Release of Hanchongryon delegate and others demanded
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korean Student Committee issued a statement to the press on Saturday denouncing the South Korean rulers for arresting Hwang Hye Ro, delegate of the South Korean Federation of university Student Councils (Hanchongryon) that represents the south headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification, and other delegates of the south side, who had visited Pyongyang, to punish them on charges of violating the "National Security Law."
The spokesman said:
The delegates of the south side are pro-reunification missions with a warm patriotic desire to open a turning phase of great national unity and national reunification this year with the year 2000 at hand.
The participation of Hanchongryon delegate Hwang Hye Ro and other pro-reunification patriots from the south in the grand festival for reunification at Panmunjom is a very just patriotic deed based on a noble aspiration and will to achieve reunification through national reconciliation and great unity.
The South Korean rulers should set them free without delay and abolish the "National Security Law," an evil law against reunification, at once.
Repeal of "NSL" called for

The participants said the "NSL," which has been used for maintaining the dictatorial regime, is very contradictory to the authorities' argument about "peaceful unification" as it defines the north as an "anti-state organisation". They demanded that the fascist law be rescinded overall.

Japan's argument about "nuclear threat"
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries are busy raising a hue and cry over someone's "nuclear threat" and "missile threat" more than ever before.
Their outcries stemmed from the ulterior intention to justify their moves for arming Japan with nuclear weapons and turning it into a military power and divert elsewhere the world attention.
Minju Joson says this in a signed commentary today.
The daily goes on:
Some time ago, officials related to green peace opened to the public a secret document "Japan's plutonium plan" worked out and submitted by the U.S. embassy in Tokyo to the United States a few years ago.
According to the announcement of the officials, Japan is possessed of about 30 tons of plutonium, which is enough to make more than 4,000 nuclear weapons. Not content with this, Japan is shipping in 450 kg that are equal to 60 nuclear weapons from Europe. Japan which has a capacity of possessing of nuclear weapons technologically and is bringing in a large quantity of plutonium is vociferating about "nuclear threat" from the DPRK. This is a shameless act of reminding people of a thief crying "stop thief." The Japanese reactionaries are spreading a rumour about "nuclear and missile threat" and thereby trying to brand the DPRK as a source of "nuclear and missile proliferation", to avoid the international precaution and concern directed to them and to convert Japan into a military power and arm it with nuclear weapons for overseas expansion.
That is why they are clamoring about the non-existent "nuclear and missile threat" from the DPRK.
Their unabated anti-DPRK diatribe will bring nothing but harm to Japan.
They must be aware of this.
Confession of former U.S. commander in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- The U.S. reportedly carried out a test of high-efficiency bomb of the latest type in Yugoslavia under the simulated conditions of "emergency" on the Korean peninsula, said the Japanese Nihon Keizai Shimbun Sept. 8 in an article titled "It is difficult to explode underground military facilities in North Korea."
The paper noted that the U.S. has already analysed its efficiency when it let stealth strategic bomber "B-2" for the first time fly for battles in Yugoslavia during the Kosovo crisis and drop laser-guided bomb "bunker buster" which is capable of striking deep into the ground under the simulated conditions of "emergency" on the Korean peninsula.
According to the paper, Riscassi who was the commander of the U.S. forces present in South Korea early in the 1990s when there was a crisis on the Korean peninsula owing to nuclear issue, confessed in a recent interview with the paper that "it is difficult for the U.S. forces to explode underground military facilities in North Korea even if it uses high-efficiency bomb of the latest type."
