Projected "multi-party security cooperation system" assailed
Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- The "multi-party security cooperation system" in northeast Asia projected by the U.S., Japan and South Korea is premature from every point of view, Rodong Sinmun in a signed commentary says, and goes on:
The Korean issue, the core of the northeast Asian security problem, can be solved if the north and the south achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country through dialogue and negotiations at the end of the immediate pullback of the U.S. Forces from South Korea and the signing of a peace agreement between the DPRK and the U.S. The U.S., Japan and South Korea are the arch criminals threathening the northeast Asian security. They are watching for a chance to provoke a new Korean war while escalating their military pressure upon the DPRK.
The establishment of sort of "multi-party security cooperation system" is out of question now that the belligerent relations, the hostile relations between the DPRK and the U.S., Japan and South Korea are further aggravating and there are no state and official relations that may guarantee such cooperation in the issue of security.
It is the Korean nation who should solve its issue in a responsible manner.
The issue of Korean reunification should be settled by the parties concerned independently through dialogue and negotiations. In spite of this, an attempt to build a "multi-party security cooperation system" is to evade responsibility as a party concerned.
The DPRK will neither subscribe to the projected "multi-party security cooperation system" in northeast Asia nor allow the Korean issue to become an object of discussion.
S. Korean students' anti-U.S. actions supported
Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- A rally and demonstration staged by at least one thousand students under the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils on October 16 in protest against the brutal massacre of South Korean civilians by U.S. aggression forces during the Korean war were an eruption of their pent-up resentment and anger at the U.S. aggressors, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary.
It goes on:
The anti-U.S. rally and demonstration of the South Korean students were not prompted by any temporary emotion and impulse but a reflection of the South Korean people's growing anti-U.S. sentiment. They are a natural outcome of the U.S. colonial rule over South Korea.
Over the last more than half century since the U.S. aggressors' occupation of South Korea they have enforced a vicious colonial enslavement policy, pursuing harsh repressive, predatory and war policies and committing all manner of brutalities against the South Korean people.
To thoroughly probe the truth of U.S. aggression forces' atrocities and punish the killers will be the first step towards making them pay for their crimes committed against the Korean people during the last 50 odd years, the commentary stresses.
Congratulatory group of Korean Children's Union
Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- The congratulatory group of the Korean Children's Union has made its 100th presentation.
It has been a tradition in the DPRK for the group to make its presentation at each important party and state meeting or political function.
The group is made up with 20 boys and girls, aged 10-13.
They cultivate their talents in the story-telling circle of the Pyongyang Schoolchildren's Palace after school hours.
Their activities are conducted as part of socio-political activities of the schoolchildren.
Their performance is characterized by the militant and appealing narration and a high artistic skill.
The brave and bright appearance of the schoolchildren represents the happiness of the younger generation stoutly growing up to be reliable suceessors to the revolutionary cause of Juche.
The congratulatory messages of the group have a strong appeal as they deal with the policies of the Workers' Party of Korea in the annals of the Korean revolution and the struggle of the working people to carry them out.
The group derives its origin from the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle started and led by the great leader President Kim Il Sung.
During this period, members of the children's corps bolstered the spirit of guerrillas with speeches, songs and dances in congratulation of their combat victories.
The group gave its premiere in June, Juche 37 (1948).
Its speeches made at the third congress of the League of Democratic Youth of North Korea held in Pyongyang at that time powerfully encouraged the young Koreans to perform miracles and feats in the building of a new country.
Over the last half a century, the group has played an important role in inspiring the people to forge ahead with the times and imbuing them with confidence of the victory of the revolution and optimism about future.
The congratulatory messages made by the group at many functions including the 42nd birthday of President Kim Il Sung (April 1954), the 4th Congress of the WPK (September 1961), the meeting of Korean intellectuals (December 1992), the national meeting of secretaries of the party cells (March 1994) and the grand pan-national pro-reunification festival (August 1999) fully demonstrated a high degree of organization and agitating power of the group which regards the intense loyalty to the party and leader as its life and soul.
Complaint against IMF
Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- The "National Federation of Banking Workers Unions" of South Korea called a press conference on October 15 and lodged a complaint with the Seoul district "court" against the International Monetary Fund, according to a radio report from Seoul.
The organization said that a series of deceptive economic measures taken by the IMF allegedly to solve the economic crisis of South Korea have failed one after another, inflicting heavier damage upon the workers and others.
The organization clarified its decision to file a lawsuit against the IMF to call it to account and presented to the court a signature paper supported by 300,000 citizens and a written claim for damages.
But the despicable South Korean authorities have shielded the IMF by talking about "granting it a privilege" and ignored the just demand of the strikers.
