U.S.-Japan arms race under fire
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- The United States and Japan are to sign and exchange a document in July, which confirms that they will formally begin a joint technological research into the "Theatre Missile Defence" system (TMD).
Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun today says the development and deployment of the "TMD" is contrary to the "anti-ballistic missile limitation treaty" signed between the Soviet Union and the United States in 1972.
The news analyst goes on: The "TMD" is an overseas version of the "missile defence system" replacing the U.S. "Star Wars program" in the Cold War era. The United States is describing the "TMD" as a "shield" and "protection umbrella" in a bid to provide justification for its development and deployment but this clumsy logic and trick do not go down with anyone.
The "TMD" development and deployment precisely means development and deployment of highly sophisticated guided weapons of a new type. This U.S. move is intended to increase combat power and sustain military supremacy.
The action taken by the U.S. and Japan to develop the "TMD" is beset with a very potential danger as it presupposes its deployment and use. The aggressive nature and danger of this move are more clearly evidenced by the fact that the "TMD" is expected to be deployed mainly in South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
It is as clear as noonday that the DPRK will be the primary target of the "TMD".
We will not remain a passive onlooker to the U.S.-Japan move to develop and deploy the "TMD". The neighboring countries are free to take their own option.
KCNA on germ warfare by United States
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- A few days ago, the United States reportedly supplied an "alarm system" to the U.S. forces' unit present in South Korea allegedly to cope with "germ warfare" by the DPRK. Synchronizing with this, it is floating the rumour that the DPRK has hidden "bacteria of smallpox" and is "capable of developing weapons for anthrax." The rumour about the "development of biological and chemical weapons" in the DPRK is a sheer lie which eloquently shows how frantically it is trying to hurt the DPRK.
The U.S. vociferated about "suspected nuclear development" in the DPRK. However, its utterances proved to be groundless during its visit to the underground facility in Kumchang-ri. It is now setting afloat the rumour about "development of biological and chemical weapons" in an attempt to do harm to the DPRK. The fiction of "development of biological and chemical weapons" is a continuation and variant of the U.S. insistence on "suspected nuclear development."
Accordingly, it is nothing but a preposterous piffle which cannot be overlooked. In the past, too, the U.S. made a hue and cry about "development of biological and chemical weapons" in the DPRK. Then, why is the U.S. now loud mouthed about this old fiction? This is because it seeks an ulterior purpose.
The U.S.-led NATO used weapons of mass destruction in air raids on Yugoslavia -- radioactive, depleted uranium and poisonous germ bullets and shells.
Since the Yugoslav war was a preliminary war and test war aimed at invading the DPRK, the U.S. use of biological and chemical weapons in the war hints that the U.S. will use a large number of such weapons of mass destruction in a war against the DPRK to be unleashed according to "operation plan 5027-98."
So, the U.S., in a bid to justify its preparations for nuclear and chemical warfare on the Korean peninsula, is spreading the rumour that the DPRK has concealed "smallpox bacteria" and is "capable of developing weapons for anthrax."
In the long run, the U.S. is the very one that possesses biological and chemical weapons and committed a germ warfare. Therefore, its utterances about "germ warfare" by the DPRK is just like a thief crying "stop the thief " the United States would be well advised to give up its criminal design to contain the DPRK with a nuclear club and through a bacteriological warfare.

Cohen's reckless war order

This instruction was contained in a letter sent to the chairman of the U.S. joint chiefs of staff and other high-ranking military officers. By a "new operation" Cohen, meant an operation to provoke a second war of aggression on Korea and his instruction was aimed at agitating for a new war of aggression.
Idea of "aim high" will be immortal
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates an editorial to the 105th birth anniversary of Kim Hyong Jik, an indomitable revolutionary fighter.

The President Kim Il Sung, who inherited the idea of "aim high" as the most precious revolutionary heritage, founded the immortal Juche idea and victoriously paved the true way for the country and revolution to take under its banner, the editorial says, and goes on: This noble idea is being steadfastly carried forward by the respected Kim Jong Il.
It is his unshakable resolution and will to advance the Korean revolution along the road of Juche and to accomplish the revolutionary cause to the end no matter what a long and rigorous way the revolution of Juche has yet to go.
His firm confidence has become the Korean people's will.
The worker's party and people of Korea are now struggling in the inflexible spirit of the anti-imperialist struggle and the indomitable revolutionary spirit inculcated upon them by Kim Hyong Jik.
The persevering will of the Korean people struggling against the formidable enemy of imperialism is what was taught by him and their invincible spirit of cheerfully pulling through all trials and difficulties is what was handed down to them by him.

Tortoise boat
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- On display in the Korean Central History Museum is the world's first ironclad ship built in the shape of a tortoise 405 years ago.
Attempts were made to build this ship since the early period of the 15th century. It was completed in February 1592, just before the outbreak of the Imjin Patriotic War, by admiral Ri Sun Sin and ship-builders.
The tortoise boat was the most powerful battleship at that time. The surface of the boat was covered with prickly iron plates and it was designed as to fire large-caliber shells from the six-firing-holes on both sides. It sailed at high speed and safely and was advantageous both in attack and defence.
In the battle on the sea off Okpho in May, 1592, the boat destroyed 26 enemy ships. It also destroyed 30 ships and killed hundreds of enemy troops in another battle on the sea off Tanghyangpho in June of the same year. The battle fought on the sea off Hansan Island ended in a great victory for the Korean navy, with 59 enemy ships wrecked. This victory was recorded in the world history of sea battles in the middle ages.
The building of such a powerful ship was the result of a remarkable shipbuilding capacity and the creative talents of the Korean people at that time.
