Kim Chol Ju was born on June 12, Juche 5 (1916) in Mangyongdae. Receiving revolutionary education from his parents and guidance from the President Kim Il Sung, he nurtured anti-Japanese patriotic idea and high class awareness and grew up to be an indomitable communist revolutionary fighter possessed of noble revolutionary spirit and virtue.
He dedicated himself to the struggle to carry out the line of armed struggle put forward by Kim Il Sung.
An unveiling ceremony was held at the academy on November 9.
A wreath sent by General Secretary Kim Jong Il was laid before the statue amid the playing of the wreath-laying music.
Also placed there were wreaths and bouquets in the name of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces and the KPA military academies of different levels including Kim Chol Ju Artillery General Military Academy.
The participants stood in silent tribute to Kim Chol Ju.
KPA vice Marshal Jo Myong Rok, director of the general political department of the Korean People's Army, in his speech at the ceremony said that though Kim Chol Ju's life was short, it was a brilliant life of communist revolutionary fighter replete with intense loyalty to the leader and his cause, ardent love for the country and people, indomitable revolutionary spirit and strong will and revolutionary optimism.

Peace on Korean peninsula called for

Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article stresses the weighty importance of ensuring the peace on the Korean peninsula in the efforts to preserve the world peace.
The article notes that peace on the Korean peninsula presents itself as a very important issue in the preservation of the world peace because a "war on the Korean peninsula" may lead to a global war.
Attributing this to the important strategic position of the Korean peninsula, the article recalls that the Korean peninsula, which is a main gate of East Asia and lies among the major powers, has been a theatre of fierce confrontation among powers historically.
If a war breaks out in this region, the powers can not but join in the war in view of their strategic interests and their security needs.
Now that the Korean peninsula is exposed to the greatest danger of war in the world, to ensure peace there is the most important task for the world peace.
Neither system nor agreement exists on the Korean peninsula to prevent a war. The Armistice Agreement signed between the DPRK and the United States has become no more than a waste paper due to the betrayal of the United States.
The United States is now working hard to take a grip over the Korean peninsula to realize its strategy for world supremacy.
The Korean peninsula has become the first target of attack by the Japanese reactionaries who leave no stone unturned to achieve its wild design for overseas invasion.
Japan is fully ready to invade the Korean peninsula.
The South Korean ruling quarters are watching for a chance to attack the north to prolong their remaining days, zealously following the war policy of the U.S.
The ever closer military tie-up among the United States, Japan and the South Korean ruling quarters to provoke a new war on the Korean peninsula compels the DPRK to further increase its self-reliant defence power.
But for strong self-reliant defence power the DPRK would not have been able to defend its sovereignty and dignity.
The world peace can be ensured only by our gun of justice.

Japanese "order" to pro-Japanese element

Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- Pak Thae Jun, president of the "United Liberal Democrats," during his Japan visit was awarded an "order" from Japanese Prime Minister Obuchi on Nov. 5 for holding the post of "chairman of the South Korea-Japan Parliamentary Union" for the third time till now, a Seoul-based radio reported.
He graduated from Waseda University. No sooner had Park Chung Hee staged the May 16 military coup d'etat in 1961 than Pak Thae Jun became his "chief secretary" to be hell bent on pro-Japanese, pro-U.S. acts.
When the "people's government" appeared, he joined hands with another pro-Japanese element Kim Jong Pil, egging the "coalition government" and the present "National Assembly" on to pro-Japanese acts.

More facts about GIs' massacre disclosed

Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- The number of people killed by a U.S. air force bombing of Riri Railway Station, North Jolla Province, (Iksan Railway Station) on July 11, 1950 was not 50, but over 300, according to a report of a weekly magazine of South Korea "Hangyorye 21" October 28.
The report was based on testimonies of witnesses. The previous report which said 50 were killed and 300 wounded was based on information provided by the railway authorities at that time. This included only employees of the station, who fell victim to the bombing, leaving those ordinary civilian victims uncounted. "At that time, nearly 100 families lived around the Riri Railway Station and over half of them were killed by the bombing," said witnesses.
Meanwhile, the paper "Hangyorye" reported that there was increasing evidence showing the truth about the massacre committed by GIs in Rogun-ri during the Korean War. The paper noted that the names of those who had been considered to be killed in Rogun-ri are still registered as alive in the document of the town office of Yongdong county, North Chungchong Province, and those who survived the bombing at that time are undergoing sufferings as disabled.

Revision of labour law demanded

Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- The South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the Federation of South Korean Trade Unions strongly urged the authorities to revise the evil labour law at a joint symposium on the present conditions of the workers on November 5, a Seoul-based radio reported.
It was also attended by members of ruling and opposition parties. The two organizations, respectively clarifying their position, dismissed the existing "labour law" as one aimed to bar union activities and demanded the authorities revise the law and stabilize the workers' living by increasing job chances for them.

IMF's "relief fund" intended to destroy S. Korean economy

Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities claim that the "relief fund" given by the International Monetary Fund is helpful to "stability" of the economy and "settlement" of the crisis. Rodong Sinmun in a signed article dismisses this as a deceptive artifice to cover up the criminal nature of their sycophantic treacherous economic policy dependent on outside forces, the policy that put the South Korean economy on the verge of bankruptcy.
Under the "agreement on relief fund" between the IMF and South Korea economic share went into the hands of the IMF as it is allowed to interfere in and control the economy as a whole including South Korea's production, prices, current payment, financial scale, interest rate, industrial policy, financial restructuring, opening of financial market and introduction of "lay-off system," the article notes, and goes on:
The mandate of the IMF is, in essence, intended to intensify the U.S.'s colonial domination over South Korea and economic plunder of it.
Pointing out that the South Korean economy has gone bankrupt under the mandate of the IMF, the article says:
Under the mandate of the IMF the "government"-controlled economic system is on the verge of collapse and the artery of the South Korean economy barely supported by comprador capitalists and businessmen with the "special favour" from the "government" is feared to be cut.
And exchange rate and interest rate are on a steady rise while the currency value and the rate of real estate keep falling .
Business groups are going bankrupt en masse, hard hit by the market economy. Not a few enterprises belonging to 30 business groups proved to be insolvent and the debts of the Hyun Dai, Dae Woo, Sam Sung, L.G. and S.K. business groups increased 302 percent as of the end of June last. The Dae Woo group sold off most of its 41 affiliated businesses to foreign capital to tide over the financial difficulties.
The Korea First Bank and the Seoul Bank which used to issue more than half of the "government" loan were sold off owing to the "restructuring" of the IMF. Many other banks, Pohang Iron Works and other enterprises have gone into the hands of foreign monopoly capitalists.
The IMF's "relief fund" is nothing but capital and a bait to drain the South Korean economy of its last penny. That is just like poison to destroy the South Korean economy.
The only way out for the South Korean economy to survive is to stop depending on outside forces and achieve economic independence.

Provocative exercise for preemptive air strike

Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- The U.S. forces and the "ROK" army staged a provocative "air assault exercise" under the simulated conditions of a surprise preemptive attack against the rear of the north on Monday, according to a Seoul-based radio report.
Five "CH-47" planes of the U.S. forces and four attack helicopters including "Cobra" of the "ROK" army airlifted armed forces of the "Pongae" unit and war equipment to the operation area.
The South Korean warmongers said this drill was aimed at "quickly occupying important positions before others in an emergency."
This is an indication that the U.S. the South Korean ruling quarters are working hard to put the "operation plan 5027-98" into practice.

Provocative drill of transporting Japanese overseas

Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- The Japanese "Self-Defence Forces" reportedly staged a drill of "transporting Japanese overseas" by a warship of the Maritime "Self-Defence Force" at Sagami bay and Yokosuka port, Kanagawa Prefecture, on November 7.
This is the first of its kind since the adoption of the law on the revision of the "Self-Defence Forces law" in may which legalizes the dispatch overseas of the warships as well as planes of the "Self-Defence Forces." It is one of the "laws on the emergencies in the surrounding areas" for the implementation of the updated "Japan-U.S. Defence Cooperation Guidelines".
Tokyo Shimbun November 6 reported that the drill presupposed "SDF dispatch to the Korean peninsula."
