Solidarity meeting of Korean and Japanese women
Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- A solidarity meeting of Korean and Japanese women was held here yesterday.
Present at the meeting were the delegation of the Japanese Women's Liaison Council for Solidarity with the Korean Women and working women in Pyongyang.
In her speech, Ri Chong Il, chairwoman of the Korean Women's Society for Solidarity with the Asian Women, said that Korean people know well about the just activities conducted by the Japanese Women's Liaison Council for the Peace and Reunification of Korea and the genuine improvement of the relations between the DPRK and Japan.
She noted that the council's expression of full support to the DPRK government's statement issued in last August was a manifestation of the principled stand of the Japanese women to be guided by justice and conscience and make Japan fulfil its responsibility and role as part of the international community. She urged the Japanese authorities to roll back immediately their policy to stifle the DPRK which may lead to its self-destruction and make an honest apology and adequate compensation for the crimes Japan committed against the Korean people in the past.
Speaking next, head of the delegation and a representative of the liaison council Sumiko Shimizu, deputy leader of the Social Democratic Party of Japan and a member of the House of Councilors, declared that Japan has to liquidate the past crimes if good neighborly relations are to be opened between the DPRK and Japan. She expressed her support to the DPRK government statement issued in August.
She said that the issue of "comfort women for the army" is a crime against the dignity of women and the responsibility for its solution rests with the Japanese government.
The Japanese government is obliged to mend its wrongdoings in a responsible manner, she said, noting that if the Japanese government values its prestige and moral principle, it should resume the talks for the normalization of the relations with the DPRK and make every effort to make them fruitful and, at the same time, improve the legal status of the Korean residents in Japan and guarantee democratic national rights to them at an early date.
She called upon the women of the two countries to firmly solidarize with each other to hasten the establishment of the good neighborly relations between the two countries and undertake a joint struggle for the Korean reunification and the peace in northeast Asia.
The meeting was also addressed by women of the two countries.
A resolution was adopted at the meeting to undertake a more dynamic solidarity movement demanding the Japanese authorities roll back their hostile policy towards the DPRK and make an apology and compensation for the liquidation of the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists in the period of their colonial rule over Korea.

KCNA on bellicose utterances of colonial stooge
Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- Jo Song Thae, "Minister of Defense" of South Korea, said at a "seminar" on Sept. 17 that now it is necessary to increase defence power to serve the double purpose of independently coping with the threat from the north and change of security situation.
Shamelessly distorting the provocative incident at the west sea in which South Korea suffered a bitter defeat, he argued that strong defense posture taken in advance can frustrate any provocation of the enemy in emergency.
Such utterances of Jo Song Thae revealed once again his true colors as a colonial stooge of the U.S. and clearly proved that the policy towards the north of the self-proclaimed "people's government" is an anti-north confrontation policy and the policy for a war against the north from A to Z.
It is ridiculous of the "ROK army," a colonial mercenary of the U.S., to "independently cope with something."
It is nothing but a stooge's servile pledge to supply all the cannon fodder needed for the U.S. war of aggression to dominate Asia as well as Korea in its strategical interests by increasing military spending to be covered with taxes collected from the South Korean people.
As long as such flunkeyist quislings as Jo Song Thae are hell-bent on the anti-north confrontation and war maneuvers serving the master's interests, it is quite impossible to bring detente to the Korean peninsula and improve inter-Korean relations.
Countless are grave crimes committed by jo song thae against the nation since he became "Minister of Defense."
Anti-north confrontation fanatics and warmongers like him must be liquidated at an early date to hasten reconciliation and great unity of the nation and independent and peaceful reunification of the country.

On December 24, 1917, she was born into a patriotic and revolutionary family in Hoeryong town, Hoeryong county, North Hamgyong Province. As her parents and her brothers were killed by Japanese imperialists when she was little, she took part in the sacred war to liberate the country in her teens.

Moving stories about Kim Jong Suk who earned fame as a crack shot in every fierce battle were related as a legend among people and guerrillas.
She was an able and experienced political underground worker.

She thus aroused the people to the anti-Japanese war and contributed to laying the organizational and ideological foundation for the founding of the party.
She was a model of staunch lifeguards who defended the headquarters of the revolution politically and ideologically with her life in the whole period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.
After the liberation of the country she rendered great services to build a new country and realize the women's emancipation and develop their movement upholding the noble intention of President Kim Il Sung.
Factories and farms in North Hamgyong Province, South Phyongan Province and Pyongyang city, the building site of Kim Il Sung University, the sites of the Pothong River improvement work, film studio and Samhung Middle School, the Pyongyang Institute and the Security Officers Training Center and many other parts of the country were associated with her immortal exploits performed for the building of a rich and powerful sovereign and independent state.

And many places and units were named after her.

Kim Jong Suk assisted President in his leadership
Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- Today is the 50th death anniversary of Kim Jong Suk (Sept. 22, 1949).
Her revolutionary life is one of the great revolutionary and the ardent patriot and loyalist, who started the revolution and adorned the road of revolution with patriotism under the red flag held aloft by the President Kim Il Sung.
She was a brilliant model of the true loyalist and patriot in assisting the President in steering the work to build a prosperous country.
She returned in triumph after liberating the country in August, 1945 and visited factories and enterprises, refusing to call at her hometown which was within hail. And she acquainted herself in detail with the reconstruction of factories and encouraged workers in their reconstruction work. One day, she visited a fishing village to go out to sea aboard a boat together with fishermen, and considered measures to stabilize the people's livelihood.
She went to a village on the outskirts of Pyongyang to get familiar with the peasants' living conditions in January, Juche 35 (1946) where she paid a deep attention to the problem of pencil for pupils.
As a result, a historic measure was taken to place the problem of pencil as the first agenda item to be taken up by the first meeting of the provisional people's committee of North Korea in February, 1946.
She conducted energetic activities, giving on-the-site guidance to hundreds of units across the country to successfully carry out the President's line on the building of the party, government and army till her last moment since the liberation of the country.
