Foolish row over "missile threat from North"

Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries are reportedly becoming quite fussy about "missile threat from North Korea."
The Japan Defense Agency in its "1999 white paper" on July 27 said that "extreme concern is evoked by North Korea's possession of the capacity to produce missiles capable of reaching any place of Japan and it is necessary for Japan, the U.S. and South Korea to counter it by concerted efforts."
At an international meeting in a southeast Asian country on the same day the Japanese reactionaries in league with the U.S. and the South Korean authorities issued a "joint statement" urging the DPRK to "give up test-fire of a missile".
It is not difficult to guess why the Japanese reactionaries are insisting that the DPRK's peaceful space development is posing a "threat" to them.
It is aimed, above all, at covering up their moves to become a military power and their ambition for re-invasion and justifying their provocation of a second war of aggression on Korea.
They have already made all legal, institutional and material preparations for re-invasion.
What remains to be done is just to find a pretext for a war of aggression.
That pretext is "missile threat from North Korea."
It is well known to the world that the Japanese authorities are kicking up the anti-DPRK hostile row, defining the DPRK as a "dangerous force" threatening their "security" and describing our satellite launch as a "missile launch".
The Japanese reactionaries should stop this foolish act at once, mindful of what catastrophic consequences their frantic racket about "missile threat from North Korea" will bring.

Japan urged to make state compensation

Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- We strongly urge the Japanese authorities to liquidate their crimes clearly within this century which had been committed in the same century, lending an ear to the fair demand of the Korean people, peoples of Asia and the rest of the world who uphold justice and love peace, the UN and the international community.
The Korean Democratic Lawyers Association said this in an appeal on Friday to the UN Secretary General, the International Democratic Lawyers Association, the World Peace Council, the UN Commission on Human Rights and other international organizations.
The appeal came when the Japanese authorities were zealously pursuing a hostile policy toward the DPRK, fleeing from state responsibility and refusing to make a legal compensation for the past crimes committed against the Korean people.
    The appeal continued:
The Japanese imperialists should have faced deserved international punishment right after the end of World War Ii for the hideous crimes they committed after occupying Korea in view of the international law and from the humanitarian and moral point of view.
As the past crimes of Japan were state-sponsored, organized crimes, the state should be held responsible for them as required by the international law. But the Japanese authorities are foolishly scheming to settle the crimes with a small amount of money, turning away their face from state responsibility and legal compensation.
The international community confirmed the past crimes of Japan as the crime of human rights violation and violation of the international law and is urging it to hold state responsibility and make a legal compensation. If Japan fails to get rid of the present stance and position, it will not enjoy even elementary trust from the international community.
The appeal strongly called upon judicial and human rights organizations and the progressive people of the world to conduct a widespread solidarity movement to put pressure upon the Japanese government to admit state responsibility and make a legal compensation for the past crimes as demanded by the former "comfort women for the army" and the victims of forcible draft and the international community.

Korean people's cause of reunification supported

Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- Eduardo Frei, President of Chile, and father John Bani, President of Vanuatu, fully supported the Korean people's cause of reunification when they received credentials from the Korean ambassadors to their countries.
The President of Chile said that he was happy to note relations between the two countries are developing on good terms and hoped that Korea's reunification would be realized peacefully through dialogue and negotiations.
The President of Vanuatu expressed his belief that the DPRK government's efforts for national reunification will succeed. The Korean people's cause of justice will win victory, he said.

Japanese reactionaries hit for nuclear arming

Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- The Korean Anti-Nuke Peace Committee issued a statement on Friday denouncing the Japanese reactionaries for reportedly shipping a great deal of plutonium to Japan from France through the Korean straits.
Referring to the struggle of the Council of Pusan Civil Movement Organizations and the Fishermen Federation in South Korea and the Green Peace to check Japan's transport of plutonium, the statement emphasized:
As strongly condemned and protested at home and abroad, the Japanese reactionaries' shipment of plutonium is a dangerous criminal act of threatening not only the Korean nation but also the destiny of humankind.
It is clear what terrible consequences the nuclear arming of the Japanese reactionaries to realize their dream of "Greater East Asia Coprosperity Sphere" as the "leader of Asia" will bring to world peace and security.
What should not be overlooked is the United States' and the South Korean rulers' double-dealing attitude of shutting their eyes to Japan's open transport of nuclear materials and nuclear arming while persistently raising a hue and cry over the fallacious "missile issue" of the DPRK.
The Korean people will never remain a passive onlooker to the United States and the South Korean rulers' conducting anti-DPRK smear campaign over the "missile issue" while instigating the Japanese reactionaries to step up their moves for nuclear arming primarily targeted at the DPRK.

Reception given at Chinese embassy

Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) --Yan Jiangfeng, military attach of the embassy of the People's Republic of China here, gave a reception at the embassy on Friday on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the foundation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
Present on invitation were Colonel General Ryo Chun Sok, general officers and officers of the Korean People's Army, officials concerned and military attaches of foreign embassies here.
Present were Chinese ambassador Wan Yongxiang and embassy officials.
    Speeches were exchanged there.

Warmongers will meet nothing but catastrophic consequences

Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- If the United States and its followers ignite a second war in Korea at any cost, they will meet nothing but catastrophic consequences more miserable than the defeat they suffered in the 1950s, warns Minju Joson in a signed commentary today.
Some time ago, the United States and its followers held a "ceremony" to "mark the 50th anniversary of the Korean War" in London. Meanwhile, the construction of the Korean War memorial "state museum" is progressing apace in Chicago, the United States.
In these burlesques they seek an ulterior intention to beautify the history of aggression and incite a fever of aggression on the DPRK to unleash a second Korean war at any cost, the commentary observes.
    It goes on:
We are compelled to heighten vigilance against these farces as they are synchronized with the moves of the U.S. bellicose forces and their stooges to ignite a war against the DPRK that have reached a very reckless stage.
The burlesques prove that the enemy may start a war against the DPRK any time.
The Korean people and people's army will closely follow the moves of the enemy, and will not miss the opportunity to deal a merciless punishment to the enemy if he unleashes a war.
The United States and its followers should squarely face the reality and give up the dirty burlesques.

Baloney of U.S. bellicose elements

Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- Special assistant to the U.S. President for National Security Berger on July 26 openly agitated for the U.S. Forces' overseas aggression, according to a news report.
He made no scruple of saying that the U.S. is ready to use its armed forces for "protection of civilians" from genocide in Africa and other areas.
This is a brigandish threat to use its armed forces as its humor dictates in any place and at any time under the signboard of "protection of civilians".
The utterance made by Berger at a time when the United States is recklessly scheming to ignite a second Korean war at the end of the war in Yugoslavia cannot but invite precaution of people.

Strong step to be taken against S. Korean ruler's obstruction

Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- If the South Korean ruling quarters turn to obstruct South Koreans' tour of Mt. Kumgang, we will not remain a passive onlooker to this but take a strong step against it. They will have to bear full responsibility for the grave consequences to be entailed by this.
This warning was served by a spokesman for the Korean Asia-Pacific Peace Committee in a statement today denouncing the South Korean authorities for trying to flee from the responsibility for the suspension of the tourism.
    The spokesman said:
The South Korean authorities are going berserk in a bid to create the impression that Mt. Kumgang tourism was a "benefit" given to the north by them.
They are imprudently letting loose a string of jargons about "possibility" or "impossibility" of tourism, painting Mt. Kumgang tourism as a "present" given to us.
What cannot be overlooked is that having suspended the tourism, they asserted the Hyun Dai Business Group should bring documents that "provide for personal safety" and "return on the same day" if a tour boat is to sail, and they insisted that they will "not allow the boats for tour of Mt. Kumgang to leave," dispirited by our reasonable and principled stand to meet the wish of the South Koreans to come to see Mt. Kumgang.
They went the length of scattering anti-north leaflets in the air above the area of Kuryong fall of Mt. Kumgang on July.
This is a premeditated and intentional move to totally block the Mt. Kumgang tour by South Koreans.
We will not remain a passive onlooker to the anti-national acts of the South Korean authorities to put a check-bar on the tourism.
We have no idea of arguing any longer with the South Korean authorities who have hindered the tourism, a non-governmental project between the north and south, asserting that they cannot allow tourists boats to leave for the north.
