With the universal free education in force all the pupils and students are studying to their heart's content according to their hopes and aptitudes at kindergartens, primary schools, senior middle schools, colleges and universities.
The universal compulsory primary education was enforced in August 1956, the universal compulsory secondary education in November 1958 and the universal compulsory nine-year technical education in April 1967.
The universal 11-year compulsory education system has been in force since 1972.
The rising generation go through 11-year secondary education with one-year compulsory preschool education and 10-year compulsory school education free of charge.
Students of universities and colleges receive stipends from the state and all school boys and girls are provided with textbooks, school things and uniforms.

The system consists of evening and correspondence courses, factory colleges, farmers' colleges and fishermen's colleges.
The system helps students understand the principles of sciences and technology with ease by combining education with productive labour.

Japan urged to drop its bad habit

Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- The Japanese authorities have come in for strong criticism by a signed commentary of Rodong Sinmun today for caviling at the United States' recent formal announcement of lifting of a series of sanctions against the DPRK.
Recalling that the Japanese authorities are asserting they will not blindly follow the U.S. step and the DPRK did not freeze the "launch of missile," the commentary dismisses this as behaviour of those who are accustomed to speak ill of others.
    It goes on:
The United States is obliged to lift all sanctions against the DPRK under the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework.
Lifting sanctions against the DPRK is a crucial issue in improving the DPRK-U.S. relations.
Japan is not entitled to meddle in the discussion of the issue related to the DPRK-U.S. relations. Then why does Japan behave so imprudently, poking its nose into the issue that has nothing to do with it?
In a word, it is prompted by its dark design to prevent the solution of the Korean issue at all costs.
Japan's piffle that the DPRK's launch of missile has not been frozen is intended to use that as a pretext to realize its ambition to become a military power at any price.
It is the old bad habit of the Japanese politicians to speak ill of others and do harm to them and poke their nose into other's affairs to behave silly.
That is why Japan is experiencing a hot agony of shame and standing isolated by the world public.
The Japanese authorities are well advised to drop their bad habit of meddling in other's affairs and slandering him before suffering bitterer shame.
