Electrical appliances production center

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The June 1 Youth General Electrical Appliances Factory is situated in Hamhung, South Hamgyong Province, of Korea.
Called "youth factory," it produces over 450 kinds and various sizes of many control panels, distribution boxes, electrical control appliances, chandeliers and electrical daily necessities every year, thus greatly contributing to putting the national economy on Juche-oriented, modernized and scientific basis.
At the time of its foundation in March 1953, it had more than 40 employees including three technicians and produced only over ten kinds of small farm tools.
Now the factory has developed into a general electrical appliances production center with tens of branch factories and thousands of facilities.
Tens of thousands control panels of more than 230 kinds are being produced there every year as one of its major products.
It has a great technical potential= one technician for every three employees.
Its technical group developed a digital control device for machine tools and streamlined its production processes by itself already early in the 1990s to draw attention of experts and technicians.
It trains able technicians at a machine experts school and school for skilled workers.
Its products exported to scores of countries are very popular for their high quality and special features.
Over 50 kinds of chandeliers and lighting appliances and electrical daily necessities produced there are in great demand abroad.
General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot guidance to the factory in September and was greatly satisfied to see its workers and technicians producing a large number of good-quality electrical appliances.

Badge bearing Portrait of Kim Il Sung

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The Korean people deeply revere the President Kim Il Sung as the eternal leader of the revolution.
This is clearly proved by the fact that all of them always have badges bearing the President's Portrait pinned on their chests with care even though five years have passed since his demise.
This is an expression of their strong admiration for his greatness and immortal exploits and a symbol of their unbreakable unity.
In the run-up to the fifth congress of the Worker's Party of Korea in November 1970, General Secretary Kim Jong Il proposed to make and confer the badge bearing the President's Portrait, which reflects the unanimous desire of the Korean people, to its delegates. He made sure that the preparatory committee for the congress undertook this work.
When the first badge was made, Kim Jong Il had it on his chest before any others.
At that time he said that one should have the badge on his heart, not on the right side of his chest.
Badges thus produced were awarded to the delegates to the congress before its opening.
The Korean people have since worn the badges on their chests, regarding it as their greatest pride and happiness to do so.
President Kim Il Sung always lives in the hearts of the Korean people as he represents their idea, faith, destiny and future.
That is why people unhesitatingly dedicate even their lives to protecting the badge from any danger.
There are many examples showing how people protected badges bearing the President's Portrait from fire and water.
In March last year 17 soldiers of the Korean People's Army died heroic deaths while protecting slogan bearing trees from an unexpected forest fire in a revolutionary site. They became heroes of the republic. In November of the same year 3 fishermen and 12 soldiers who had been adrift in the stormy sea because of an engine trouble kept the badges safe before meeting deaths. The title of the hero of the republic was posthumously awarded to them.
This shows the unshakable will of the Korean people to devotedly General Secretary Kim Jong Il, who is just like President Kim Il Sung.

Major threat to global peace and security

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The power politics and arbitrary practice of the imperialists and dominationists are the main threat to the global peace and security, observes Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
    It says:
The principle of justice and impartiality is ignored in the international relations, the principle of equal sovereignty vital to UN activities is shaken to its very foundation and serious armed intervention in the internal affairs of sovereign states is practiced. All this is chiefly attributable to power politics and arbitrary practice.
The imperialist forces are entirely to blame for power politics and arbitrary practice.
The imperialists' power politics and arbitrary practice cannot but pose themselves as a most serious matter in the international relations as there are no military competitors and the balance of forces is upset.
The power politics and arbitrary practice pose a potential threat to the global peace and security because they are accompanied by the use of force.
This is well illustrated by the Balkan crisis.
Taking the air strike against Yugoslavia as a precedent, the imperialists will continue to resort to military threat and intervention in weak countries on this or that absurd pretext.
The Korean peninsula is exposed to the danger of power politics and arbitrary practice.
This is one of the reasons why they are a main threat to the global peace and security.
Following the Balkan crisis the U.S. designated the Korean peninsula as the next target of its military operation.
Power politics and arbitrary practice should never be allowed and connived at if the global peace and security are to be ensured.

"Foal Eagle" war maneuver assailed

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary assails the South Korean warmongers for launching together with the U.S. an aggressive "Foal Eagle" joint war maneuver throughout South Korea on Tuesday.
The commentary terms this as a vicious challenge to the unanimous aspiration and demand of the Korean nation for peace and reunification and a serious development further increasing the danger of war against the north.
    It goes on:
The forces and equipment involved in the exercise are huge enough to undertake an all-out war. Its offensive nature is proved by the joint marine landing drill, joint naval special drill and air transport and strike exercise of the "air operation command" of the puppet army which has been newly organized as an offensive force.
Clear is the reason why "Foal Eagle" has spread its wings.
The "Foal Eagle" is an extension of the "team spirit", a test nuclear war against the north. It is aimed at bringing the military confrontation and tensions on the Korean peninsula to an extreme pitch and igniting the second Korean war without fail.
If the U.S. and the South Korean warmongers ignite a war of aggression against the north, the DPRK will mercilessly punish them by mobilizing all means and methods.

"Foal Eagle" joint military exercise denounced

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland issued a statement on October 26 to denounce the "Foal Eagle" joint military exercise launched by the United States and the South Korean authorities throughout South Korea against the DPRK.
    The statement said:
The war exercise which started on October 26 is participated in by over 35,000 U.S. troops including the U.S. aggression forces stationed in South Korea, the flotilla of the carrier "Kitty Hawk", the main carrier of the U.S. pacific fleet, and more than 500,000 "ROK army" forces.
Meanwhile, the joint provocative "99 Hwarang" war drill has been staged by civilians, officials and soldiers since Oct. 25.
The United States worked out the "operation plan 5027-98", a war scenario targeted against the DPRK, and is daily committing military provocations and war exercises against the north after massively reinforcing armed forces.
The "Foal Eagle" is a continuation of the anti-DPRK confrontation and aggression moves of the U.S. bellicose circles and the South Korean ruling quarters to stifle the socialist system of the DPRK.
The Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland in the name of the whole nation vehemently denounces the U.S. and the South Korean authorities for staging the reckless "Foal Eagle" war exercise against the north and bringing the Korean situation to the brink of war.
Unshakable is the stand of the people and people's army of Korea on the issue of war.
The U.S. and the South Korean authorities should stop rash acts clearly mindful of the will of the Korean people and army to deal a merciless and crushing blow to the enemies.

KCNA demands total abrogation of "security law"

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The anti-reunification and undemocratic fascist "security law" in South Korea is fated to be judged by history after being bitterly condemned by the public at home and abroad.
The abrogation of the "security law" is an irresistible demand of the times.
However, the South Korean authorities are defying this demand of the times and history, vociferating about "landmark revision of the security law."
For example, the South Korean chief executive on Oct. 22 put forward a "draft amendment to the law" which calls for rewriting or deleting just a few articles of the "law" and "Prime Minister" of South Korea Kim Jong Pil openly insisted at the "National Assembly" on Monday that the total repeal of the "security law" is impossible.
These are mockery of and challenge to the Korean nation and the world public that have ardently aspired after the democratization of the South Korean society and the independent reunification of Korea.
What the Korean people and the world progressives have consistently demanded is a total repeal of the "security law", not partial "amendment." Even the present chief executive himself also admitted this many a time in the past.
All the articles of the "security law" have served as leverage to stop the mouths and ears of the South Korean people and bind them hand and foot and has been the biggest obstacle to the democratization of the South Korean society and the reunification of the country.
It is entirely because of the unprecedented anti-reunification fascist "security law" that the hostile inter-Korean relations have gone from bad to worse.
The South Korean authorities should not resort to the farce of amending the "security law," mockery of the public at home and abroad, but totally repeal without delay the anti-national fascist law in compliance with the demand of the whole nation and the times.

S. Korean authorities' pro-Japanese move censured

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- Citizens of Hanam in Kyonggi Province, South Korea, bitterly censured the authorities for attempting to erect a "monument" to a pro-Japanese element, a South Korean newspaper reported.
They demanded the authorities clarify their plan to erect even a "monument" to a pro-Japanese "poet" who committed treacheries after joining a Japan-controlled organization in 1943.
They declared that if the authorities go ahead with the pro-Japanese plan, defying this demand, they will take a more dynamic concerted action.

Total repeal of "security law" called for

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- Citizens and civic organizations in Inchon, South Korea, the headquarters of the struggle for Korean nation, the campaign for 1,999-man declaration of Myongji University and other organizations issued declarations for the repeal of the "security law" before launching their struggle, according to a news report.
    They said:
Abolish the "security law", an anti-reunification, unpopular and undemocratic law.
We support the hunger strike of the Inchon Catholic Priests' Council for the abrogation of the "security law."
The "security law", a leftover of the old era which has brought sufferings to the people for more than 50 years, must be totally scrapped.
1,999 and other students, professors and teachers of Myongji University demand the "security law" be totally abolished within this year.
We state that we will vigorously struggle till the day of the total abrogation of the "security law" which suppresses the political unity of workers and other people and their freedom of thinking and conscience and bars reunification, the ardent desire of the nation.

Japanese Foreign Minister's rubbish under fire

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The Japanese Foreign Minister in a recent interview with a Japanese weekly magazine asserted that "Japan's 'three non-nuclear principles' remain unchanged." Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary dismisses this as nonsensical.
    The commentary says:
The Japanese authorities claim that Japan is upright and integral as regards the nuclear issue, asserting the "three non-nuclear principles" are its invariable policy. However, it will convince no one.
It is well-known that Japan made a secret contract with the U.S. on allowing the shipment and passage of nuclear weapons behind the screen of "three non-nuclear principles."
Japan is fully capable of nuclear weaponization after acquiring the technology to manufacture nuclear weapons.
Advocates of nuclear-weaponization in Japan are openly asserting that the "only way" to cope with the "missile threat" by someone is to have nuclear weapons of its own.
Japan can realize nuclear weaponization any time. The "three non-nuclear principles" on their lips are nothing but a peace-veiled motto.
No matter how desperately Japan may try to paint itself as a "non-nuclear peace-loving state," ballyhooing about the "three non-nuclear principles," it can never cover up its nuclear ambition and its true colors as a militarist nation.
Japan should stop playing a clumsy trick, purify its dirty mind and drop its dangerous ambition to become a nuclear power.
