work published by President Kim Il Sung, as a program to be held fast to invariably by the organizations of the Union of Agricultural Workers.
Those who took the floor at the oratorical meeting earnestly appealed to the agricultural workers to become patriots and heroes who uphold the Worker's Party of Korea and the leader by increasing the grain production with pure conscience. The meeting of the women's union members renewed their pledge to add luster to the undying revolutionary achievements of President Kim Il Sung and remain loyal to the leadership of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Il, highly praising him who had carried into practice the cause for the immortality of the President at the highest level.
Joint performance in 17th art festival
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- A German musical ensemble, which had come here to participate in the 17th April Spring Friendship Art Festival, and the Yun I Sang Orchestra gave a joint performance at the Yun I Sang concert hall before the opening of the festival. Seeing the performance were vice-chairman Kim Yong Sin of the festival organizing committee, Ri Su Ja, widow of Yun I Sang, officials concerned and Pyongyangites. The performers represented well the thematic contents of the music pieces with peculiar and characteristic tone color and a harmony in ensemble. An orchestra "Song of Loyalty," a soprano solo "We sing of happiness of having leader," and so on. Performed by artistes of the Yun I Sang orchestra were also acclaimed by the audience.
"Army airforce operational command"
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- The South Korean rulers announced that they would found "army airforce operational command" on April 20, a Seoul-based radio report said. The "command" is reportedly to be found by "joining the army airforce power in such a way as to ensure offensives characterized by strategic and operational battles." Their announcement illustrates that their moves for war against the north are being pushed to a more practical phase.
Mongolian art troupe performs in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, April 1o (KCNA) -- The Mongolian art troupe staying here to participate in the 17th April Spring Friendship Art Festival gave a performance here on Friday before its opening. It was appreciated by vice-chairpersons of the organizing committee of the festival Kung Sok Ung and Kim Yong Sin as well as working people and artistes in the city. Mongolian ambassador to Korea D. Byambaa and embassy officials saw the performance. Mongolian artistes put on the stage a colorful program prepared by them with sincerity. It included Korean songs "Long Live Generalissimo Kim Il Sung", "Thunder on Jong Il Peak" and so on.
Foreign guests visit several places
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- Foreign diplomatic corps in the DPRK visited the Paeksong Revolutionary Site in Phyongsong city, South Phyongan Province, on Friday on the occasion of Sun's Day. The President Kim Il Sung visited the place in April, Juche 41 (1952) when the Fatherland Liberation War was at its height. Kim Il Sung University was situated there at that time.
During his visit he acquainted himself with student's study and living in detail and showed warm loving care for them. He made a historic speech which indicated a road to be followed by it. The guests looked round historic mementos, hearing an explanation about the president's great favors and immortal exploits. The economic and commercial councilors corps in Korea visited the monument to the party founding and the Pyongyang cultural exhibition that day.
6th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's election to NDC chairmanship
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- Public security men and servicemen of the People's Security Force met on April 9 to pledge loyalty to General Secretary Kim Jong Il and had a gala evening to mark the 6th anniversary of his election to the chairmanship of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK. The participants in the meeting vowed to firmly defend the political system with the burning hatred for the class enemy. At the end of the meeting there was an art performance. Then followed a gala evening. More than 10,000 youths and students in Pyongyang gave a national defense mass gymnastic display "we will devotedly defend Pyongyang, the heart of the revolution" at the Kim Il Sung Square. Gala evenings of youths and students took place in different parts of the country.
First Kimilsungia Show
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- The Kimilsungia Show is today open at the Pyongyang International House of Culture to mark Sun's Day (April 15.) Displayed in various forms are more than 800 Kimilsungia in full bloom, touted as an immortal flower.Those flowers have been raised with the utmost care by the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, the Ministry of Public Security, the Academy of Sciences, the Central Botanical Garden, the North Hwanghae Provincial Botanical Garden and other national and local institutions and individuals.
The Ministry of the People's Armed Forces exhibited some one 100 Kimilsungia against the backdrop of the red flag flanked by the old home of President Kim Il Sung in Mangyongdae and the Kumsusan Memorial Palace. In the center are letters written with azaleas reading "Sun's Day," rimmed with Kimjongilias. The Ministry of Public Security put on display over 200 Kimilsungia and flowers of various other specimens in a peculiar way along with a picture of General secretary Kim Jong Il appreciating Kimilsungia. The North Hwanghae Provincial Botanical Garden displayed Kimilsungia decorated with other flowers against the backdrop of Mt. Jongbang, which has turned into a holiday resort for the people. Also arranged there are 6 Kimilsungia from the Indonesian embassy here.
A Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia art exhibition is open, too. Exhibited are more than one hundred art works created by well-known artists from national and local institutions, including the Mansudae Art Studio, the Korean Central Art Production Company and provincial art production companies. The flower show and art exhibition will last till April 17.
President Kim Il Sung lauded
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today runs an article on the President Kim Il Sung's undying exploits for global independence. The author of the article says the President embarked upon the road of the revolution in his early years and conducted tireless revolutionary activities to pave the new way for the Korean revolution and global independence.
The article further says: The President put forward the philosophical principle that man is the master of his own destiny and has the strength to shape his own destiny and the revolutionary truth that one should believe in one's own strength and rely on it in shaping one's own destiny and achieving the independent development of one's country and nation. That holds a brilliant place in the revolutionary activities and exploits of the president who cleared the way for global independence.
It is of weighty importance for global independence to defend and develop socialism. The President gave a scientific elucidation of the validity and truthfulness of socialism and the necessity of its findal victory. He also gave a flawless exposition of all the principles and theoretical and practical questions arising in socialist construction. That gave a strong impetus to the efforts for socialism of the world's revolutionary people aspiring after socialism.
He elucidated in a scientific way the collapse of the east-west Cold War structure centering around the two superpowers and the direction of historic development. He indicated the immutability and invincibility of socialism. As a result, a sure guarantee was given for defense, revival and development of socialism. He indicated all the requirements for global independence--for all the countries and nations to adhere to independence, preserve and strengthen the non-aligned movement, expand and upgrade the south-south cooperation and establish a sound international relationship.
Progressive humankind should fight against the imperialists and dominationists and for replacement of the old international order of domination and subordination with a new impartial international order in firm unity in hearty response to the contemporary internationlist slogan "Let the world people advocating independence unite " put up by the president. Only then is it possible to realize global independence. The cause of global independence which was pioneered by the President Kim Il Sung and is now led by General Secretary Kim Jong Il is sure to come true.
17th April spring friendship art festival opens
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- The 17th April Spring Friendship Art Festival opened at the 6,000-seat theatre of the April 25 House of Culture here today. The festival, a gathering of artistes from many countries around the world and Korean artistes here and from abroad, has been a traditional event to mark Sun's Day, the birth anniversary of the President Kim Il Sung, in Pyongyang from Juche 71 (1982).
Attending the opening ceremony together with working people in the city were premier Hong Song Nam of the cabinet, vice-president Yang Hyong Sop of the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, secretary Kim Ki Nam of the Worker's Party of Korea Central Committee and Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun. Present there were artistes and cultural officials from different countries all over the world and Korean artistes from abroad. Also on hand were foreign diplomatic envoys and embassy staff here.
Chairman Jang Chol of the organising committee of the festival, addressing the ceremony, said a lot of friends of the world are in Korea with warm feelings of friendship and unity as a token of the unanimous desire of the progressive artistes of the world to preserve proud traditions of the April Spring Friendship Art Festival, as well as of support and inspiration to the sacred revolutionary cause of the Korean people who are in the process of building a powerful socialist nation. He expressed the belief that the festival would be successful.
Hong Song Nam in his congratulatory speech said he was pleased with the Pyongyang festival firmly defending its idea and position in keeping with the trend of the era and history and greatly helping realize the desire and apirations of humankind. The government of the DPRK will in the future, too, steadily upgrade national culture and art in accordance with the Juche-based line of building literature and arts and, at the same time, work harder for cultural cooperation and exchange with different countries throughout the world in the idea of independence, peace and friendship, he added.
Then followed congratulatory speeches by the heads of an Indonesian cultural delegation, a Chinese government cultural delegation and the Russian Alexandrov Army Choir and Dance Ensemble and a Romanian art troupe. At the end of the opening ceremony Korean artistes gave a performance.
Slogans for great national unity and reunification adopted
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- A plenum of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland (CPRF) in Pyongyang today had discussions on "on adopting slogans for great national unity and reunification on the occasion of the first anniversary of the five-point policy of great national unity advanced by the great leader Marshal Kim Jong Il." Kim Yong Sun, secretary of the Central Committee of the Worker's Party of Korea and vice-chairman of the CPRF, made a report.
He said the five-point policy of great national unity is, indeed, a great political charter that gives flawless scientific answers to all the theoretical and practical questions arising in achieving great national unity. The CPRF's slogans, adopted at the plenum, define great national unity as the mainstay of national reunification.
They call for opening an epochal phase of great national unity and reunification through strict adherence to the five-point policy of great national unity, laid down by the Marshal. They also call for achieving great unity of the entire nation on the principle of national independence, as well as firm unity of the whole nation under the patriotic banner of national reunification. They call for turning inter-Korean relations into those of trust and reconciliation from those of mistrust and confrontation.
They call for repeal of the "National Security Law" against national reconciliation and unity. They underscore the need to check and frustrate foreign domination and interference violating the sovereignty of the nation in South Korea and resolutely oppose and reject the moves of the U.S. and Japanese war hawks for "Theatre Missile Defense" system.
They highlight the importance of developing contacts and dialogue among broad segments of people as well as among all parties, groupings and figures of various circles in the north, south and abroad that want the independent, peaceful reunification of the country and of strengthening solidarity among people in the north, south and abroad.
They call for an early realization of the most reasonable and realistic three charters of national reunification, laid down by the great leader President Kim Il Sung and for thoroughgoing implementation of his instructions for national reunification. They call upon the 70 million Koreans to turn out as one in the efforts for building a unified confederal state, a unified state of the nation at any cost in a few years to come.
The plenum decided to take a step to send the slogans to all political parties, organisations and personages of various circles in South Korea and abroad. Attending the plenum were honorary vice-president Pak Song Chol of the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK and others.
