Communique of KPA navy command

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- The navy command of the Korean People's Army issued its communique no. 4 today as regards the military provocations the South Korean authorities, bent on war moves at the instigation of the U.S., committed by infiltrating several warships again into the north side's territorial waters, yesterday and today.
The communique says: Today the South Korean authorities sent their two battleships to our territorial waters southeast of Ssanggyori, Kangryong county, from around 06:45 to 07:15. then, two war ships intruded into the waters at around 10:22 and 14:55 respectively in an attempt to threaten our navy's patrol ships and our peaceful fishing boats at work there. Earlier, on Thursday two battleships of the "ROK army" invaded our territorial waters ten times, but ran away, frightened at the imposing appearance of KPA navy patrol ships.
Synchronizing with this, scores of F-4 and F-16 fighter bombers of the "ROK" army repeatedly made circuitous flights above Tokjok Islet so that they could support their battleships any time. Frantic military provocations being committed by the South Korean authorities every day under the manipulation of the U.S. remind one of the eve of June 25, 49 years ago.
The more frantically the South Korean authorities drive the situation to the brink of war, the higher the fighting spirit of the People's Army soldiers to annihilate the aggressors is running. The navy of the Korean People's Army warns the South Korean authorities that if they continue infiltrating their battleships into our inviolable territorial waters in defiance of our repeated warnings, they will not escape from annihilating blows.

U.S. cruisers arrive in S. Korean waters for joint drill

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- Two U.S. missile-guided cruisers--Mobile Bay and Vincennes--arrived in South Korean waters, leaving Japan's Yokosuka base on June 17, a foreign news report said. The two cruisers are reported to enter the port of Pusan on Thursday and have a joint drill with the South Korean Navy next Monday. Such reinforcement and maneuvers by the U.S. and the South Korean authorities are intended to retrieve themselves from their defeat in the engagement in the West Sea of Korea and unleash a war at any cost.

Cause of Korean people supported abroad

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- The International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea released an appeal on June 16 on the occasion of month of international solidarity with the Korean people (June 25-july 27). The appeal said the separatists' continued moves to stifle the DPRK are a grave challenge to the world people desirous of sovereignty, independence and peace.
The ongoing military provocations against the north at the West Sea of Korea are an intentional attempt to drive the situation there to the brink of war, it noted, and stressed. The anti-imperialist peaceloving forces across the world should work hard to fully support the Korean people's struggle for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
All the peaceloving forces should demand a halt to the U.S. intervention in Korea's internal affairs, the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from South Korea and the conclusion of a durable peace accord. They should put pressure upon the South Korean authorities to renounce the policies of confrontation with the DPRK and dependence on the United States and improve the inter-Korean relations so as to accelerate the process of national reunification based on the great unity of the entire nation.
The appeal urged the implementation of the resolution of the 30th UN General Assembly calling for the dissolution of the "UN command" and the withdrawal of all foreign troops from South Korea.

Solidarity with Korean people expressed

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- A meeting for solidarity with the Korean people was sponsored by the organization of solidarity of the peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America at its building on June 9. At the meeting the secretary general of the organization said that true to the cause of the respected Kim Il Sung, the great Kim Jong Il leads the building of a powerful nation, smashing the isolation and suffocation moves of the imperialists including the United States. His leadership serves as a banner encouraging the struggle of the world revolutionary people, the speaker added.
A representative of the Palestinian National Liberation Front said that the United States, the "only superpower," dares not provoke socialist Korea because it is afraid of the strength of the Korean people single-heartedly united around Kim Jong Il. The first vice-chairman of the Cuban Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification said that they would more widely conduct the international solidarity movement whereby to press the U.S. to replace the Korean armistice agreement with a peace accord and withdraw its forces from South Korea and bring earlier Korea's reunification.

Minju Joson on planned S. Korea-Japan joint military drill

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- South Korea plans to stage a "joint military exercise" with Japan's Maritime "Self-Defense Force" in the high seas east of Jeju Island for one week from August 2. Commenting on this plan, a news analyst of Minju Joson today says: The planned military exercise dubbed "maritime rescue" is the first South Korea-Japan joint maneuver involving destroyers, convoys and other warships.
The South Korean rulers are crying that the joint maneuver is for "maritime rescue," but this is nothing but a window-dressing to deceive public opinion. The maneuver is a "test war" aimed at promptly hurling Japan's "Self-Defense Forces" into a new war when it breaks out in Korea and successfully carrying out a joint naval operation against the north.
Having legalized their military overseas aggression by making the legislation related to the "defense cooperation guidelines," the Japanese reactionaries scheme to attain their design for reinvasion of Korea with the South Korean rulers as guides. In the long run, the "joint naval exercise" is to serve these interests and aggressive designs of the South Korean rulers and the Japanese reactionaries.
If the U.S. and Japanese reactionaries and the South Korean war hawks unleash another war of aggression in Korea, we will mercilessly annihilate them.

S. Korean workers protest against "government's" repression

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- Some 100 union cadres and members affiliated with the Ulsan headquarters of the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions called a press conference in Ulsan on June 21 denouncing the "government's" suppression of labour movement and demanding a probe into the truth behind "inducing trade unions to strike" and the punishment of those responsible for it, according to a report from Seoul.
In a press conference, they vehemently called for a thorough investigation into the truth behind the "government's" plot for suppression of trade unions, punishment of the culprit, the dissolution of the "security measure council," a tool to suppress workers, and the release of the imprisoned workers. They stated that anti-"government" rallies would be held every day until such demands are met and that representatives of trade unions at Hyun Dai Motor Company, Hyun Dai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. and other trade unions under the confederation would go on a hunger strike all at once on June 28.
After the press conference, the chief of the Ulsan headquarters of the confederation and the chief of the Ulsan headquarters of the Federation of Metal Industrial Trade Unions entered into a hunger strike.

Papers call for averting danger of war and defending peace

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- It is 49 years since the U.S. instigated the South Korean ruling quarters to provoke a war of aggression against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. On this day papers here come out with editorials.
An editorial of Rodong Sinmun says: The U.S. imperialists made desperate efforts to destroy the DPRK in its cradle by mobilizing over two million strong armed forces including their aggressor forces, the "ROK" army and troops of its 15 satellite states. But under the outstanding and tested leadership of the great leader Kim Il Sung, the Korean people and the people's army inflicted an ignominious bitter defeat upon them and firmly defended the country's independence and national sovereignty.
The Korean people are now smashing all the moves of the imperialists and reactionaries to stifle the DPRK and firmly defending the dignity and honor of the socialist fatherland.
In order to convert armistice into durable peace and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country the Worker's Party of Korea and the DPRK government have put forward most reasonable and realistic proposals and policies and made every sincere effort for their realization since truce. But none of them has been realized due to the anti-peace, anti-reunification moves of the United States and the South Korean ruling quarters, the editorial says, and goes on: The United States is pursuing its "policy of strength", a leftover of the Cold War era, while talking about "end of the Cold War" and "detente".
Its "operation plan 5027-98" is a dangerous war scenario and war document for surprise preemptive strikes at the north. The Balkan War started by the U.S.-led NATO was a preliminary war, a test war to undertake the second Korean war.
The U.S. imperialists threatened "chastisement" after floating fictions about someone's "suspected underground nuclear facilities" and "threat of missile" behind the curtain of the "four-way talks". The situation urgently demands the establishment of a new peace-keeping mechanism between the DPRK and the United States to prevent another war and ensure durable peace and security on the Korean peninsula.
The present South Korean "regime" under the mask of "people" is increasingly depending on foreign forces and zealously pursuing confrontation with the north, paying no heed to the DPRK's sincere efforts and the desire of the fellow countrymen for national reconciliation and unity and peaceful reunification of the country. It is leading the situation in Korea to the brink of war.
The triangular military alliance of the United States, Japan and South Korea has been put into motion to start a war against the north and the Japanese reactionaries keen on reinvasion have become more undisguised in their anti-DPRK hostile acts. If the United States and its followers finally ignite a war, defying our repeated warnings, the Korean people will wipe out the aggressors to the last man by mobilizing all potentials built up for scores of years and achieve the historical cause of national reunification.
Minju Joson in an editorial says that only victory and glory are always in store for the Korean people who are dynamically advancing to build socialism and achieve national reunification under the leadership of the great leader Kim Jong Il.

U.S. trade pressure on S. Korea

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- The National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) central committee issued a letter of protest on June 19 denouncing the ever more intensified U.S. trade pressure on South Korea, a Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation said. Recalling that having reintroduced "super 301", an outrageous trade act for retaliation, the United States is now carrying out a high-handed trade offensive in all fields, including trade, the letter said: U.S. trade pressure on South Korea, its colony, started long ago.
"Pressure upon South Korea to open more markets in more fields" -- this is the truth of the trade pressure the United States has incessantly put upon South Korea. Historically, South Korea-U.S. relations have been the master-servant relations based on the jungle law whereby South Korea is unilaterally sacrificed to gratify the unlimited ambition and national interests of the United States. The South Korean economy that has already stumbled under the U.S.-imposed IMF trusteeship is on the verge of total collapse under the outrageous U.S. trade pressure.
Noting that this deplorable situation is attributable to the U.S. colonial policy and the humiliating pro-American flunkeyist treacherous policy of the South Korean rulers, the letter declared: In order to seek a way of the nation's resurrection and shape its destiny all the people in South Korea should turn out as one in the anti-U.S. struggle for national independence and sovereignty.

Korean war provoked by U.S.

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- It is 49 years since the U.S. ignited a war of aggression against the Korean people. Looking back on the disastrous war provoked by the U.S. , the Korean people cannot repress surging indignation against them. It was part of the U.S.'s old ambition for world supremacy to destroy the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in its cradle and turn Korea into their advanced base to execute their Asian strategy. Ever since their occupation of South Korea in September, 1945 the U.S. have been bent on preparations to invade the north.
A proof of this was their plan to "invade the north." It was planned to simultaneously launch the invasion of the north on all fronts along the 38th parallel in around July or August, 1949. The U.S. ordered the South Korean Army to make every effort to carry out this plan for aggression. Under the plan several ports including naval bases in Inchon, Pusan, Ryosu and Jinhae turned into "temporary mobile bases" for the U.S. pacific fleet and the construction of many air bases was pushed ahead.
Meanwhile, aggressor armed forces were massively reinforced in the areas along the 38th parallel where the north and the south were in confrontation and armed assault was frequently committed against the north. The number of cases of armed provocations reached more than 2,600 in the year of 1949.
The U.S.'s war moves reached the climax entering the 1950s. Notorious war-monger Dulles flew into South Korea as a special envoy of U.S. president Truman on June 17 to examine the South Korean Army's war preparations and finally okayed the operation plan to invade the north at the end of his inspection of the area along the 38th parallel. On the basis of these long preparations for invasion, the U.S. and the Syngman Rhee clique started an all-out armed invasion against the DPRK at dawn of June 25, 1950.

Mt. Kumgang tour must not be used for anti-north purpose

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- The Mt. Kumgang tour has been suspended owing to misdeeds of the South Korean authorities who seek a sinister political purpose. In this regard, the spokesman for the Korean Asia-Pacific Peace Committee (KAPPC) released a statement today.
The statement said: As already known, the South Korean authorities on June 20 included such ill-intentioned elements as Min Yong Mi in the Mt. Kumgang tour, which had been arranged by the KAPPC and Hyun Dai Business Group out of warm compatriotic feelings, in an attempt to tempt northerners to defect to the south. Worse still, they openly conducted a smear campaign against the north.
This is an unpardonable intentional anti-north misbehaviour made by the South Korean authorities for the purpose of laying obstacles in the way of non-governmental activities sponsored by the KAPPC and the Hyun Dai Business Group and thus frustrating the Mt. Kumgang tour. According to results of an investigation by our competent organ, Min Yong Mi admitted that she preached "defection" during her Mt. Chumming tour and begged for lenient forgiveness for her criminal act.
Her crime should have been judged according to the DPRK law, but the KAPPC decided to send her back to South Korea in consideration of desires of the South Koreans to visit Mt. Kumgang as early as possible and of its relations with the Hyun Dai Business Group. This represents our magnanimous compatriotic measure. It is also thanks to sincere efforts of the Hyun Dai side that min can return home.
We will warmly welcome South Korean tourists of Mt. Kumgang with compatriotic feelings but will not pardon anyone involved in the anti-north plot of the South Korean authorities as evidenced by the recent case. The South Korean authorities should immediately give up a sinister political attempt to use the Mt. Kumgang tour for an anti-north purpose.
This time, too, the South Korean authorities had been engaged in smear campaign against the north like a thief crying "stop thief " they went the length of alleging that it is a calculated provocation based on leading the examinee to answer questions. We warn once again that they should clearly know they will get nothing from the moves.
We will never tolerate any attempt of the South Korean authorities to attain their ulterior political purpose by poking their noses into the non-governmental tour of Mt. Kumgang which is pushed ahead by the KAPPC and the Hyun Dai Business Group out of warm compatriotic feelings.
