Kim Jong Il visits foodstuff factory
Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave personal guidance to the foodstuff factory managed by Om Ul Yong on Thursday.
The factory is a comprehensive foodstuff processing center that produces soy sauce, bean paste, seasoning, oil, butter, noodle, confectionery and other foodstuffs. It finished a capacity expansion project on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of the Worker's Party of Korea.
The streamlined factory equipped with up-to-date production processes will provide soldiers with larger quantities of delicious and nutritious quality foodstuffs.
He looked round the soy sauce workshop, seasoning workshop, butter workshop and other production processes and learned about how the factory had been constructed and was producing foodstuffs.
Looking at the production process of various foodstuffs, he noted with great satisfaction that his desire to supply soldiers with more quantities of delicious and nutritious foodstuffs had been met at last.
He expressed great satisfaction with the fact that the party members and other working people of the factory had kept the inside and outside of the factory neat and clean and constantly increased its production capacity with an optimistic view of the future during the "arduous march" characterized by shortage and difficulty. He urged the entire army and all the people to follow their model as creators of new culture of the working class.
He put forward important tasks to manage the factory and put production on a steady basis.
He had a picture taken with labor innovators of the factory.

Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- A seminar was held in the building of the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru on October 22 on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's classic work "Socialism Is a Science."
The chairman of the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru in his speech said that the Juche-based ideology and theory on socialism clarified in his work is the most original and scientific idea that no preceding theoreticians could ever expound.
He said Korean socialism which has been built through the thorough application of the principles of the Juche idea is people-centered socialism, an impregnable fortress.
He noted that Kim Jong Il's work is an encyclopedic work that must be firmly upheld by the political parties and peoples of all countries in the world who are aspiring after socialism in the 21st century and people-centered Korean socialism of Juche is a model of socialism.
The political secretary of the revolutionary socialist party of Peru said that Kim Jong Il in his work made a profound analysis of the cause of the errors committed by some countries which were building socialism and elucidated the scientific validity and truth of socialism.
The socialist ideology clarified in the work is a guideline for the world socialist movement at the present times and a revolutionary line we should always hold fast to, he added.
The chairman of the Peru-Korea Institute of Culture and Friendship said that socialism in Korea is a beacon illuminating the road of their struggle and the successes achieved by the Korean people in the socialist construction instill conviction of the sure victory of socialism into them.

The seminar adopted a letter to Kim Jong Il.

Improvement of DPRK-U.S. relations is not "gift"
Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- The DPRK's willingness to improve relations with the U.S. is in keeping with the trend of the times and the desire of the two peoples, notes Minju Joson today in a signed commentary.
The commentary says:
Shortly ago, the U.S. ambassador to South Korea, referring to the U.S. government's "aim" as regards the issue of the DPRK-U.S. relations, said that the U.S. will not "force the improvement of relations" upon the DPRK.
This utterance made by a senior diplomat representing the U.S. foreign policy makes us reclarify our attitude toward the issue of improving the DPRK-U.S. relations.
It is not in pursuit of any "interests" that we intend to improve relations with the U.S.
If we no longer consider the U.S. as our sworn enemy and improve relations with it, it will do the U.S. good.
However, the U.S. is trying to mislead the public opinion by creating the impression that the DPRK is interested in the improvement of the DPRK-U.S. relations in the hope of getting "sanctions" lifted and receiving "food aid." This is part of its attempts to describe the improvement of the relations as its "gift" to the DPRK.
Now is the time for the U.S. to kick a ball.
We will watch the U.S. attitude in the days ahead.
Second grand Chollima march, stamina of Korea
Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- The Korean people are now vigorously waging the second grand Chollima march for the building of a powerful nation.
This march traces its origin to the Chollima march which was made at the hard time after the war when everything was destroyed.
At that time, the Korean working people rushed forward in the spirit of Chollima, breaking through the trials and difficulties under the wise leadership of the President Kim Il Sung. By doing so, they smashed the imperialists' sophism that Korea would not be rebuilt in a century and carried out the historical tasks of industrialization in a matter of 14 years, demonstrating the greatness of the country to the world.
The recent situation of Korea was more difficult than in the postwar period.
The imperialists' moves for isolation and suffocation and years of natural disasters exerted a great effect on the national economy as a whole.
General Secretary Kim Jong Il personally kindled the fire of the second grand Chollima march to break through these severe difficulties as early as possible.
The Korean people are waging a vigorous drive to make this year a year of turning point in building a powerful nation.
Chollima, the stamina of Korea, has spread its wings again to make a leaping progress.
The energetic efforts of the working people are bringing about a steady improvement in different sectors of the national economy.
Industrial output value in the third quarter of this year increased 9 percent as against the same period of last year= electric power 9 percent, pig iron 7 percent, rolled steel 40 percent and machine tools 16 percent.
Monthly assignments higher than last years, were over fulfilled by the Songjin Steel Complex, the February 8 Jikdong Youth United Coal Mine, the Sungri General Motor Works, the Huichon General Machine Tool Plant and other units and local industry factories.
Many minor power stations have been commissioned while the building of large-scale power stations including the Thaechon Power Station is being stepped up.
KCNA on reckless joint military exercises
Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- The north-targeted dangerous war exercises are going on in and around the Korean peninsula.
The U.S.-South Korea "Foal Eagle" joint military maneuvers have been under way throughout South Korea since October 26.
Involved in the "Foal Eagle" launched allegedly to cope with an "emergency on the Korean peninsula" are more than 500,000 South Korean armed forces, over 35,000 U.S. troops, a naval task force of the 7th U.S. fleet and huge quantities of modern war equipment and means.
Such offensive forces involved in the 38th "Foal Eagle" are huge enough to undertake a war. It is aimed at starting the second Korean war.
The joint military drill of the "Self-Defense Forces" of Japan and the U.S. forces started on Wednesday, timed to coincide with the "Foal Eagle."
Meanwhile, the madcap "99 Hwarang" exercise was launched in South Korea on Monday with over one million forces including 20,000 soldiers, the "homeland defence reserve forces" and "civilian defence forces" involved.
Earlier, the U.S.-Japan joint naval drill, the Japan-South Korea joint naval drill, flying exercise of the U.S. forces present in Japan and various other joint military exercises were staged almost every day.
All this goes to prove that the hostile forces have gone to extremes in their military tie-up and insolent moves to stifle the north by force of arms. This touches off towering hatred of the Korean people and people's army.
The "Foal Eagle" and other joint military exercises started by the U.S., Japan and South Korea are part of the moves to escalate military confrontation with the DPRK and invade it.
The U.S. and its followers launched such reckless large-scale war exercises in different areas after being talkative about "detente" and "improved relations" at the end of the Berlin talks. This cannot but be an unpardonable grave military threat to the DPRK.
Such perfidy of the U.S. as whetting its sword to hurt its dialogue partner is an undisguised challenge to the desire of our fellow countrymen and the progressive humankind for peace and stability.
The U.S. and other forces hostile to the DPRK are well advised to act with reason and discretion.
If they ignite a war of aggression, misjudging our patience, they will not escape from a merciless retaliation and punishment by the Korean People's Army and people.
Inevitable consequence of anti-social policy
Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- The increasing number of lunatics has become a serious social issue in South Korea.
This is an inevitable consequence of corrupt politics and anti-social policy of the ruling quarters, say papers here today.
A signed commentary of Rodong Sinmun says:
The present South Korean ruling quarters are pursuing a flunkeyist and traitorous fascist politics of dependence on outsiders which can put the successive dictators into the shade.
In South Korea national independence and dignity have been wantonly trampled down and the number of the absolute poor has increased more than three times since it was placed under the trusteeship of the International Monetary Fund.
Over 13 million people live below the poverty line and two-third of the workers are just like the unemployed.
Lunatics are increasing in South Korea due to the evil politics of the ruling quarters and many of them are committing suicide.
Seized with despair caused by their hopeless life, 1.1 million people have become lunatics. This has become a serious social issue in South Korea. Nevertheless, the chief executive is crying that the living standard of people is "improving."
This is an unpardonable mockery and insult to the people.
With no juggling of words can the South Korean authorities escape from the criminal responsibility for inflicting sufferings upon the people.
A signed commentary of Minju Joson stresses that the history will not forgive the "people"-veiled ruling quarters of South Korea for having turned South Korea into a "nidus of diseases".

Put on the stage were dramas representing the spirit of devotedly defending the leader and carrying through the party policies which was displayed among working people in recent years of temporary economic difficulties and their noble ideological and spiritual world.
The festival marked an important occasion in defending the Juche-based theory on drama, applying it to creation and developing drama art.
University wing crowded with visitors

Exhibited there are more than 3,000 materials of over 1,100 kinds on successful scientific researches contributed by over 80 universities in the capital and local areas including Kim Il Sung University and Kim Chaek University of Technology.
Among them are latest scientific and technical achievements including a scan electron microscope of high magnification, a metal hydride-nickel battery and high dielectric constant electric ceramic membranes produced at Kim Il Sung University.
Also on display are other scientific and research achievements conducive to making the national economy Juche-oriented, modern and scientific including a processing lathe capable of three-dimensional processing of materials made at Kim Chaek University of Technology and a fish processing machine made at the Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering.
Also exhibited are "kaoliang Ryong Nam" and other new varieties of crop seeds which can ensure a stable high yield even under bad weather conditions. Also seen are "interferon" produced by Korean scientists and technicians for the first time by applying genetic engineering technology and other materials noteworthy in the medical and biological field.
Visitors show keen interest in a "super-high vaccume pump," "silver water stone," "Hosimhwan" and "menthol-absorbent for cigarette" and other research successes which were highly praised at the Geneva International Inventions and New Technology Saloons. These show a rapid progress made in higher education in the DPRK.
Intensified anti-U.S. Struggle called for
Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- The mission of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) in Pyongyang called a press conference Thursday as regards the recent disclosure of more facts about massacres committed by the U.S. forces in South Korea during the Korean War which greatly angered the public at home and abroad.
The press conference was attended by home and foreign mediamen.
Speaking at the press conference, chief of the mission Pak Kwang Gi condemned GIs' massacre as a most hideous killing in the human history and barbarism intended to exterminate the Korean nation.
Though the truth behind the U.S. forces' atrocities has been clearly confirmed, the United States and the South Korean authorities have taken an ambiguous stand and approach towards them, leaving intolerable serious issues.
He elaborated on the fact that the U.S. forces' massacre was absolutely an intentional and premeditated one perpetrated on the orders of U.S. forces' commanders.
Hard hit by the Korean People's Army after igniting a war to invade the north, the U.S. forces mercilessly killed innocent civilians to give vent to their anger, he said, adding:
Another point at issue is that the United States and the South Korean authorities mentioned only a few controversial cases of the U.S. forces' killings committed during the war and have kept mum about the monstrous crimes including those killings committed before and after the war.
With nothing can the United States conceal the truth behind the shuddering massacres committed by the U.S. forces during the war and all crimes they have perpetrated in the south in the past more than 50 years or flee from responsibility for those crimes.
The South Korean authorities should immediately stop such treacheries as betraying the nation's dignity and interests by covering up and defending the U.S. forces' killings and step down.
It is the way of rooting out U.S. forces' crimes to achieve independence, democracy and reunification. He renewed the pledge of the NDFSK to rouse the people from all walks of life to the intensified anti-U.S. struggle for independence.
Then, Pak Kwang Gi answered questions put by reporters.
Japan's nuclear ambition should be uprooted
Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today slams the Japanese reactionaries for designing to use the recent nuclear accident as an opportunity to step up their nuclear armament.
The recent nuclear accident rocking Japan was the inevitable consequence of their long-standing frantic policy to become a nuclear power, the news analyst says.
Referring in detail to the Japanese authorities' plan for surplus stockpile of plutonium and the amount of nuclear warheads that will be made from it he points out that they are needed for an actual war, not for decorative or ornamental use.
He goes on:
The Japanese reactionaries, feeling that their defeat in the last world war is attributable to weak power and to having no nuclear weapons, regard nuclear weapons as an all-powerful means to achieve their ambition for domination over Asia and the world and intend to make no scruple of massacring humankind for this purpose.
Japan has removed institutional mechanism, the broke on nuclear armament and overseas military operations, one by one and established the system for aggressive war in the main.
It is the serious pending issue, not one of future, that Japan will exert nuclear disasters upon the world people in a bid to realise its ambition for overseas aggression.
In order to prevent the terrible genocide Japan should be brought to court and indicted for its dangerous plan to become a nuclear power and the seriousness of the situation and that its nuclear armament should be stopped under strict international surveillance.
The Japanese reactionaries think that, as the permanent members of the UN Security Council are all nuclear weapon states, they can arm themselves on a legal basis with nuclear weapons if they take the permanent seat.
Now that nuclear threat from Japan exists, it is an urgent task to uproot the nuclear ambition of Japan.
If Japan starts a nuclear war, the whole land of Japan will sustain the same nuclear holocaust as Hiroshima.
U.S. massacre in Korea denounced
Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- The DPRK Institute of National Reunification on October 27 issued memorandum accusing the U.S. aggressor troops of their hair-raising massacre and unethical crimes committed against Koreans.
Recalling that the recent disclosure of fractional part of the massacre of civilians committed by U.S. aggressors in the Rogun-ri area, Yongdong county, North Chungchong Province, during the Korean War touched off a strong condemnation across South Korea, the memorandum says:
After the disclosure of the massacre in Rogun-ri, many South Koreans who have been forced to keep silence on it for scores of years due to the suppression by the U.S. and the South Korean authorities are coming out to testify to the crimes one after another.
As a result, the whole story about their atrocities is brought to light as the days go by.
On August 15, 1946 more than 2,600 workers of the Hwasun Coal Mine, South Jolla Province, were on their way to Kwangju to participate in a rally protesting against GIs' plunder. Seeing them, U.S. soldiers bayoneted and shot to death hundreds of them. The dead bodies remained on the scene for one week as the workers were not allowed to carry them.
On August 3, 1950 they blew up Toksung bridge in Koryong county, North Kyongsang Province, killing hundreds of civilians and also blasted Waegwan bridge in Chilgok county, leaving hundreds of people dead.
American massacre of civilians was also reported in south Chungchong and south Kyongsang provinces and in the area along the River Raktong and other areas.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of the massacres committed by the U.S. aggressor troops.
Their killings of Koreans have a history of more than a hundred years. They began invading Korea aboard the pirate ship general Sherman more than 130 years ago. They killed Koreans as they hunted natives in Americas. Typical of their massacre in the early period of their aggression on Korea was their killing of over 350 guiltless people after their reinvasion of Kanghwa Island in 1871.
The U.S.'s killing of Korean people became more brutal after their military occupation of South Korea.
When the popular resistance broke out on Jeju Island in April 1948, the U.S. shot and stabbed people to death or put them to death by hanging or buried them alive and threw them into the sea, killing them.
Even the "UN temporary committee on Korea" could not but admit in a report on the tragedy on Jeju Island that the U.S. forces killed more than 35,000 people or over one fourth of the population of the island, in the period from April to October 1948 under the direct command of Robert, head of the U.S. military advisory group.
At least 109,000 people of South Korea were killed by the U.S. in 1949 alone.
The U.S. committed shocking massacres after igniting the Korean War of aggression.
They killed as many as one million civilians across South Korea in one year after the outbreak of the war.
They killed more than one million civilians during their temporary occupation of some areas of the north. In Sinchon county, South Hwanghae Province, alone they killed more than 35,380 people or one fourth of its entire population in a little over 50 days.
Lording it over South Korea after the war, they ruthlessly killed people as their hunting and shooting targets and playthings and for pleasure, regardless of men and women, young and old.
The number of the cases of atrocities committed by them in South Korea since the August 15, 1945 liberation of the country is more than 270,000 and these took the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, counting only these reported after the war.
The gravity of their massacre of Koreans lies in that this was a state organized crime committed in pursuance of the U.S. hostile policy toward the Korean nation.
Even according to the recent AP report, the massacre in Rogun-ri was not committed by GIs alone but on the order of the far eastern U.S. forces command and the 8th U.S. army command and it was spearheaded by military officers ranging from company commanders to division commanders.
Thousands of South Koreans were killed during the Kwangju Popular Uprising in May 1980. Gleysteen, the then U.S. ambassador to South Korea, in his message to the U.S. State Department said that the U.S. agreed to the South Korean authorities' use of forces under the combined forces command.
This is clear evidence that their massacre of Korean people was an organized crime committed in line with U.S. policy.
This notwithstanding, the U.S. ruling quarters refuse to admit their crimes and are employing a crafty plot to evade their responsibility for them. Moreover, the South Korean authorities are resorting to a clumsy trick to conceal the U.S.'s atrocities at any cost.
The historical facts and lessons go to prove that as long as the U.S. persist in their moves for aggression and their troops remain in South Korea, the South Korean people can neither live in peace even a moment nor can even a day pass by without seeing the blood shed by Koreans.
The United States should honestly admit its crimes and unconditionally apologize and compensate to the Korean people for the damage done to them for so many years.
