S. Korean people plan events to remember Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- Members of the Thaeyang(sun) Society Active in Socho district met on June 10 to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the death of the President Kim Il Sung, the Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation quoted the Seoul city committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea as saying.
At the meeting they set days from June 20 to July 20 for remembering President Kim Il Sung and decided to conduct various activities during the period.
According to the decision, they are to have a seminar on the Juche idea, an appreciation this clash occurred indisputable belong to our territorial waters both in the light of the armistice agreement and the practice so far followed since the truce. This notwithstanding, the South Korean war hawks unilaterally set the so-called "northern limit line" which nobody recognizes. And they have carried on their armed provocations by illegally infiltrating scores of warships of various types into the territorial waters of our side since June 4.
Unable to remain a mere onlooker to these reckless military provocations, navymen of the Korean People's Army meted out a deserved punishment to the intruders.
The South Korean bellicose elements are persisting in their military provocations against us in waters off the west coast, while floating cock-and-bull stories intended to hide the truth behind the incident and shift the blame for it onto us. This is an intolerable challenge to us as it was prompted by the criminal aim to ignite a war of aggression against the north come what may, backed by the U.S. war hawks.
Korean Judoist wins gold medal
Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- DPRK Judoist Kwak Ok Chol reportedly won the match in the men's 81 kg division of the 1999 Asian Judo Championships held in China on June 25.
Military provocations of S. Korean authorities denounced
Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- The Unionist Socialist Party of Syria on June 20 released a statement denouncing the military provocations of South Korean authorities in the West Sea of Korea.
The statement said the party and the Syrian Arab people strongly condemn the South Korean authorities for committing military provocations against the DPRK under the protection of the U.S.
It expressed full support for all efforts General Secretary Kim Jong Il has made for peace of the Korean peninsula and peaceful reunification of the country.
If peace is to be ensured in the peninsula, the U.S. should renounce their policy of hostility toward the Korean people.
S. Korean students and democratic@patriots demanded
Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) issued a statement on June 18 denouncing the South Korean rulers for their recently intensified repression of progressive students and democratic patriotic forces on false charges, according to the Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation.
The statement said: The rulers of the "government for the people" have arrested 22 members of the Hanyang Organization for the anti-U.S. national salvation after labeling them as "forces for overthrowing the system" on charges that they disseminated the Juche idea at universities and in the army and orchestrated several demonstrations.
It is an intolerable challenge to the progressive students and democratic patriotic forces desirous of independence, democracy and reunification.
The South Korean rulers should stop the clumsy fascist repressive move at once and set free the imprisoned students and patriots without delay.
Humiliating solicitation
Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- A top-ranking official of Japan recently asked a senior official of a country to inform the DPRK of Japan's apprehensions, including "a missile launch issue." Rodong Sinmun today describes the humiliating solicitation as deep-seated bad habit of the Japanese authorities who have tried to get something with the backing of a big country.
The news analyst says: More than once Japan asked others to meddle in the outstanding issues between the DPRK and Japan only to be rejected by the DPRK. It has not yet broken with the bad habit, though. We consider this humiliating diplomacy as a foolish act reminiscent of a drowning man catching at a straw.
It is more absurd of the Japanese authorities to think we may lend an ear to somebody's words.
The DPRK deems independence its life and soul. We flatly reject what others say, if it violates our sovereignty and if it offends us.
Our dignity and sovereignty remain unchanged, not affected by what a big country or a small country says.
No one can undermine such a stand of ours.
What must be called into question in northeast Asia is not "missile launch" by the DPRK, but Japan's attempts at overseas aggression.
Kim Ku remembered
Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- A meeting for remembering Kim Ku was held here on Saturday on the occasion of the half centenary of his death.
Present at the meeting were members of the National Reconciliation Council of the DPRK, those related to Kim Ku's activities, members of compatriots delegations and visiting groups from abroad and other compatriots.
Honorary Chairman Sin Chang Gyun of the south headquarters of the National Alliance for the country's reunification, who is also chairman of the "preparatory committee to remember Paekbom Kim Ku on half centenary of his death," personages from all sectors and reunification movement organizations of South Korea were invited to the meeting, but they could not come to it owing to the obstructive maneuvers of the South Korean authorities.
Addressing the meeting first, Kim Yong Dae, chairman of the central committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party and chairman of the National Reconciliation Council, said: Kim Ku was not a communist, but a conscientious nationalist and patriot, who loved the country and the nation, desired the national sovereignty and independence from his early years, repudiated submission and dependence upon outsiders and opposed national division, Kim Yong Dae said.
He went on: A particular mention should be made of the fact that Kim Ku, deeply moved by the great President Kim Il Sung's patriotic initiative and warm love while attending the north-south joint conference held here in April Juche 37 (1948), keenly realized where the center for national unity was and where the cradle for the nation to live in was and worked for collaboration with communism, thus turning over a new leaf.
The respected Marshal Kim Jong Il saw to it that his name was inscribed on the united front tower and the "National Reunification Prize" was awarded to him to convey his patriotic dedication down through the nation's history.
Kim Yong Dae called upon all the fellow countrymen in the north, south and abroad to rise up in the struggle to achieve national independence and great unity irrespective of differences in idea and system, political view and religious belief in hearty response to the five-point policy of great national unity.
He was followed by those related to Kim Ku's activities and a delegate of overseas compatriots.
The poem "Dirge for Paekbom" created by South Koreans 50 years ago was recited at the meeting.
The meeting was followed by a performance given by the state symphony orchestra on the theme of great national unity and reunification.
War hawks' outbursts under fire
Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- There is a limit to our patience and self-restraint. Unlimited is our merciless retaliation against the provocateurs and aggressors. The South Korean war-thirsty elements are well advised to stop going berserk, clearly mindful who their rival is. This strong warning comes in a signed commentary of Rodong Sinmun today lashing out at the warlords of South Korea for their anti-north war agitation made at the recent "meeting of major commanders of the army." They were reported to have repeated their absurd assertion about "northern limit line," crying for the "strengthened combat posture" and "sternly dealing with" someone's "provocations."
Dismissing what the war hawks uttered, failing to draw a proper lesson from the west sea incident as disgusting, the commentary goes on: This incident was entirely attributable to the South Korean bellicose elements' intrusion into our inviolable territorial waters and their military provocations against us. The waters where this clash occurred indisputable belong to our territorial waters both in the light of the armistice agreement and the practice so far followed since the truce.
