KCNA lashes out at U.S.'s madcap war moves
Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- The United States recently egged the South Korean authorities on to spark an armed conflict in the West Sea of Korea. However, the South Korean authorities were hit hard in the conflict. The U.S. has begun massively reinforcing their aggression forces in South Korea in the wake of the incident. The U.S. introduced two ultra-modern nuclear-powered submarines into South Korea and sent the aircraft carrier "Kitty Hawk" to Japan under the pretext of "coping with the tense situation on the Korean peninsula."
The U.S. Defense Department announced that aircraft carriers and many fighter planes have been placed on the alert to cope with the "emergency" in Korea. These military actions of the U.S. have created a touch- and-go situation in the Korean peninsula. This is arousing a deep concern among the Korean people and the world peaceloving people.
The U.S. is going to put the adventurous scenario of war against the north "operation plan 5027-98" into practice, taking advantage of the west sea incident. The U.S., which egged the South Korean authorities on to attack the north first, is spreading a false rumour about the north's "provocation" in a bid to start a total war against it.
However, the u.s. Is seriously mistaken. The Korean peninsula is not the Balkans. It is the unshakable faith and spirit of the Korean people and people's army to meet the aggressors' challenge with a thousand-fold deadly blow and answer a war of aggression with a just liberation war. The U.S. and their followers are well advised to clearly see who their opponent is and act with discretion.
Korean book, photo and handicraft exhibition held abroad
Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- A Korean book, photo and handicraft exhibition was held at the Auckland City Hall in New Zealand from June 8 to 13. Displayed there were famous works of the President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il and books, photos and handicraft which show the advantage of the Korean-style socialism.
At its opening ceremony the general secretary of the New Zealand Socialist Unity party said that the Korean people are now defending their cause united as one under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il, though they are undergoing temporary difficulties caused by the blockade of the United States and by years of natural disasters.
Our retaliation is merciless, warns KCNA
Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities are now rushing headlong towards unprecedentedly adventurous military actions after the armed conflict took place at the West Sea of Korea.
They issued an order of "emergency alert" to all the "ROK" army units, an order "operation in emergency no.2" to the police across South Korea and a "mobilization order" to the government employees. By this order the three services of the army have been placed on a "round-the-clock stand-by." Such reckless military actions are leading the situation on the Korean peninsula to the brink of war.
The recent conflict at the west sea was triggered by the South Korean authorities whose intention was to unleash a war against the north, provoking us first and then taking issue with the ensuing military counteractions by us. For this purpose, scores of their warships had intruded into our side's territorial waters for ten odd days and staged a "bump-and-push operation," causing the conflict.
These provocations were an open challenge and a prelude to the implementation of the U.S.'s "operation plan 5027-98." We displayed to the full our patience and self-restraint from the outset so as to prevent an armed conflict.
However, battleships of the navy of the South Korean Army intentionally bumped against warships of the navy of the Korean People's Army and fired thousands of bullets and shells according to the prearranged scenario. In face of these military provocations, we could not but take a self-defensive measure against such military actions.
As a result of the counterattack of the KPA naval ships, more than ten enemy battleships were either burned or severely damaged, with heavy casualties. Such being the case, the South Korean authorities assert that it was the north side which provoked and started gunfire, in a bid to mislead public opinion at home and abroad.
The recent armed conflict did not develop into a total war entirely thanks to our high patience and self-restraint. We state once again clearly that anyone who encroaches upon our territory, even a blade of grass, will be mercilessly punished.
There is no limit nor mercy in our retaliation against the enemies.
Letter to Kim Jong Il from participants in European seminar
Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a letter from the participants in the European regional seminar on the Juche idea and socialism on June 18. The seminar was an international meeting which was of great significance in advancing the socialist movement on a new basis, the letter said, and went on: The Juche idea, founded by President Kim Il Sung, was comprehensively systematized and is being ceaselessly developed in depth in conformity with the demand of the developing revolution through your tirelessly energetic ideological and theoretical activities.
The world progressive people aspiring after socialism are now deeply respecting you as a defender of the socialist cause and leader of the socialist movement of our era. Our faith and will to advance under the banner of the Juche idea is unshakable because we experienced bitter twists and turns in the socialist movement and drew a historic lesson from it. We will resolutely struggle to defend socialism of Korea, the fortress of the socialist movement, and do our utmost to support the Korean people in their effort for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country, the letter said.
European seminar on Juche idea and socialism closes
Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- The European regional seminar on Juche idea and socialism closed in Moscow on June 18.
At the seminar that day, speakers said that although socialism was frustrated in some countries, it as a science lives in people's hearts, and expressed the belief that socialism would certainly revive though it suffered a temporary failure.
They unanimously stressed that the 21st century would be a proud century when socialism will win a final victory under the leadership of the respected Kim Jong Il.
A letter to Kim Jong Il and a declaration "let us continue to advance under the banner of socialism" were adopted at the seminar. The declaration noted that the collapse of socialism in east European countries is a sorrowful loss of the socialist movement, but it does not mean an "end of socialism."
It said the truth and invincible might of the Juche idea and the Juche theory on socialism have been fully demonstrated in the practices of the Korean revolution that has successfully built the tower of socialism under such difficult conditions, and proved evidently by the historic lesson drawn from the frustrated socialist movement.
It stressed that the DPRK is the fortress of socialism and the international socialist movement is vigorously pushed ahead by it.
GFTUK spokesman on S. Korean war moves
Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- A spokesman of the central committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) released a statement on Sunday denouncing the South Korean authorities' war provocations which are getting more undisguised these days. Recalling the recent reckless military provocations made by the South Korean rulers in the north side's territorial waters off the West Sea of Korea, the statement said: This is an unpardonable treason to the nation and a grave challenge to the cherished desire of the entire fellow countrymen for peaceful reunification.
While leading the situation on the Korean peninsula to an extreme pitch of tension, the South Korean rulers are further intensifying the fascist repression of pro-reunification patriotic forces, linking them with the north. The facts show how desperately they are running to aggravate the political and military confrontation with the north in a bid to divert elsewhere the attention of the people standing against the "government" and tide over their ruling crisis. The South Korean rulers must clearly know that if they persist in confrontation and war, going against the demand of the times and the nation for reconciliation, unity, detente and peace, they will be severely punished by history and the nation.

Rodong Sinmun on DPRK-Sudan relations
Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a signed article to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of ambassadorial-level diplomatic relations between the DPRK and Sudan (June 21, 1969).
The friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries have developed on good terms in the idea of independence, peace and friendship.
The intervention in internal affairs, division and estrangement maneuverings and military moves for aggression on the part of the imperialists and their followers could not dampen the Sudanese people's spirit of independence, the article notes, and continues: Today the Sudanese government and people are striving to maintain territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence under the difficult circumstances. Successes are being achieved in their efforts to stabilize the country's economy which is damaged due to disputes.
The Korean people will as ever further strengthen the friendly ties with the Sudanese people which were forged on the anti-imperialist common front.
The Korean people sincerely wish the Sudanese people greater success in their struggle for political stability and economic development.
U.S. chiefly responsible for nuclear proliferation
Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- An archive material on the "missing of 11 nuclear weapons since the beginning of the Cold War" was made public in the United States amid a big fuss over the "missing of documents on nuclear materials and other nuclear related secrets." Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary observes: This illustrates that the United States is chiefly responsible for nuclear proliferation and nuclear threat to mankind is attributable to the U.S. nuclear policy.
Pointing out that the United States has made a hue and cry over the "nuclear suspicion," "theft of nuclear secret" and "nuclear threat" by someone, the commentary says: It was the United States that manufactured the first nuclear weapon in the world and inflicted nuclear disaster upon mankind for the first time and it is again the U.S. that continues nuclear tests despite international protest and denunciation. Afterwards, the U.S. ruling quarters and brasshats attempted several times to use nuclear weapons, considering them to be almighty.
During the Korean War, the United States intended to change the war situation in its favour by using these weapons. It has stockpiled a bulk of nukes in South Korea, increasing the danger of nuclear war on the Korean peninsula. The United States has no justification to interfere in others' matters, talking about "nuclear problem" and "theft of nuclear secret." The United States is well advised to stop slandering other countries under absurd and brazen-faced pretexts and completely eliminate its nukes before others.

Communique of KPA navy command
Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- The command of the navy of the Korean People's Army issued communique no. 2 in connection with the fact that the South Korean authorities infiltrated more than ten warships into the north side's territorial waters off the west coast on four occasions today.
The communique dated June 21 said: At around 01:15 and 02:25 today, four warships of South Korea illegally intruded into the north side's territorial waters southeast of Ssanggyo-ri, Kangryong county, under the cover of darkness and two warships at around 06:00 and 14:15 each and four warships at around 10:05. A touch-and-go situation in which a new armed conflict may happen any time has been created in the waters owing to ceaseless provocations of the South Korean authorities.
The reckless provocations being committed by the South Korean authorities, not drawing a lesson from the June 15 engagement, are arousing bitter hatred of the Korean people's army servicemen. Once again, we warn the South Korean authorities to stop reckless provocations.
