The present crafty and atrocious "government" is resorting to suppression on one hand and appeasement on the other in a bid to dampen the people's May fighting spirit, it said. This is no more than the last-ditch effort of the weaker driven into a tight corner.

Japan's ulterior intention revealed again
Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries a signed commentary denouncing Japanese high-ranking officials for taking issue with the DPRK again.
Some time ago, the chief executive of Japan in a joint news conference with the U.S. President talked about nuclear and missile "threat" from the DPRK and "suspected abduction". And during his stay in a foreign country a the leader of the Democratic Party of Japan prattled about the "suspected nuclear development" of the DPRK.
The news analyst says: Their preposterous remarks betray the ulterior intention of the Japanese authorities.
The Japanese authorities never open their mouth without talking about the improvement of relations with the DPRK.
However, they are now spreading the rumour about DPRK's "threat" and "suspicion" and thus revealing by themselves that they do not truly want the improvement of relations.
What is grave is that they intend to take the road of overseas aggression in real earnest on the pretext of "threat" from the DPRK. Overseas aggression is the invariable ambition of the Japanese militarists.
The Japanese reactionary ruling quarters needed a pretext to justify their moves for overseas aggression. It is the fiction of nuclear and missile "threat" from the DPRK on the lips of the Japanese reactionaries.
They are scheming to put a label of "terrorism" on the DPRK in a bid to impair its ever mounting greatness and external authority.
No matter how hard they may resort to double-dealing tactics, the general situation will not change as they want.

Self-proclaimed "people's government" denounced
Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- The South Korean self-proclaimed "people's government" rulers made desperate efforts to cover up their dirty colors by loudly talking about "achievements" during their tenure of office.
More than 2.3 million people were investigated by public prosecutors in South Korea last year alone. Meanwhile, prisoners of conscience 4.6 times as many as over those in one year of the "civilian-veiled government" were put behind bars and over 6,300 people on a daily average were arrested, imprisoned and punished.
The fascist clique of self-proclaimed "people's government" mobilized over 20,000 riot police, helicopter gunboats and armored cars to suppress the demonstrations of people.
More than 53,000 enterprises went bankrupt during one year of the self-proclaimed "people's government" rule.
Commodity export value in February decreased by 16 percent as against the same period of last year, which was the lowest in 14 years.
Though the present ruling quarters vociferously clamored for overcoming the "crisis of foreign currency," the foreign debts at the end of January amounted to 176.9 billion dollars, an increase of 25.3 billion dollars over that last year.
In a year after the appearance of the "people's government", the "defence spending" reached 13,749 billion won and the number of war exercises against the north increased ten times over that in the same period of the "civilian-veiled government".
The present rulers offered 390 million dollars for upkeep of U.S. troops in South Korea in the first year after they came into power under the cloak of "defence cost sharing". The amount is an increase of 36 million dollars over the figure of the previous year.
The figures and facts fully reveal the dirty colors of the "people's government" which has been engaged in irregularities, lording it over the people.
DPRK's three charters of national reunification hailed
Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- A lecture meeting on the three charters of national reunification was held in Georgetown on May 11 under the sponsorship of the Guyana-Korea Friendship Association.
Chairman of the association Samuel Soul, said that, badly pained to see Korea divided into two, Kim Il Sung, the eternal President of the DPRK put forward the most reasonable and realistic proposals to reunify the country by means of confederacy on the basis of the three principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity.
The great leader Kim Jong Il formulated the President's proposals on reunification as three charters of national reunification and made all efforts to realise them, he noted.
Secretary general Sonya Pasy stressed that the main obstacle to Korea's reunification is the U.S. forces' occupation of South Korea and the separatist forces of South Korea are suppressing the pro-reunification patriotic movement and democratic forces by depending on foreign forces.
He strongly called for an immediate withdrawal of the U.S. troops from South Korea and prompt removal of all obstacles to the reunification of Korea such as "National Security Law", "intelligence service" and concrete wall.
Anniversary of Kwangju Popular Uprising marked
Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a by-lined article to the 19th anniversary of the heroic Kwangju Popular Uprising in South Korea.
It was South Korean people's resistance of justice and their massive armed uprising opposing the colonial fascist rule of the U.S. and their stooges and aspiring after democracy of society and national reunification, the article says, and goes on: The Kwangju popular uprising was quelled mercilessly by the brutal armed forces under the manipulation of the U.S. However, it dealt a telling blow at the colonial and fascist dictatorial rule of the U.S. and their lackeys and gave great impetus to the South Korean people's movement for independence, democracy and reunification and the world's oppressed people's struggle for national liberation.
Though 19 years have passed since the resistance, the desire of upraises who shed their blood of patriotism, has not yet been realized. The bloody lesson from the uprising is that with the U.S. aggression troops in South Korea left intact, it is impossible for the South Korean people to free themselves from the yoke of colonial enslavement and to remove the danger of war on the Korean peninsula and realize the nation's desire for reunification of the country.
Students and other people in South Korea should vigorously wage an anti-U.S. struggle for independence to drive out the U.S. from South Korea and retake the deprived national dignity and sovereignty and anti-"government" struggle to wipe out traitors to the nation.
Single-hearted unity based on revolutionary comradeship
Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries an article on our single-hearted unity based on the revolutionary comradeship which is being cemented through ordeals.
The solidity of single-hearted unity is based on the revolutionary comradeship, the signed article says, and goes on: The noble revolutionary comradeship prevailing in our society, first of all, enables our people to bear in mind loyalty to the leader.
Revolutionaries learn how precious revolutionary comrades are under the loving care of the leader and cultivate comradely love in his noble revolutionary comradeship. That is why revolutionaries think of the loving care of the leader and harden their vow to remain loyal to him whenever they enjoy love from comrades.
The noble revolutionary comradeship is an important factor of consolidating the unity of our revolutionary ranks in thought and purpose.
Revolutionaries pool their will and mind in the world of noble comradeship and share their fate with comrades, during which they grasp the revolutionary idea of the leader as their faith and achieve the unanimity of idea.
The noble revolutionary comradeship is a powerful instrument in decisively foiling all moves of the enemies to break our single-hearted unity.
No matter how viciously the imperialists and the class enemies may maneuver to break our single-hearted unity, they can never break the unity based on revolutionary comradeship.
