Challenge to growing anti-Japanese sentiment

Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) -- The South Korean "Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade" said that South Korea is "ready to welcome the Japanese 'Emperor' any time", answering the question as to the issue of his visit to South Korea in an interview with Japanese correspondents on November 8, according to a foreign news report from Seoul.
This is a challenge to the anti-Japanese sentiment growing stronger among the South Korean people.
A widespread movement to force the erstwhile pro-Japanese elements to pay for their crimes is under way among the South Korean people. One example is the compilation of a "biographical dictionary of pro-Japanese elements" pushed ahead by many intellectuals.
However, the "people's government", a group of pro-Japanese elements of modern brand, is at pains to invite the Japanese 'Emperor,' a symbol of militarist Japan, the sworn enemy of the Korean nation.

Charade of increasing "indemnity for death"

Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) -- The "people's government" of South Korea on Nov. 9 passed a proposal on doubling the "indemnity" for the "ROK" army soldiers who died while performing their "duties" in foreign countries, a Seoul-based radio reported.
The South Korean authorities sent "ROK" army soldiers to the Vietnamese War and the Gulf War as cannon fodder. This step was taken by them to formalize and justify their troop dispatch to East Timor.

Repatriation of unconverted long-term prisoners called for

Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) -- 8 Peruvian political parties including the Peruvian Communist Party and the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students released a joint statement on November 8 demanding the repatriation of the unconverted long-term prisoners in South Korea.
The statement scathingly condemned the South Korean authorities for brutally violating the rights of North Korean prisoners of war on the mere "charge" of refusing the "ideological conversion," terming it as an unpardonable unethical crime.
    The statement said:
We extend full support to the just demand of the Red Cross Society of the DPRK for the repatriation of unconverted long-term prisoners in South Korea to their hometowns.
We strongly demand the South Korean authorities take an immediate measure to repatriate before the end of the year all the unconverted long-term prisoners to their hometowns, where their families wait for them.
We also demand once again the immediate abolition of the anti-national and anti-reunification "security law" which totally blocks their return to the homeland.
The statement called upon the progressive governments, political parties, organizations, individual figures and all the human rights organizations of the world in struggle for the human rights and the democratization of the South Korean society to undertake a stronger movement for the humanitarian repatriation of unconverted long-term prisoners till the demand for their return home has been met.

Exploits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il praised

Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) -- More than 70 publications of at least 30 countries including Russia, Egypt, Laos and Thailand devoted over 80 special write-ups to the 2nd anniversary of the great leader Kim Jong Il's election as the of General secretary of the Worker's Party of Korea and the 54th anniversary of the WPK.
They carried portraits of President Kim Il Sung and Marshal Kim Jong Il, their celebrated works and articles on their greatness.
Highly praising Kim Il Sung as "the pioneer of the cause of building the party of Juche type," "father of humankind" and "veteran of world politics," the press stressed that he is the eternal leader of the Korean people.
The publications highly appreciated the immortal exploits Kim Jong Il has performed by strengthening and developing the WPK into an eternal party of Kim Il Sung, noting he is a "politician of Marshal type" and "experienced veteran statesman."
Unanimously holding that the political method of Kim Jong Il style in the 20th century will remain a perfect one in the 21st century, too, they stressed the socialist cause in Korea is sure to triumph as long as it is under the guidance of the WPK led by Kim Jong Il.
Newspapers of many countries including India, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Bulgaria and Norway were unanimous that the cause of the WPK will make a victorious advance under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.

Japan's wild design for overseas expansion

Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) -- Newspapers here today have come hard on Japan's dangerous moves.
Some time ago, Japan worked out a detailed plan for the "operation of rescuing" Japanese in an emergency on the Korean peninsula and staged the military drill of the "Self-Defense Forces" to put it into practice.
Expressing his hope that the diet would discuss the "law on emergencies" at its regular session expected in January next year, the chief executive of Japan underscored the need to adopt a law allowing the "SDF" to promptly handle the military crisis and disclosed his intention to take a legal measure to inspect ships in a bid to cope with the "emergency" on the Korean peninsula.
A signed commentary of Rodong Sinmun terms the Japanese reactionaries' moves as the outcome of their long-standing wild ambition for overseas expansion.
Japan seeks to stage a comeback to Korea and set out on the road of aggression against Asia by hurling its aggression forces into the Korean peninsula under the pretext of military "cooperation" and "support" to the U.S. if the U.S. provokes another war there, the commentary observes, and goes on:
All these developments in Japan presuppose a war on the Korean peninsula.
Japan's loudmouthed "emergency" will not be limited to the Korean peninsula.
Japan is mistaken if it thinks it will be safe in an "emergency" on the Korean peninsula.
The Japanese reactionaries will be the primary target of strike if they try to realize their wild ambition for overseas expansion at any cost under the pretext of military "cooperation" and "support" to the U.S.
Minju Joson in a signed commentary warns. If the Japanese reactionaries, defying repeated warnings of Korea, run wild to achieve their wild design for reinvasion, taking advantage of an "emergency" on the Korean peninsula, it will only lead them to self-destruction.
The only way out for Japan is to drop their daydream of reinvasion, properly liquidate its crime-woven past and turn over a new leaf, declares the commentary.

Abolition of "security law" called for

Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) -- More than 3,000 women from all walks of life reportedly approved a women's declaration for the abolition of "security law" unveiled by the "National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification."
The declaration noted that patriotic champions of reunification are arrested and inter-Korean reconciliation and cooperation and reunification blocked owing to the "security law," an evil law of the century.
It said that with the "law" left intact, it is impossible to achieve democracy and peaceful reunification. Women called for the repeal of the "law," aware that they are responsible for the destiny of the nation, it said.
It earnestly called for the abolition of the "security law" which defines the north, directly responsible for reunification, as an "anti-state organization" and which violates the north-south agreement and blocks the non-governmental movement for reunification.

Demobilized soldiers enrolled in correspondence course

Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) -- A correspondence course was given for the demobilized soldiers at the Taehongdan county integrated farm by lecturers from Hyesan University of Agriculture and Forestry.
Hundreds of discharged soldiers, now farmers, were enrolled in correspondence course.
On-the-spot lectures on agriculture, farming mechanics and stockbreeding were given in various parts of the integrated farm.
The lecturers made detailed arrangements for the farmer-students. They included in their teaching plans the topics to be taught exclusively on the alpine areas and tried to give the students a wide range of knowledge.
As part of the study-while-working system, the correspondence course provided the demobilized soldiers access to higher learning.

Foolish smear campaign

Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) -- Some time ago, some news media of South Korea reported that a circus of the DPRK would perform in Seoul in November. They are now taking issue with the Asia-Pacific Peace Committee of the DPRK, saying that the "Hyun Dai Business Group is obstructing possible performance in Seoul of the Pyongyang Circus and so it is likely to be performed in December.
Such false propaganda is a clumsy farce of some news media dancing to the tune of the South Korean authorities who have a bad habit of doing harm to others.
We have never discussed with any South Korean the performance in Seoul of our circus.
The South Korean authorities, derided and denounced at home and abroad for spreading groundless reports one after another, are now turning to anti-DPRK diatribe over the circus performance.
That is a foolish trick to advertise "effects" of the unjustifiable "engagement policy" and fool South Koreans.
The false propaganda is designed to use our popular circus for beautifying the "engagement policy" rejected by the South Korean people. It can not go down with anyone at all.
The South Korean authorities had better not to waste time engaging themselves in the anti-DPRK smear campaign when the year is drawing to its end.

Congressional report dismissed as exaggerated

Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) -- U.S. scientist David Albright, president of the Institute for Science and International Security, criticized a report released by a "North Korea advisory group" made up of nine republican members of the U.S. congress, according to Voice of America Nov. 6.
The group in the report said that the Clinton administration policy on North Korea has not worked, adding that "there is significant evidence that undetected nuclear weapons development activity continues" in North Korea "including efforts to acquire nuclear-related technologies" from the west.
In this regard David Albright said "the group of lawmakers was giving a hyped up account of the actual situation in North Korea" and "more balanced approach may have concluded the opposite."
The Voice of America echoed mixed reaction to the points raised in the report. As for the allegation in the report of an "undeclared North Korean nuclear weapons project", a U.S. official recalled that U.S. technical experts were granted access to a "suspect site" in North Korea and found no nuclear-related activity there.
