Committees for remembering Kim Il Sung formed

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Committees for remembering the President Kim Il Sung were inaugurated in Cambodia and Germany. Norodom Ranariddh, chairman of the National United Front of an Independent, Neutral, Peaceful and Cooperative Cambodia (Funcinpec) and president of the National Assembly, was elected chairman of the committee in Cambodia, and the chairman of the central committee of the Communist Party of Germany was elected chairman of the committee in Germany. The committees decided to propagandize the greatness of President Kim Il Sung and to hold various functions in this period.

Epic in praise of Kim Il Sung

   Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun yesterday carried an epic "May song of the great eternal life last forever" written by Kim Man Yong on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the President Kim Il Sung's passing away. Kim Il Sung Prize winner Kim Man Yong dedicated long epics to the first and third anniversaries of President Kim Il Sung's passing away.
    In the epic, he said: President Kim Il Sung is immortal along with the history of the country which is prospering under the guidance of the great leader Kim Jong Il. It is Kim Jong Il identical with Kim Il Sung, who filled an aching void in the hearts of the people left by the passing away of the President. He is the dear father who offered the same love and affection to the people in the past 5 years as the President did.
    The last 5 years is a period during which the Korean people have grasped the great truth taught by the President that Marshal Kim Jong Il is the destinies of the people, the country and the revolution. The President and the Marshal were always together on the road of serving the people and the Marshal further intensified the struggle to accomplish the cause of revolution pioneered by the President in the last 5 years after his passing away.
    It is our Marshal who paved the way for the building of a powerful nation, breaking through manifold difficulties and trials with his revolutionary leadership art of giving priority to military affairs. The President is immortal thanks to the Marshal who is carrying on the revolution and the construction in accordance with the idea and will of the President, upholding him as the eternal President of the republic, and the people have become one big family of the President under the leadership of the Marshal who is identical with the President.

Cold weather in east coastal area of Korea

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Unusual drought and heat are continuing in the west coastal area and the northern inland of Korea. On the contrary, in the east coastal area of Korea it is cloudy and temperature is sharply dropping from June 28. The temperature was 22.9 degrees centigrade in Wonsan, 22.4 in Hamhung and 19.6 in Chongjin on July 1. It stood at 20.6 degrees centigrade in Wonsan and 23.3 in Hamhung on July 2 or 0.9-3.4 degrees lower than the average temperature. The temperature in Chongjin on July 3 was 0.6 degrees lower than that of July 1. The growth of crops is seriously affected by cloudy weather and drizzle caused by a long spell of low temperature. Drought and heat are expected to last until July 6 in the west coastal area and northern inland while cold weather is anticipated to continue in the east coastal area.

Korean Buddhist masses held for reunification

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Buddhist masses for national reunification were held at temples across the DPRK Sunday 27 years after the July 4 joint statement was announced. Speeches were made at the end of rites for national reunification at the masses. Speakers renewed their firm determination to give momentum to the reunification movement, closely uniting with the entire fellow countrymen in the north, south and abroad under the banner of great national unity. They condemned the u.s. Imperialists and their followers, separatist war hawks for having worked out an anti-north war scenario "operation plan 5027-98" and committed reckless military provocations in the west sea of Korea and around the Korean peninsula, and called upon Buddhists at home and abroad to conduct vigorous activities to check such moves.

Library on Kim Il Sung's feats off press

   Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Volume 12 "Realization of Single-Hearted Unity of Whole Society" and volume 13 "Building of Independent Socialist National Economy", serials of a library "Undying Revolutionary Feats of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung", were published by the Worker's Party of Korea Publishing House on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the passing away of President Kim Il Sung.
    The volume 12 has three parts and 10 chapters. The part 1 deals with the ideological and theoretical achievements scored by the President by advancing the idea and theory on the single-hearted unity for the first time in history on the basis of the Juche idea and systematizing them in an integral way as well as the greatness of the achievements.
    The part 2 gives an all-round exposition of the greatness and sagacity of the leadership of the President, who considered it as a fundamental issue of the revolution to creditably train the driving forces of the revolution and enhance their role in the whole course of the Korean revolution from the very day he set on the road of revolution in his early years under the banner of "down-with-imperialism" and victoriously led the struggle to materialize it.
    The part 3 deals with the single-hearted unity of the leader, the party and the masses achieved by the President and with the tremendous significance it carries in the development of the Korean revolution and in the accomplishment of the human cause of independence.
    The volume 13 has three parts and seven chapters. The parts 1 and 2 give an explanation of the clear-sighted leadership of the President, who advanced the theory on building an independent socialist national economy and energetically led the struggle for its materialization. The part 3 deals with the greatness of the revolutionary feats the President performed by attaining the historic cause of building the independent socialist national economy and with its enduring significance.

Structure of military confrontation should be removed

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The overseas headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification published a statement on June 18 in connection with the South Korean authorities' provocations in the West Sea of Korea that have escalated tensions. The statement deplored that the South Korean authorities took provocative actions in the west sea and demanded the reinforcement of the U.S. armed forces, rendering the situation strained. Monumental creations representative of loyalty and filial piety

    People of the world are deeply moved by the fact that Kim Jong Il wrought this historic miracle by wisely leading the people to build many monumental edifices under the extremely unfavorable conditions where the country was put under the tense situation in which a war may break out any time, the imperialists persisted in their vicious moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK and the various fields of the national economy faced difficulties and trials due to years of natural disasters.

Kim Il Sung's immortal poem carved

    Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The President Kim Il Sung's immortal poem "an Autumnal Day in Mt. Myohyang" was carved on a natural rock at Mt. Myohyang with the approach of the 5th anniversary of his passing away.
    The title of the poem carved in over 500 square metres is 1.5 metres high, 1.3 metres wide and 0.15 metre deep. Each letter of the poem is 0.9 metre high, 0.7 metre wide and 0.09 metre deep. The President visited Mt. Myohyang, a famous mountain in the northwestern part of Korea, on October 15, Juche 68 (1979), 20 years ago.
    At the international friendship exhibition situated there, the President, in deep thought, saw precious gifts sent by many foreign party, state and government leaders, prominent political and public figures and individual persons representing their reverence for him, and said that these gifts are a pride and honor of the nation. The President, who was commanding a bird's-eye view of the scenery of Mt. Myohyang in the balcony of the exhibition, recited his immortal poem "an autumnal day in Mt. Myohyang" in a low voice.
    The poem vividly represented the past, present and future of the Korean nation and concentrically manifested the Korean nation-first spirit reflected in the beautiful scenery of the country and his ardent love of the country. Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Worker's Party of Korea, was present at the unveiling ceremony held on July 4.

Korean people's struggle supported

    Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Solidarity rallies were held in various countries including Cuba, Peru, Nepal, Romania, Tajikistan, Poland, the Czech Republic and France in the month of international solidarity with the Korean people (June 25-July 27.)
    The speakers said at the rallies that the U.S. imperialists unleashed a war of aggression against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the 1950s but the Korean people under the wise leadership of the President Kim Il Sung defeated the U.S. imperialists and achieved a brilliant victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. They went on: Nearly 50 years have passed since the end of the war but the Korean people's desire for reunification has not yet been realized. The outside interference in Korea and the occupation of South Korea by the U.S. troops should be terminated for the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea.
    The Korean People's Army has grown to be an invincible army with powerful defensive and modern offensive means thanks to the great Marshal Kim Jong Il's revolutionary leadership art of giving priority to military affairs. The U.S. imperialists and the South Korean authorities will be defeated by the invincible might of the Korean people and revolutionary armed forces. They extended firm solidarity to the Korean people's struggle to reunify the country independently and peacefully. They said they will make all their efforts to prevent the danger of war and ensure peace in the Korean peninsula.
    Messages of solidarity to General Secretary Kim Jong Il were adopted at the rallies in Nepal, Poland and the Czech Republic and a letter in Peru.

Tire production on steady increase

    Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The Amnokgang Tire Plant situated in the northwestern part of Korea is bringing about a great upsurge in production. The plant has over fulfilled its monthly production target for five months this year.
    The plant is carrying out its daily assignments at 120-140 percent this month. When General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the plant in the middle of June, he was very satisfied with production process in full-capacity operation. Last year the plant faced the biggest difficulties in 30 odd years after its commissioning because of shortage of imported materials, electric power and raw materials caused by the persistent economic blockade of the imperialists and continued natural disasters.
    Kim Jong Il visited the plant last October and acquainted himself with its performance. He taught its officials to take an optimistic view of the reality and boldly press ahead with the work on the principle of self-reliance by making the best use of its great production potential. He indicated concrete ways of enterprise management such as attaching importance to science and effecting technological innovation to tap long-term potential and maintaining the socialist principle and applying economic method well to ensure actual profits.
    The workers, encouraged by this, made all efforts to keep all equipment in full-capacity operation by tapping potential with high revolutionary enthusiasm. They have introduced into production the electric-guided heating system, robotized production process and various technical innovation proposals so as to keep production of tire going on a high level. The workers of the plant are registering signal successes in their drive to increase tire production.

U.S. movies rejected in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The Citizen's Federation for Democratic Society and 34 other civic organizations of South Korea on July 1 rejected U.S. movies and held demonstrations in front of Seoul Theatre and 3 other theatres before burning U.S.-made goods in effigy, according to a Seoul-based radio report. These organizations in a statement accused the U.S. of forcing those regions in the grip of foreign exchange crisis to import its cultural industrial products under the cloak of "investment."

Many triplets born

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- About a hundred groups of triplets were born in Korea in the recent five years. 17 groups of triplets were born from July, Juche 83 (1994), to the end of the year. The past five years witnessed the birth of more triplets than those in the corresponding period of the preceding years. The President Kim Il Sung showed deep care and warm love for them in his lifetime, saying births of many triplets were the sign of the country's prosperity. General Secretary Kim Jong Il, who inherited his noble love, has sent them gifts of love to be handed down through generations in the five years though the country has suffered from difficulties and ordeals.

Greetings to Venezuelan President

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, President of the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, today sent a message of greetings to Hugo Chavez Frias, President of Venezuela, on the occasion of its Independence Day. The message expressed the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would develop on good terms and wished the president and people of Venezuela new success in their work for the prosperity of the country.

Letter to Kim Jong Il from diplomatic corps

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a letter from the diplomatic corps to Korea on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the passing away of the President Kim Il Sung. The letter was conveyed to Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun today by Palestinian ambassador Shahier Mohammed Abdlah, who is doyen of the corps.
