S. Korean chief executive's flunkeyist utterances

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- The South Korean chief executive, under the pressure of public opinion, reluctantly gave an order to "investigate" the GIs' mass killing in Rogun-ri and air raids on fishermen at the sea around Tok Islet at a "state council meeting" held on Tuesday, a Seoul-based radio reported.
But he stressed that "the 'investigation' must be carefully made not to harm the friendly relations with the U.S."
Worse still, he talked such nonsense as protecting his master, the U.S., and unreasonably cried that the institutions of the "government" must urge the press to correct the "wrong and distorted reports" and protest against them. This fact aroused greater indignation among the people.

Rodong Sinmun on DCRK founding proposal

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun on Thursday carried an article saying that the proposal for founding the Democratic Confederal Republic of Koryo (DCRK) put forward by the President Kim Il Sung is the realistic and reasonable patriotic way of reunifying Korea most easily and quickly.
The daily went on to say:
Different ideas and social systems have existed in the north and the south of the Korean peninsula for over half a century. Any side of them does not want to give up its own idea and system. Under this condition any side of the north and the south should not absolutize its own ideology and social system or try to force them on the other side for the peaceful reunification of the country.
The DCRK founding proposal is based on the realistic possibility that people with different ideas can live together in a country and different social systems can exist in a unified country.
A few years ago, Hong Kong reverted to China. This practically proved that the two different social systems can co-exist in a country.
The Korean people can no longer allow the tragic division of the nation. They are unanimously considering it as the supreme task of the nation to reunify the country.
The DCRK founding proposal is realistic in view of interests of the countries around Korea as well as of its nation.
The proposal is aimed at creating an independent neutral state and a non-aligned state which is not a satellite country of others and does not depend on any outside forces.
Accordingly, if a confederal state is founded in the Korean peninsula, all the foreign troops will withdraw from South Korea and foreign military bases will be dismantled.
Then there will be no confrontation or conflict in the interests of countries around the Korean peninsula.
All the Koreans will achieve the cause of national reunification in the near future by realizing the DCRK founding proposal under the wise leadership of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Il.

Russian organization demands withdrawal of U.S. troops

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- The international union of officers of the Soviet Union on Oct. 5 made public a statement demanding the withdrawal of the U.S. troops from South Korea.
The statement denounced the U.S. policy to dominate all regions of the world, declare any place of the globe as the region for its vital interests and "solve" all the disputes occurring in different countries with strength.
    The statement said:
The U.S. had once announced it would withdraw some of its troops from South Korea and put an end to the state of cease-fire. Against its verbal advertisement, however, it wants to keep its forces in South Korea even after the reunification of Korea.
Especially, it deems the Korean peninsula the springboard for realizing its strategy for world domination. This makes the international situation more and more unstable.
The statement called for immediately withdrawing the U.S. troops from South Korea and giving the Korean people the possibility of building a single state and developing it by themselves.

Letter to Kim Jong Il from participants in Asian seminar

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il on October 8 received a letter from the participants in the Asian seminar on the independent development of society and self-reliance.
    The letter says:
The seminar reached the consensus of views that the road of self-reliance indicated by the Juche idea founded by the President Kim Il Sung and developed in depth by the respected Kim Jong Il makes it possible to put an end to domination, subordination and inequality and build an independent and peaceful new society.
Korea is now shining as a powerful socialist state upon which nobody can pounce. It is the result of the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il who has led the revolution and the construction to victory, smashing all the moves of the imperialists and reactionaries with the power of self-reliance.
He is the destiny of the Korean people, the source of power encouraging humankind, the experienced veteran of the present-day politics who steers the current of history and the great defender of world peace.

S. Korean authorities urged to clarify mysterious death

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- Bereaved family members of a soldier of the South Korean Navy, Ra Ji Myong (21), who was found dead at the entrance to a flat in Kimchon city, North Kyongsang Province, on Sept. 28 last year, demanded the South Korean authorities probe the truth behind the mysterious death, a South Korean radio reported.
The family members accused the South Korean Navy authorities of making a decision in a hurry that his death was a "suicide." They said that the daybook of his unit, which was important to clarify his last whereabouts, was cunningly cooked up and it was proved that on the day before he died some people saw him in the unit after holiday.
They are struggling for the probe into the truth, saying that they cannot hold a funeral before the truth is clarified.
The radio said that the body had been in the mortuary of a hospital for over a year because of the insincere investigation of the army.

Crimes committed by GIs increased

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- The number of the GIs who committed different crimes such as murder, robbery and rape during the period from 1996 to the end of August this year is 656, the South Korean paper Choongang Ilbo on Wednesday reported.
The paper said that during the same period only 7 U.S. criminals faced perfunctory trials which were staged to deceive public opinion.
The South Korean authorities have not only protected the crimes committed by GIs but also enforced thorough news block out to cover up them, only betraying their true color as traitors.
According to the paper, the number of the crimes of murders, robberies and rapes which were committed by GIs from the last year to the end of August this year reached 23. But only 3 incidents of them were made public through the press.

Farce to cover up massacre

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- Papers here today expose the farce of the United States and the South Korean authorities, its accomplice, to conceal massacres committed in different parts of South Korea during the Korean War.
U.S. Defense Secretary Cohen in a recent "letter" to the South Korean chief executive said that the truth behind the massacre in Yongdong would be thoroughly investigated. This shows the U.S., in league with the South Korean authorities, is seeking to bury the murder case in oblivion, Rodong Sinmun in a signed commentary says, and goes on:
The truth behind the massacre in Yongdong was clearly disclosed by the order of the headquarters of the 25th division of the U.S. Army and other official documents, those who were in the scene or involved in the massacres at that time, and survivors.
Under this situation, the U.S. should officially admit its crime, and apologize and compensate for it and take a step for preventing its repetition.
It is a mockery and challenge to the Korean nation who has deep-rankled rancor against the murderers that the U.S. and the South Korean authorities are resorting to cunning tricks to conceal massacres by U.S. troops.
The South Korean people and conscientious humankind clearly see the impudence of the U.S. imperialists and the flunkeyist and traitorous nature of the South Korean rulers.
Moral rules demand that murderers be chased after, arrested and punished mercilessly to the end.
Minju Joson in a signed commentary notes that the U.S. should not make deceptive "investigation" but admit their massacre in South Korea, fully apologize and compensate for it and go out of South Korea, taking all their lethal weapons with them, as demanded by the people at home and abroad.

A ceremony for lighting a lamp was held at the seminar to the effect that the Juche idea indicates the road ahead of humankind.
Then, Nepal government and party leaders made congratulatory speeches.

He said in his report that to build an independent and prosperous new Asia is an inevitable requirement of historic development and an urgent demand of peoples in Asian countries.
In order to achieve the independent development of each country and build an independent and prosperous new society, it is imperative to strive to defend the principle of independence in politics and build a self-supporting national economy on the principle of self-reliance, he noted, and went on:
To realise the independence of Asia it is necessary to intensify the anti-imperialist struggle and strengthen the unity and cooperation among the Asian countries.
For the victory of the cause of independence the Asian countries, transcending the slightest difference in interests, should firmly unite under the banner of the anti-imperialist joint front and counter the imperialists' divide-and-crush tactics with the strategy of unity.
The reporter called for fully supporting and encouraging the Korean people in their struggle to check and frustrate the imperialists' moves for isolation and suffocation and build a powerful socialist state.
Speeches were made by delegates of Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India and other countries and the secretary general of the Korean Social Scientists Society.
The popular masses should take an independent and creative position with the attitude befitting masters of the revolution and construction, build a self-supporting national economy under the uplifted banner of self-reliance and build a prosperous, sovereign and independent state, they noted, and continued:
The collective self-reliance is a realistic way for the underdeveloped countries and the developing countries to apply the principle of self-reliance. The peoples of the developing Asian countries should expand south-south cooperation and exchange with all potentialities and possibilities on the principle of the collective self-reliance.
A letter to Kim Jong Il and a declaration "let us vigorously struggle for the independent development of Asia under the uplifted banner of self-reliance" were adopted at the seminar.
Self-reliance, the fundamental demand of the Juche idea, is the most correct way of building an independent and prosperous new Asia. The work for social progress and prosperity can be successful only when believing in the strength of the people and depending on them, the declaration said, and went on:
The Asian countries and peoples should firmly adhere to the anti-imperialist independent stand, fight against the imperialists and defend independence, sovereignty and security of their countries and nations by their own efforts.
The Asian countries should build a developed and self-supporting national economy with the creative labour of their peoples and their resources on the principle of self-reliance, thoroughly check the ideological and cultural infiltration of the imperialists and carry forward the heritage of national culture peculiar to them.
The Asian countries should unite and cooperate under the banner of self-reliance on a nation-wide and a world-wide scale to accelerate the building of an independent new society and make all efforts to expand and develop the south-south cooperation in particular.

The statement "we will resolutely struggle for the total repeal of the 'security law'" was made public at the meeting.
The statement expressed full support for the appeal.
    The statement said:
The amendment to the "security law" advertised by the present chief executive of South Korea is a vicious challenge to the nation. Anyone should not go against the nation's desire for the total abolishment of the "security law."
The South Korean chief executive must totally repeal the "security law" as required by the nation at an early date and unconditionally release the pro-reunification patriots who are behind bars on groundless charges.

Rodong Sinmun calls for building new world

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article says that humankind unanimously hopes the new century will be a century of independence, equality and peace.
The forthcoming 21st century will be the most developed and progressive century if all dominationism, high-handedness and arbitrariness are liquidated, the independence and interests of all the sovereign states are respected and justice and impartiality are guaranteed in the international relations, the article points out, and goes on:
To make the 21st century a century of independence, durable peace and security, high-handedness and arbitrariness should not be permitted in the international relations but a new fair international order should be established.
To this end, the principle of respect for sovereignty should be observed as the supreme principle in the international relations, fairness be ensured in instituting and applying international conventions and the UN be reformed and democratized.
Only when the new century is a century of independence, equality and peace, not a century of high-handedness and arbitrariness, can great progress be made in accomplishing the cause of independence of the popular masses, the cause of global independence.

Korean textile industry

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- October 15 is the Day of Textile Industry in Korea.
Textile workers all over the country are marking the day with big successes in production.
17 textile factories under the Ministry of Light Industry over-fulfilled their annual plans as of Oct. 10. Among them are the September Textile Factory, the Sakju Fabrics Factory, the Wonsan Spinning Mill and the Kaechon Fabrics Factory.
Taking the ministry as a whole, the production of yarn and textile increased nearly 1.3 times and that of textile machines 1.2 times as compared with the same period of last year.
Many factories including the Pyongyang Textile Combine, the Pakchon Silk Factory and the Sinuiju Spinning Machine Factory over-fulfilled monthly plans for this year, far higher than last year, in the high-pitched revolutionary spirit of self-reliance during the second great Chollima march, although they were hard pressed for everything.
The Changsong, Kaechon, Kanggye and other fabrics factories under the guidance bureau of local industries are mass-producing high-quality cloth of various kinds catering to the taste and aesthetic sense of people.
The DPRK has a solid foundation of textile industry.
After the liberation of the country, the President Kim Il Sung took specific measures for the construction of textile industry in order to solve the people's clothing problem as early as possible though the economy condition was difficult.
A number of large-scale modern textile factories and minor local fabrics mills were constructed all over the country under the deep concern of the state.
Today the Korean textile industry has many-sided structures to meet the people's need by itself as well as its own raw material bases and solid foundation based on up-to-date science and technology.
Now, the textile workers are continuously making successes in production through a vigorous drive to learn from the fighting spirit of heroine Jong Song Ok.

More massacres by U.S. troops disclosed

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- Massacres of innocent people by the U.S. aggression troops in different parts of South Korea during the Korean War (June 1950-July 1953) are being disclosed in succession.
The U.S. soldiers killed hundreds of civilians in North Kyongsang Province alone.
One day in 1951, six U.S. military planes dropped bombs over a village in Sansong-ri, Pomun-myon (sub-county),Rryechon county, and sprinkled oil to set fire, leaving over 50 old people, children and women dead and over 90 others wounded, according to statements of villagers.
According to the "war history of U.S. forces" published in 1960 and testimonies of ex-soldiers of the U.S. army, the U.S. troops exploded the Waegwan bridge in Waegwan town, Chilgok county, and the Toksung bridge in Koryong county, North Kyongsang Province, killing hundreds of people in each place on August 3, 1950.
The U.S. bombers dropped tens of bombs over Kumi city, North Kyongsang Province, killing or wounding more than a hundred villagers.
The U.S. aggression troops committed a thrilling murder in a place near the scene of the massacre in Rogun-ri, Yongdong county toward the end of July, 1950. On seeing a group of people walking along the railway, they opened up a blistering mortar barrage, killing hundreds of them in a flash.
Disclosing this barbarity, an ex-soldier of the U.S. Army confessed that he saw dead bodies and limbs scattered on the scene after the mortar attack.

FM spokesman on disclosed massacres by GIs

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK today answered the question put by KCNA as regards the world public opinion stirred up by the continued disclosure of the massacres of civilians committed by the U.S. troops in South Korea before and during the Korean War.
The Associated Press on September 29 reported about the massacre of over 400 residents by GIs in Rogun-ri, Yongdong county, North Chungchong Province of South Korea in the summer of 1950. And the brutal killing of people by the U.S. troops in different parts of South Korea before and during the war is being opened to the public in succession.
The newly disclosed massacres are no more than part of innumerable barbarities committed by the U.S. troops against the Korean people during the Korean War, the spokesman said, and continued:
In Sinchon county, South Hwanghae Province, the U.S. aggression troops killed over 35,000 innocent people in cold blood in a way that is beyond human imagination. This clearly proves that the U.S. is beasts of the 20th century who put the Nazi criminals of World War II to shame.
Today when crimes of the U.S. troops have been fully disclosed by the testimonies of witnesses and those who were involved, however, the South Korean authorities do not actively probe the cases in a bid to hush it up, kowtowing to the United States, their master, as in the past.
This proves once again that the South Korean authorities are the pro-American flunkeyists and traitors who are not interested in the destinies of the nation and fellow countrymen.
We will square accounts with the U.S. for all their crimes against our people and make them pay for the blood.
If lasting peace and stability are to be ensured on the Korean peninsula and the issue of Korea's reunification is to be solved smoothly in conformity with the aspiration and demand of our people and the peace-loving people of the world, the U.S. troops should withdraw from South Korea at an early date and the U.S. interference in the internal affairs of Korea should be completely terminated.
