Floral basket to Kim Jong Il from Guinean President
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a floral basket from President of Guinea Lansana Conte on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the founding of the DPRK.
The adviser said to the ambassador:
Reaffirming his will to continue consolidating and developing the long-standing, friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, the president wished the Korean people greater new success in their struggle for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
He also wished Kim Jong Il a long life in good health for eternal consolidation and development of Korea and the development of the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries.
Kim Jong Il, model of people's leaders
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il is a model of genuine people's leaders, stressed general secretary of the central committee of the New Communist Party of Great Britain Andy Brooks who visited the DPRK some days ago.
Noting that Kim Jong Il calls the people his teacher and shapes policies as they wish and administers the affairs of the state for them, Andy Brooks said that Kim Jong Il spares nothing for them, sharing life and death, sweets and bitters with them and his lofty love for the people is conveyed as a history of human love and they, therefore, readily dedicate their all to him in order to repay his loving care.
Andy brooks expressed his firm belief that the Korean people would certainly build a powerful nation of Juche by winning victory in the second grand chollima march under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
"Honor of Kim Jong Il's Korea" released in Syria
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- A ceremony was held at the DPRK embassy in Syria on September 7 to release the book "Honor of Kim Jong Il's Korea" written by Dr. Riyad Suleyman Ivvad, a politburo member of the Socialist Unionist Party of Syria, on the occasion of the 51st birthday of the DPRK.
Present at the ceremony were the general secretary of the Syrian cabinet, Dr. Riyad Suleyman Ivvad and figures of different social standings and the DPRK ambassador.
S. Korean authorities escalate war preparations
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities decided to raise the "Homeland Defence Reserve Forces"(HDRF), reserves of the "ROK army", to the level of a regular army from 2000, a Seoul-based radio said.
Under this decision, "HDRF" units across South Korea will be supplied with new types of mortars, recoilless rifles, machine guns and other modern weapons from next year.
South Korea has over three million-strong "HDRF" which consists of ex-servicemen except nearly one million-strong "ROK army", regular armed forces.
The facts show that the South Korean "people's government" is getting closer to the ignition of a war against the north.
S. Korean chief executive's flunkeyist and treacherous moves
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The chief executive of South Korea said in a recent article dedicated to a news weekly of Germany that the north's "missile development poses a threat to peace in the Asia-Pacific region" and that South Korea, with the United States and Japan, is "making joint efforts" to check it beforehand while asking China and Russia for "cooperation."
Such absurd remarks and shriek only revealed the foul flunkeyist and treacherous nature of a colonial stooge who can prolong his remaining days only under the U.S. "nuclear and missile umbrella".
If the South Korean chief executive had had normal thinking power he would have felt ashamed of inviting outside aggression troops to occupy South Korea and asking for their permanent presence. Yet, he has argued that the fellow countrymen are "threatening peace" when they exercise the national independence and sovereignty against the aggressors.
This argument is little different from the platitudes used by his masters the U.S. and Japan to cover up their aggressive design. The former is seeking to permanently occupy South Korea and dominate Asia and the rest of the world with it as a springboard and the latter is getting frantic in the moves for reinvasion of Korea and Asia.
That is why the chief executive, at a "cabinet meeting" on Sept. 7, defended the "Northern Limit Line" unilaterally set by the U.S. master in violation of the Korean Armistice Agreement and international law by saying that he can not recognize the territorial waters proclaimed by the north ignoring the "line."
Although he is insisting on the "Northern Limit Line" at the U.S. instigation, we can never recognize it and will take a decisive self-defensive measure against any breach of the Military Demarcation Line at the West Sea of Korea proclaimed by us.
Our people and self-defensive revolutionary armed forces will surely make the South Korean authorities, colonial stooges of the United States and Japan, pay for their foul flunkeyist and treacherous deeds. And they will not tolerate any reckless anti-north confrontation and war moves of the South Korean authorities but decisively smash them.
Austrian delegation welcomed
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held here on Monday to welcome a delegation of the society for the promotion of the relations between Austria and the DPRK.
Hong Son Ok, vice-chairperson of the Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries who is also chairperson of the DPRK-Austria Friendship Association, said in her speech that the society had done a lot of things in support of the Korean people's struggle for national reunification and socialism and made big contributions to developing state-to-state relations between the two countries over the past 26 years after its formation.
She expressed the belief that the close Austrian friends would fully support the Korean people's efforts for socialist construction and independent and peaceful reunification of the country in the future, too.
We will as ever work hard to tighten relations between the two organizations and further deepen the bonds of friendship between the two peoples of Korea and Austria, she said.
Chairman of the society Max Verworner, who is heading the delegation, said the immortal Juche idea fathered by President Kim Il Sung is evoking a great sympathy from among the Austrian people as well as the Koreans. It is the great idea that brings about creation and prosperity, he stressed.
Estimating the great achievements of the Korean people, he said the credit for them went to the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung and the great Kim Jong Il, who are masters of creation and construction.
Our society will extend full support to the Korean people in their endeavors to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and build a powerful nation, he declared.
Amnokgang Sports Group produces world's queen of marathon
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The Amnokgang Sports Group is one of the famous sports groups in the DPRK. Jong Song Ok, world's queen of marathon produced by Korea, belongs to this group.
The group, which was founded over 50 years ago, has greatly contributed to the nation's development of sports.
Many sportspersons of the group won gold medals in international games to honor the fatherland.
The group produced over 100 people's and merited sportspersons. Among those are Ku Yong Jo who knocked out the U.S. opponent to come first in a boxing match of the 21st Olympiad and demonstrate the mettle of Juche Korea, Kim Il who won gold medals in wrestling events of the 25th and 26th Olympiads, Ri Hak Son, Ri Song Hui, Sin Kum Dan and Ri Pun Hui.
The credit for the group's achievements goes to General Secretary Kim Jong Il who has shown deep love for it.
Kim Jong Il visited the group in September Juche 51 (1962) and said that the group should improve techniques of players so that they could win all events. And he indicated solutions even to problems related to their future development and the training of future players.
The group received Kim Il Sung order two times.
Leader of the group Pak Won Son said that many sportspersons are intensifying training to become "second Jong Song Ok," with the honor of being players of the group which produced the world's queen of marathon.
Scurvy trick of those in tight corner
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries a commentary accusing the South Korean "Intelligence Service" of rigging up the "National Democratic Revolutionary Party case" and announcing that it detected a "spying."
The announcement contended that the Juche idea followers formed the "National Democratic Revolutionary Party," an underground party, with their organization "anti-imperialist youth league" as a principal axis under the "instructions of the north" and "provided" information to the north and "offered convenience" to someone, the news analyst says, and goes on:
This is a farce and a premeditated anti-north campaign dreamed up by the South Korean rulers upset by the movement to achieve reunification through an alliance with communism and the north now gaining momentum in South Korea in a bid to stamp out pro-reunification patriotic forces.
It is a trite method of the South Korean authorities to kick up a frantic anti-north row by fabricating a shocking "case" whenever their colonial fascist rule is beset with a crisis. The "national democratic revolutionary party case" is an extension of this case.
In the grip of the worst ruling crisis, the South Korean authorities fabricated such a shocking case to mislead the public into believing that there exist someone's "attempt to achieve reunification through communization of the south and "threat from the north." Through this third-rate-farce they seek to incite the consciousness of confrontation with the north among the South Korean people, dampen their desire for reunification and get rid of the "ruling crisis."
It has become clearer that "improvement of inter-Korean relations" and "engagement policy" on the lips of the rulers of the "people's government" are no more than the other side of the policy of confrontation with the north.
Truth is bound to be clarified and a lie can never turn out to be true.
DFRF c.c. supports struggle to disclose pro-Japanese elements
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The central committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland (DFRF) made public a statement on Monday supporting the recent brisk movement of the academic circles and civic organizations of South Korea to disclose and punish the crimes committed by the pro-Japanese elements during the Japanese imperialists' rule.
The statement said:
The academic circles of South Korea have strongly asserted these days that the crimes committed by the pro-Japanese elements should be thoroughly investigated to punish them through academic meetings and education in the history of enlightenment and that the mental education should be strengthened so that traitors to the nation may not appear again.
This is a decisive resistance to the pro-Japanese traitors swaggering about still in South Korea and to the present South Korean ruling quarters who are more openly resorting to the moves submitting to Japan and, worse still, pushing forward vicious pro-Japanese elements such as traitor Park Chung Hee.
Highly praising the mounting struggle of people from all walks of life in South Korea to disclose and punish pro-Japanese elements as a just and patriotic deed to set right the history of submission to Japan distorted by pro-Japanese flunkeyist quislings and traitors to the nation and defend national dignity and sovereignty from the Japanese reactionaries' moves for reinvasion of South Korea, the DFRF central committee sends full support and encouragement to it.
The reality clearly shows that as long as there are the flunkeyist quislings and traitors to the nation such as the South Korean rulers, the pro-Japanese elements during the Japanese imperialists' rule cannot be punished and South Korea will be reduced to a dual colony of the U.S. and Japan in which traitors to the nation run wild.
Learning from Jong Song Ok's fighting spirit
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- All the party members, officers and men of the people's army and people of Korea should learn from the fighting spirit of Jong Song Ok, a splendid daughter of the nation and the world's "queen of marathon", and fully demonstrate the spirit of the heroic people who have grown up under the care of the great leaders by energetically advancing at a canter with the same high ideological awareness and indomitable fighting spirit as hers, says Rodong Sinmun today in an editorial.
It goes on:
To learn from her revolutionary spirit is an important need to perform a duty as a true revolutionary soldier and disciple of the great Kim Jong Il.
All people can bring joy and satisfaction to Kim Jong Il and carry out their duty as his soldier only when they display intense loyalty and filial piety, ardent patriotic zeal and indomitable fighting spirit as jong did.
In order to become a creator of miracles and innovator in the second grand Chollima march which is being accelerated powerfully, they should live and struggle as Jong did.
In particular, they should actively learn from her absolute worship to Kim Jong Il.
They should learn from her transparent view on the leader so that their hearts may burn with intense loyalty and filial piety to Kim Jong Il no matter what they do any time and any place.
They should learn from her patriotic devotion, strong will and indomitable fighting spirit.
They should energetically struggle to put all fields on the world's level with the same ardent patriotism as displayed by her and overcome all difficulties and hardships just as she ran ahead of all others in the race with an unimaginable staunch will.
The editorial appeals to all people to live and struggle in this idea.
Performers of world-startling feats and thousands of jong should be produced by all fields in the course of the vigorous drive to build a powerful country, stresses the editorial.
Egyptian refers to Korea's struggle to build powerful nation
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- Hassan Abdel Salam, secretary-general of the Egypt-Korea Friendship Association, had an interview with the KCNA correspondent in Cairo on Sept. 5 on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
He said that the DPRK is now working hard to obtain a high target of building a prosperous and powerful nation, relying upon the eternal foundation laid by the President Kim Il Sung.
It is thanks to the wise leadership of the great Kim Jong Il that the Korean people are continuously achieving great successes in socialist construction despite the present difficult conditions, he said, adding:
The Korean people have the firm faith that they are sure to win under his leadership.
Dorank Assifat Diasseny, director general of the African Regional Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, expressed the firm belief that the Korean people would certainly fulfil their enormous tasks for building a prosperous and powerful nation under the energetic activity and wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
S. Korean authorities' flunkeyism
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities have come under fire by all the fellow countrymen in the north, south and abroad for their flunkeyist and traitorous act of befouling the inviolable territory of the nation by bringing remains of yankees into the Korean land.
Recently they moved the remains of Underwood who guided the U.S. invasion of Korea, to Seoul from the U.S.
As a result, all the remains of his clan of three generations including his wife, son and grandson now lie buried in South Korea.
Underwood came to Korea in 1885 as the first U.S. missionary with a cross in his hand and disseminated the idea of worship and fear towards the U.S. among the people, frantically conducted espionage operations and training of pro-U.S. elements. He changed his name to Korean name "Won To U" and employed all tricky and insidious methods in instigating the bureaucrats of the feudal Korean government to transfer its main posts and economic concessions to the U.S.
He played an active role as a guide for the implementation of the U.S. aggression on Korea for 30 years and died of typhoid fever after he returned to the U.S.
A chip off the old block, his son, too, resorted to all operations to reduce Korea to a colony of the U.S.
He assumed another Korean name "Won Han Gyong" and organized a group of spies by bribing scum. He took the lead in carrying out the brutal suppression and slaughter of patriotic-minded people in South Korea under the cloak of "adviser to the governor of the U.S. Military Administration" before his death in Pusan during the Korean War.
The grandson of Underwood also committed all sins during the Korean War as the "most influential adviser" in plotting the "Inchon landing operation" of the U.S. aggression forces. He cooked up sinister anti-DPRK strategies and tricks, working as an "advisory officer" and "chief interpreter" at the Korean cease-fire negotiations.
Even after the end of the war descendants of Underwood played their dirty parts in maintaining the colonial rule of the U.S. in South Korea, working as "university professor," "priest" and "director of foundation."
Underwood and his clan played the role of guide and storm trooper for the implementation of the U.S. policy of aggression on Korea for 114 years through four generations.
They are now busy spreading in South Korea the idea of worship and flunkeyism towards the U.S. under various pretexts and are whetting their swords to invade the DPRK.
The Korean people are now trembling with towering wrath and grudge against Underwood and his clan.
S. Korea opens door to Japan's movies and songs
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities made public the content of the Japanese popular culture to which they opened the door for the second time on September 10, according to a radio report from Seoul.
According to it, decadent Japanese movies and video-taped materials may be shown irrespective of age and Japanese songs are allowed in almost all the entertainment places.
As a consequence, South Korea has been further reduced to a colony of Japanese culture.
The rulers of the "people's government" who are steeped in the idea of worshipping Japan to the marrow of their bones are now flinging the door open to the Japanese culture, pursuing their policy of following Japan.
Korean Paduk Association
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The Korean Paduk (Go) Association was formed a decade ago.
Its main thrust has been put into training skilled players and reserves while arousing public interest in it.
It has ensured easy public access to the sport by forming go circles at sports schools, schoolchildren's palaces and halls in every part of the country and published and disseminated many manuals.
To satisfy the needs of the growing number of reserve players and amateurs, it has organized various forms of go matches on a regular basis, divided into professional and amateur groups.
Since the 1st National Go Contest held in May 1990, often referred to as "Paduk festival", a series of 70 games have been organized with the participation of 3,200 go fans.
In the course of this, many schoolchildren have grown into high-grade players.
The Korean players stole the show in international games.
A seven-year-old Choe Un A was placed eighth at the 4th World Amateur Women's Go Championships in October 1992, and Mun Yong Sam came third at the 19th World Amateur Go Championships in May 1997. Jo Sae Byol finished runner-up and Ri Pong Il came third at the 7th World Amateur Women's Go Championships in October 1998 and the 21st World Amateur Go Championships in June 1999 respectively.
Senior coach Wu Yulin of the Chinese team, on his visit to Pyongyang in May this year, said:
"The Chinese players are experienced enough to match professional ninth graders. I was surprised to see that the Koreans were almost on a par with the Chinese in the game. I myself lost the games with Korean children, Pak Ung Il and Choe Un A. I am certain they are quite promising. The Korean players are highly skilled. It is not flattery."
A member of the World Go Federation, the Korean Paduk (Go) Association promotes cooperation and exchange with different countries.
DPRK defies whatever move to isolate and stifle it
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The Korean people will certainly build a powerful socialist nation their own way despite all sorts of pressure from the U.S. and its followers, states Rodong Sinmun today.
The world saw in Jong Song Ok running like a phoenix despite a high temperature of 35 degree centigrade the true appearance of the DPRK which is dashing towards the building of a powerful nation despite the stubborn and vicious moves of the U.S. and its followers to isolate and stifle our socialism, the paper says, adding:
Jong Song Ok demonstrated to the world the indomitable spirit and matchless courage of Kim Il Sung's Korea and the stamina and character of the Koreans.
Recalling that ever since the very day of its foundation the DPRK has pulled through all difficulties and ordeals, defying the vicious political, economic and military pressure brought upon it by the U.S. and its followers, the paper points out that the Korean people have not succumbed to the difficulties and ordeals but grown up to be the strongest one in the world and a phoenix.
The paper goes on:
The Korean people have grasped a precious truth while weathering out the anti-socialist tempest of the imperialist allied forces for more than half a century, the truth that people can withstand whatever trial when they have a great leader, a party and motherland and that if they have a strong faith they can resist whatever pressure of the imperialists.
Immensely precious is the treasure secured despite difficulties.
Our people value our treasure-socialism more than anything else as they have gained it by overcoming difficulties with a strong will. We will never abandon socialism of our style.
