True colors of U.S. beasts

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- The truth behind the mass killing of over 400 Korean civilians by the U.S. aggression troops at Rogun-ri, Yongdong county, North Chungchong Province of South Korea in the past Korean War was brought to light.
The AP procured and made public official documents including the order of the command of the 25th division of the U.S. Army related to the massacre and reported the testimonies of ex-GIs who were on the spot at that time and South Korean survivors.
Rodong sinmun today in a commentary points out: Despite of the fact, the U.S. Brass-hats try to evade a probe into the truth behind the massacre, apology and compensation for it. They assert that they "investigated the incident as possible as they could," but they could not prove it, and that "such information document had not been found in the history archives" of the U.S. Defense Department.
Meanwhile, the South Korean authorities are appeasing the angry people at home and abroad arguing that "legal examination of the incident, including the prescription issue," is necessary and they hope this incident will not exert a bad influence on the relations with the U.S., the commentary says, and goes on:
The U.S. aggressors in the Korean War brutally killed a lot of people not only in Yongdong but also in Suwon, Chungju, Thongyong, Kochang and all other different parts of South Korea.
The truth of the history cannot be distorted and covered.
With all appeasement and deception the U.S. can never cover up the truth behind mass killings of the people committed in South Korea for over 50 years, including the massacre in Yongdong.
The U.S. should clearly see the situation and make an official apology for their murderous crimes against the South Korean people and withdraw their aggression forces and nuclear weapons from South Korea without delay.

Abrogation of "NSL" demanded

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- The South Korean Catholic Priests' Solidarity for the Abrogation of "National Security Law" recently called a press conference in Seoul and made public a "declaration of 2,000 catholic priests," a South Korean newspaper said.
The declaration said that "NSL" exercised sweeping powers in the history of national division and is still used as a means to control people's idea and conscience by the present "people's government."
It held that this "law" should be repealed immediately because it is typical of the evil laws seriously encroaching upon freedom of man's expression and conscience.

Pomchonghakryon meets to mark day of nation

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- A meeting of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon) was held at the mausoleum of king Tangun, founder of Korea, on sunday to commemorate October 3, "day of nation," and smash the provocative moves for a new war.
Present at the meeting were members of the Pomchonghakryon north headquarters, chairmen of student committees of universities and north and overseas Korean youth delegates.
Choe Kuk Gon, chairman of the Korean Student Committee who is vice-chairman of the Pomchonghakryon north headquarters, made an address there.
He noted that Pomchonghakryon declared October 3 "day of nation." It was a solemn declaration of the will of Korean youth and students in the north and the south and overseas to reunify the country by the great unity of the nation without fail, always deeply conscious of being descendants of king Tangun's nation, though they live separated from each other, he stressed.
In the past one year the youth and students in the north and the south and abroad have vigorously struggled to disclose and check war moves of the U.S. and the separatist forces and get the U.S. forces withdrawn from South Korea and its "National Security Law" repealed. In particular, they carried out the first joint excursion to historical sites in the north, he pointed out, calling upon them to take the lead of the struggle for opening a turning phase of national reunification.
Ryang Jong Ryung, representative of the Pomchonghakryon overseas headquarters, in his speech called for conducting the second joint excursion to historical sites in the north and achieving the great unity of the nation.
He said the joint excursion is righteous work intended to confirm the spirit of the nation and retake independence and it is a historic task of achieving the great national unity.
Through the first joint excursion the youth and students in the north, south and overseas realized that the traditions of the resourceful Korean nation remain in their life and when they are united into one a reunified powerful nation will surely be built further throwing its rays all over the world, he said.
He stressed they would carry out the second joint excursion without fail.
Ri Myong Won, vice-chairman of the north headquarters of Pomchonghakryon and director of its secretariat, stressed in his speech the need to smash the war moves of the United States, Japan and the South Korean authorities and accelerate national reunification.
Denouncing the United States, Japan and the South Korean authorities for getting overheated with anti-DPRK war moves, he said: For the country to be reunified, it is urgent to crush the war moves of outsiders and the flunkeyist and traitorous forces and launch a vigorous struggle for removal of such obstacles to reunification as South Korea's "security law."
A message of solidarity from the fourth-term joint secretariat of Pomchonghakryon was read out at the meeting.
A joint resolution was also adopted.
The resolution declared that the youth and students in the north, south and abroad would devote their all to the struggle for great national unity and the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
Pomchonghakryon will valiantly struggle for the repeal of the "operation plan 5027-98", discontinuation of U.S.-Japan-South Korea joint military exercises, withdrawal of the U.S. forces from South Korea and conclusion of a peace accord between the DPRK and the U.S. and thus greatly contribute to laying foundations for peace in the Korean peninsula.

It is not benefit

Pyongyang. October 4 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun here today carries a commentary on the U.S. official announcement that it would lift a series of decades-long economic sanctions upon the DPRK.
    The news analyst says:
It is neither U.S. "gift" nor "benefit" to Korea.
Moreover, the United States has no reason to request "compensation" from the DPRK. It is nothing but a promise that the United States will implement part of its duty.
Describing the step as a "concession", "benefit" and somebody's "economic profit" or claiming a "complete stop to missile development" can be done only by those who do not know the essence of the point at issue or by political swindlers who have insidious political purpose.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea will reply to the trust with trust, but has no intention to subserviently read the mind of the United States, its dignity and sovereignty being infringed upon.
The United States should totally and substantially lift economic sanctions if it wants the promotion of relations with the DPRK and expects trust from the DPRK.
And it should remove the source of military threat from the DPRK.
It should give up the hostile policy against the DPRK and affirmatively respond to signing a peace agreement with the DPRK.
It should withdraw its troops from South Korea.
By so doing, the United States should show in practice that it has no other mind toward the DPRK.
If the United States totally and practically lift economic sanctions and remove military threat to the DPRK, we will reply with trust.

Japanese reactionaries' anti-DPRK rackets assailed

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- Gangsters belonging to an extreme right-wing reactionary group "Kokkusui Youth Brigade" of Japan thronged to the Korean hall adjacent to the central standing committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) on Sept. 28 and shouted over loud speakers that "North Korea, make apology for its missile launch" and "Japan-resident Koreans, go out of Japan." Other right-wing gangsters thronged to the Tsuruga port, Fukui Prefecture, and held a rally, chanting anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon slogans in front of "Mangyongbong-92" at the port and Korean compatriots on board to visit their homeland.
Such anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon hostile action by the Japanese right-wing gangsters was not accidental but done at the bidding of the Japanese reactionaries obsessed by chauvinism against the Korean nation and ambition to reinvade Korea, Rodong Sinmun today in a commentary says, and goes on:
The case is also related to the crooked tentacles of the South Korean "Intelligence Service" hooligans hell-bent on a plot to harm and stifle the DPRK and Chongryon.
When the DPRK is demonstrating to the world its mightiness as a powerful socialist state, independent, self-supporting and self-reliant in national defence, Japan is becoming an object of the world's contempt as a "political dwarf." This is why the Japanese reactionaries are resorting to the anti-DPRK and anti-Chongryon moves without discretion.
We vehemently denounce the Japanese reactionaries for intensifying the anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon moves in political, economic and military conspiracy with the South Korean authorities.
We warn once again the Japanese reactionaries that they will be held wholly responsible for all the grave consequences to be entailed by their vicious anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon moves.
We will categorically check and frustrate all the confrontation moves of the Japanese reactionaries against the DPRK and Chongryon and make them pay a thousand-fold price for their crimes.
The Japanese authorities should immediately stop criminal moves of instigating the right-wing gangsters to kick up anti-DPRK and anti-Chongryon rackets and take a measure to seriously punish those criminals involved in such rackets to keep such crimes from recurrence.

Famous Kanggye Wine Factory

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- Drinks produced at the Kanggye Wine Factory are becoming popular with each passing day.
General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the factory on Sept. 12. He highly praised it for providing people with a large quantity of wine of good quality and warmly encouraged the labour innovators.
The factory, which started its operation in April 1956, is situated in the city of Kanggye, the seat of Jagang Province, in northwestern part of Korea.
It produces various kinds of intoxicating drinks in large quantities every year, among them Kanggye wine, Kanggye wild grape wine and Paekro, Mokryon and Kanggye liquors.
Those products are well received by inhabitants in the province and public service facilities in different parts of the country.
Kanggye wild grape wine, Mokryon and Kanggye liquor in particular are popular on world markets including Japan.
Mokryon liquor is drawing special attention as it is effective in relieving disturbance of digestive system, promoting activity of capillary and beautifying the skin color. It is made of Kanggye grapes, main raw material, and 16 kinds of efficacious pharmaceuticals such as Koryo Insam, schizandra chinensis and thymus guinguecostatus.
All production processes of the factory have been streamlined and 75 percent of its workers are engineers and experts.
Noting that the quality of products is being improved thanks to clear and fresh water gushing from a deep valley and raised level of technique and skill of workers, directress Jong Chang Ae said that the factory would increase the production to more satisfactorily meet the demand of domestic and foreign consumers.

Foundation day of Korea marked

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- A ceremony for commemorating the foundation day of Korea for independence and great unity of the nation was sponsored Sunday by the council for reunification of the Tangun nation at the mausoleum of king Tangun, the ancestral father of Korea, in Kangdong county, Pyongyang.
The foundation day of Korea (October 3) is the birthday of Tangun, the ancestral father of the Korean nation.
The ceremony was attended by chairman of the c.c., the Korean Social Democratic Party Kim Yong Dae, who is chairman of the Council for National Reconciliation, chairperson of the c.c., the Chondoist Chongu Party Ryu Mi Yong, who is chairwoman of the Council for Reunification of the Tangun Nation, officials of parties, public and religious organizations in the North Korea, people from all walks of life and youth and students in the city, delegations and delegates of Koreans from abroad including Japan, China, Europe, Russia and other regions.
An opening ceremony was followed by a memorial service.
All the attendants paid a silent tribute to the memory of king Tangun.
Vice-chairman Kang Chol Won of the c.c., the Chondoist Chongu Party made a speech at the ceremony on behalf of the north side.
    He said:
To mark the foundation day of Korea for the independence and great unity of the nation at the mausoleum of Tangun, a holy place of the nation, is of weighty significance for the Koreans, the descendants of Tangun, who have lived as one and the same nation for 5,000 years, in powerfully displaying at home and abroad the time-honored history, the homogeneity and the superiority of the nation and in bringing earlier national reunification.
As Tangun, who had been considered to be a symbol of the soul of nation, was proved to be a real person, the honor and pride of the Korean nation have increased higher.
It is a great disgrace and tragedy of the Tangun nation that the Korean nation with stronger consciousness of independence and might of unity than others should live divided into the north and the south by the outside forces.
All Koreans in the north, south and overseas should re-join the severed blood vessel of the nation through the independence and great unity of the nation and open the door of reunification at an earlier date.
Paek Jong Ho, vice-chairman of the Association of Koreans in Japan for Peaceful Reunification, spoke on behalf of the overseas side.
He extended fervent greetings in reverence to the President Kim Il Sung and Marshal Kim Jong Il, who retook and exalted the true history of the Korean nation.
Keeping in mind the unshakable faith that they will certainly win as long as they are led by Kim Jong Il, overseas Koreans will devote patriotism and loyalty to prosperity of the socialist homeland and further strengthen the three-way solidarity of the north, south and overseas in line with his great program for national reunification and thus tangibly contribute to realizing the cause of reunification, he said.
The ceremony witnessed a joint resolution of the north, south and overseas Koreans.
The joint resolution said they would wage a struggle to build a reunified confederal state without fail in the near future through the great unity of the nation under the banner of the three principles of national reunification, which were agreed upon by the north and the south, oppose the war and confrontation moves of the outside forces and anti-reunification treacherous forces and get the U.S. forces withdrawn from South Korea.
The joint resolution called for intensifying the three-way solidarity of the north, south and overseas Koreans, making tangible contributions to the cause of reunification and prosperity of the nation and waging a vigorous struggle for complete repeal of all sorts of legal and institutional mechanism in South Korea, including the "National Security Law" and for release of all the south side's delegates who attended the August 15 Pro-Reunification Festival.
Trees were planted to mark the foundation day of Korea.
An art performance was given to mark the day in front of the monument to the reconstruction of mausoleum of Tangun.

S. Korean authorities seek to keep "NSL"

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- The "National Congress for New Politics" of South Korea on September 30 gave out what is called a draft amendment to the "National Security Law," according to a radio report from Seoul.
This is one more outrageous challenge to unbiased public opinion opposing the evil law.
In Seoul late in September 120 dissident organizations, including the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the "National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification," inaugurated a South Korean people's solidarity council for the repeal of the "National Security Law" and declared October 2 day of all people's action for the abrogation of the "law."
In the meantime 40 odd religious organizations had a rally of religionists for the abrogation of the "NSL" before staging a demonstration.
The South Korean authorities are fooling public opinion with clamoring about the "amendment," which will never be pardoned by the people.

Taekwon-do ace of DPRK Kim Yong Sun

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Sun of the DPRK took the women's d class sparring match individual (63kg category) title in the 11th World Taekwon-do Championships recently held in Argentina.
In the championships she demonstrated once again her special techniques and strong will as a matchless star of Taekwon-do. She beat all opponents by skillfully applying attack and counterattack techniques, including downward kick and spin kick.
Born into a sportsman's family, she had a special taste for Taekwon-do in her childhood.
She began to cut a conspicuous figure after she became a player of the Korean Taekwon-do Committee in December Juche 79 (1990) with an ambition to display the honor of the country and the nation through Taekwon-do, a product of resources and wisdom of the nation. She engaged herself in training to possess high technique, strong physical body, indomitable fighting spirit and perseverance.
When she was 18 years old she came first in the women's sparring match individual (58kg category) and thus greatly contributed to winning the women's team finals in the 8th World Taekwon-do Championships.

Witnesses of U.S. atrocities coincide

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- The U.S. newspaper Washington Post carried an article acknowledging the fact that a series of U.S. army records in the summer of 1950 are congruous with statements of witnesses of U.S. troops' atrocities in Rogun-ri, Yongdong county, North Chungchong Province, according to the South Korean Yonhap News.
Washington Post on October 1 noted that documents found in the U.S. military archives confirm most of what survivors said in detail including the fact that the U.S. 1st cavalry division was in Rogun-ri and U.S. planes strafed around the railroad, different from the U.S. Army assertion that the division was not there at that time. The documents coincide with what survivors said including the order giving the U.S. commanders the authority to fire on refugees.
The South Korean news report said that the Washington Post noted the U.S. military had long ignored the claim of victims for compensation.

Marathon satellite

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- Han Jun Gi, former manager of race of South Korea, issued an article titled "Marathon satellite", according to Seoul-based radio Voice of National Salvation.
He said in the article that Jong Song Ok's victory at the women's marathon race of the 7th World Athletics Championships is a heroic deed of marathon satellite following and upholding the leader Kim Jong Il, the sun of Juche, like a satellite moving round the sun.
    The author said:
Answering the reporters' question about the secret of the championship, she told, "I ran all the way picturing the leader Kim Jong Il in my mind. This was a great encouragement to me and a source of my strength".
The ardent mind to bring happiness to her leader with gold medal and the self-confidence that she can certainly emerge victorious as she is led by the leader -- this was a source of strength of marathoner Jong who appeared as the "world's supreme runner of iron legs".
Through her secret of the championship I see the single-hearted unity in the north where the leader and people formed the relations between the sun and satellite.
Her victory was an event proving the powerful national strength and indomitable spirit of the thriving north and demonstrating inexhaustible might of loyalty and filial piety.
Victor's destiny can be exalted only when he is led by the great leader. The Title of DPRK Hero, the Title of the People's Sportswoman, the gold watch bearing the august name of Kim Il Sung, the deluxe Benz and the luxurious flat awarded to athlete Jong Song Ok are a result of affection of the leader Kim Jong Il.
Saying that Jong's victory is shining with a gold medal as there is the leader Kim Jong Il, the sun of Juche, he called upon the people in South Korea to become the satellite upholding the leader as jong did.
