More F-15 fighter planes deployed

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- The U.S. additionally deployed in South Korea 12 F-15 fighter planes from their mainland on Wednesday, according to a Seoul-based radio report. Earlier, the warmongers introduced a large number of war equipment including ground attack planes and fighter bombers till last April. They are scheming to bring in six fighter planes in near future. This is part of foolish war maneuvers of the warlike forces to unleash a new war of aggression in the Korean peninsula under the signboard of filling up the "vacuum of combat power" from the Yugoslav crisis.

S. Korean workers go on overall strike

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- More than 2,700 members of the Ulsan Factory Trade Union under the Hyun Dai Precision Ind. Co., Ltd. went on an overall strike against the "restructuring" on Wednesday, according to a South Korean newspaper. They strongly called for stable jobs. On the same day the trade union held departmental meetings and declared that it would intensify the strike until their just demands are met.

S. Korean rulers' moves to put forward former dictators

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- The secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland published information bulletin no. 787 on May 19 denouncing the South Korean authorities for scheming to put forward former military fascist dictators again.
The information bulletin said: The South Korean authorities recently said that they would construct a "memorial" of Park Chung Hee who had resorted to the treacheries, division, fascism and war moves for 18 years before being killed. And they are conniving at and patronizing the behaviour of Kwangju murderer Chun Doo Hwan who is mocking the people by announcing his "visit to Kwangju".
This fully shows that although the South Korean rulers are proclaiming their regime the "people's government," they are tarred with the same brush as the former military fascist dictators and are following in the footsteps of their predecessors. The South Korean authorities are plotting to mercilessly trample underfoot the massive struggle of the workers and people for vital rights and democracy in a bid to commit a "second Kwangju bloodbath".
They should give up at once the anti-historic, anti-social moves to revive the ghost of the "Yusin" fascist dictatorship and bring the traitor Chun Doo Hwan to a trial by history and stop the unreasonable suppression of the labour movement unconditionally as unanimously demanded by the people.

S. Korean authorities' suppression of labour movement

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comes out with a signed commentary accusing the South Korean authorities of ruthlessly cracking down upon cadres of trade unions under the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) which has begun the second general strike.
The news analyst says: On May 17, the "public security department of the supreme public prosecutor's office" of South Korea started an operation to arrest the chairman and five other cadres of the Federation of Metal Trade Unions under the KCTU according to warrants of arrests issued on charges of violating the "law on assembly and demonstration."
The "prosecution" also demanded warrants of arrests for two leaders of the federation including the director of its organising department and the chairman of the Medical Service Industrial Trade Unions. Such deeds of the South Korean authorities are part of the premeditated repressive campaign to put down the ever mounting righteous struggle of workers. These are an unpardonable challenge to the workers calling for vital rights and democratic freedom.
The struggle of the KCTU and other workers' organisations for democracy and vital rights cannot be an "illegal" struggle and the target of suppression in any case. South Korean workers are going on strikes, unable to eke out their existence. Nevertheless, the South Korean authorities, far from lending an ear to their ardent demands, are ruthlessly cracking down upon them. This is a very illegal deed which fully reveals the fascist nature of the self-proclaimed "government for the people."
The South Korean rulers must draw a serious lesson from lots of preceding dictators who sustained a miserable defeat for their frantic fascist suppression, put an immediate end to the layoff and "restructuring" as demanded by the workers and unconditionally guarantee democratic freedom and rights of workers including three rights of labour. And it must stop the crackdown upon the KCTU and its affiliated organisations at once and release all the arrested people promptly.

Kwangju forerunners' desire should be realized

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- The spokesman of the Japan mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) made public a statement on May 18, the 19th anniversary of the heroic Kwangju Popular Uprising. He said that the uprising was a historic event which is of epochal significance in the national democratic movement aspiring after independence, democracy and reunification.
The people in the south have waged a valiant struggle against U.S. and for independence and national reunification in the spirit of the uprising, but they have not yet realized the wishes of the forerunners, he stated, and went on: The Kim Dae Jung self-proclaimed "people's government" is turning against the people who helped him during his days in the opposition, intensifying the "National Security Law" and "Intelligence Service" and cracking down on the people by a more brutal and crafty method.
The reality makes it incumbent upon us to wage a valiant struggle holding higher the slogan of anti-U.S. independence, anti-fascist democratization and national reunification. The Japan mission of the NDFSK will redouble its efforts in the van of the South Korean people in order to carry into practice the desire of the Kwangju forerunners at an early date.

Kim Il Sung, outstanding leader of people

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- Seychelles President France Albert Rene, when he met the new DPRK Ambassador E.P. to his country on May 11, said the President Kim Il Sung was the outstanding leader of the people who devoted all his life to them and that the Korean people believed in and followed him as heaven.
He noted that Korea is the only country where the leader believes in the people and they follow the leader. He said he was convinced that the Korean people will overcome difficulties and ordeals and surely display the might of a powerful socialist nation in the near future because they are guided by the great leader Kim Jong Il who is identical with Kim Il Sung.

Seminar held in Guyana

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- A joint seminar on the three principles of Korea's reunification was held by Juche idea study organizations in Guyana on May 13. Robert Williams, general secretary of the Good Green Guyana and deputy Mayor of Georgetown, in his speech said that the three principles of national reunification --independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity -- put forward by the President Kim Il Sung are a historic program common to the nation for the reunification of Korea.
He noted that the government of the DPRK and the Worker's Party of Korea regard them as the fundamental principles of the reunification of the country and are struggling for national reunification with them as a starting point no matter how the internal and external situation may change.
Peter Persaud, leader of the Amerindian Action Movement of Guyana, said that Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il set forth the most rational proposals for the reunification of Korea and energetically led the struggle for their realization.
The speakers explained and proved the contents of the three principles and their validity and vitality in combination with the five-point policy of great national unity indicated by the great leader Kim Jong Il and the proposal put forward at a joint meeting of the DPRK government, political parties and organizations held this year.

Suppression of democratic patriotic forces

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) published a statement on May 14 denouncing the South Korean ruling quarters for arresting members of the Seoul Progressive Youth Society and brutally suppressing the organization, said Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation.
The organization had opened and operated youth schools for awakening workers and waged a worker-student solidarity struggle to gain the three rights of labour, he said, and continued: The Kim Dae Jung fascist group is undisguisedly revealing an attempt to suppress the organization under the pretext of "public security", branding it as a "pro-north, pro-communist organization" that is aspiring after the "building of a mass socialist political party".
The worker's anti-"government" struggle is gaining momentum following the declaration of the general strike by the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and it shows signs of expanding into the anti-"government" worker-student solidarity struggle. Upset by this, the fascist group hatched a plot to seek a new pretext for suppression of the labour movement and break the ever mounting spirit of solidarity between the workers of the north and the south for reunification.
The Kim Dae Jung group must give up a foolish attempt to stamp out the democratic patriotic forces, including those of the democratic labour movement.

Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- Extracurricular education bases for children, called "king" of the country, have been built in the DPRK. Among them is the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace which is peculiar in scale, contented and architectural style.
The palace, which marks the 10th anniversary of its foundation this year (May 1989), is situated in Mangyongdae district, Pyongyang. It has been equipped with all facilities needed for schoolchildren's circle activity, including circle rooms, a swimming pool, a gymnasium, a library which can house 100,000 books, a 2,000-seat theatre and motor driving practice ground. It is run and administered entirely at state expense.
The palace has more than 700 rooms, at which over 12,000 schoolchildren conduct their circle activities every day. There are more than 600 teachers, who run over 200 circles of science, education, art and physical culture and sports. Since its foundation 8.7 million schoolchildren finished their circle courses. A large number of international champions and promising able men came from among circle members and graduates.
Typical of the graduates are a Judoka Pae Tong Suk, Go-chess player Mun yong Sam and Kim Yong Song and Im Myong Jin who won special prize and cup at international accordion concours. More than 20 graduates of the sports circle gained gold medals in world and Asian championships. The palace has been visited so far at least by 160,000 foreigners from more than 100 countries.

S. Korean rulers scheme to buy aircraft

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities plan to purchase five airplanes of new type from France by late July, a South Korean newspaper said. The aircraft is said to be used for leading an air target for naval gunfire exercise and for sea patrol. The authorities have allocated 33 billion won for the purchase of those planes.

Kim Il Sung's view on value of happiness

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- The outlook on happiness of the President Kim Il Sung was a special one unprecedented in history and his greatest happiness was that he was blessed with his people, comrades and successor. Rodong Sinmun on Wednesday said this in a political essay entitled "Our Leader's Outlook on Happiness."
The essay said: President Kim Il Sung's lifelong view on the value of happiness was that one who enjoys love from people is happy, but one who doesn't is unhappy. Regarding the idea of "the people are my god" as his lifelong motto, he had a great institution of life in the guerrilla way, without a wedding dress and feast, like a soldier, though he was the commander of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army.
Although he was at head of the party and the state, he had the same meals of millet with people's and saw to it that the same amount of food with that for an ordinary official was supplied to his family. In this way, he led a humble and simple life, like an ordinary people, until the last moments of his great life.
He considered it as greatest happiness to make friends and felt greater joy and satisfaction at making each friend than at getting gold. Especially, it was his greatest fortune to have had Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese heroine and the supreme incarnation of loyalty, as his close revolutionary comrade-in-arms and life partner. It was the greatest blessing and happiness of the President to have Kim Jong Il, the great son of guerrillas, as the only successor to his cause.
The President was the supreme personifier of the noble view on happiness. He regarded it greater happiness to devote than to enjoy. He had traveled a long journey of on-site guidance for the people until the last period of his great life, from the very day when he visited workers in Kangson without a call at his dear old home after the liberation of the country.
His great joy and happiness was to devote all his love and affection to comrades. He valued the blessings with his successor above anything else and had done all he could to honor the blessings and leave more legacy for the Kim Jong Il era.
He personally worked out and signed a decree on making it traditional to splendidly celebrate the respected leader Kim Jong Il's birthday as a greatest holiday of the nation. And he personally chose the site of a large attachment to the international friendship exhibition to preserve gifts to Kim Jong Il and took all measures for its construction. He took heavy works of his own accord for Kim Jong Il.
Noting that Kim Jong Il achieved the cause of immortalizing the life of President Kim Il Sung for the first time in history, the essay said: Thus, the President is still alive in the hearts of the Korean people as before and will be with us for all ages. He, who is preserved in state, illumines the road ahead of the people and encourages them with his sacred image while being blessed with the people.

True nature of contemporary imperialism

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries an article calling for looking squarely in the true nature of contemporary imperialism.
To clearly see the true nature of imperialism is an important demand for establishing the steadfast outlook on the revolution, the article says, and goes on: For the Juche-based outlook on the revolution to be established, it is necessary not only to have a correct viewpoint and stand on the driving force of the revolution but also to know well the true nature of imperialism. Only then is it possible to struggle against imperialism to the end with staunch fighting spirit and preparedness.
It is more important to quite grasp the nature of imperialism because the imperialists are getting more vicious and cunning in aggression and war moves. The imperialists are now resorting to "appeasement" strategy while viciously maneuvering to strike the world community with terror to them. Therefore, it is an important guarantee for vigorously waging the anti-imperialist struggle.
What is important in looking squarely in the true nature of contemporary imperialism is, above all, to see through the intention of the imperialists clamoring about the "gloomy prospect" of socialism. Imperialism is in a dilemma and its future is gloomy. That is why the imperialists have been flinging mud at the prospect of socialism.
It is also important to correctly understand the imperialists' deceptive sophism whereby they prattle capitalism is prospering. Today the developed capitalist countries seem to be prospering in appearance, but they are becoming degenerated with daily growing internal contradictions.
