S. Korean rulers urged to halt moves for missile development
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The central committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea and the central committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League issued statements yesterday denouncing the South Korean authorities for secretly pushing ahead with the development of the long-range ballistic missile under the patronage of the U.S.
The South Korean authorities worked out a plan for the missile development long ago and have put spurs to its development and accelerated the development of long-range ballistic missile in secrecy on the plea of the north's launch of its satellite, the statements said, and continued:
This is an extremely adventurous arms buildup aimed at escalating the military confrontation between the north and south and bringing the situation in Korea to the brink of war.
The U.S. has connived at and encouraged the moves for ballistic missile development in South Korea under its domination while decrying the DPRK's launch of satellite for a peaceful purpose as a "missile launch" and "threat". Such double-dealing attitude of the U.S. betrays its unchangeable aggressive ambition to stifle the DPRK by force.
Demanding the South Korean authorities stop immediately their criminal ballistic missile development, the statements warned: If the U.S. and the South Korean authorities persist in those moves for a war of aggression, they will be held fully responsible for the ensuing dangerous consequences.
Head of DPRK delegation refers to country's farming
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The head of the DPRK delegation, addressing the 30th conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on November 16, said that the country's grain output is gradually increasing but it still needs international assistance because the food situation remains difficult.
The Korean people are now striving hard to develop agriculture full of faith and optimism even under the unfavorable situation where not a few consequences of the natural disaster remain and abnormal weather persists, he noted, and continued:
The grain output for this year is estimated to be slightly bigger than last year thanks to the correct policy and strenuous efforts of the government, but it is too insufficient to meet the nation's demand for grain.
Touching on the importance of the role of the FAO, he underscored the need for the organization to pay primary attention to the improvement of agriculture in the developing countries and strengthen technological cooperation to those countries and called on all the countries to increase donation and aid for the development of agriculture in the developing countries.
Karachi Self-reliance Study Society of Pakistan formed
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The Karachi Self-reliance Study Society of Pakistan was formed on Nov. 8.
In a report made at the inaugural meeting professor Akrak Aktar Hamidi said that self-reliance is the only way of building an independent and prosperous Pakistan and the experience of the DPRK shows self-reliance alone can make it possible to achieve independence in politics, self-sufficiency in economy and self-reliance in defence.
Akrak Aktar Hamidi was elected chairman of the society.
A letter to General Secretary Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.
A resolution adopted at the first meeting of the society underlined the need to earnestly study and disseminate the Juche idea to build a new free and prosperous Pakistan.
We will significantly commemorate the birthday of the President Kim Il Sung as the Sun's Day and celebrate the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il as the most auspicious international holiday of the people for independence and a grand festival of the Juche idea followers all over the world, the resolution said.
KCNA on magazine's article meant to disturb Mt. Kumgang tour
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The South Korean monthly magazine Shin Dong-a, in its November edition, carried an article "people of Mt. Kumgang" pouring cold water on the tour of Mt. Kumgang and extremely provoking the north.
Its writer who professes to be a "scholar in politics", in the article, mocked at our people, saying that North Koreans may change their mind or "it will be full of confusion" when contacting tourists.
He went the length of letting loose an absurd piffle that North Koreans would "be shocked by the appearance" of South Koreans.
This can not but arouse unanimous hatred and denunciation of our people as it is very serious anti-national utterance aimed to foil the tour of Mt. Kumgang now under way as part of the non-governmental cooperation and bar inter-Korean reconciliation and reunification.
The gravity of the article lies in that it represents the foolish attempt of the South Korean authorities to destabilize the north by imbuing our people with the corrupt almighty-dollar principle through the tour of Mt. Kumgang and sending the wind of "liberalization" to it.
As already known, the DPRK took such a patriotic step as allowing South Korean people to tour Mt. Kumgang, taking into consideration their strong desire to see the famous mountain of the nation, which is also the pride of the world, in order to meet the request of the South Korean Hyundai Business Group.
But the South Korean authorities, interfering in the tourism from its start, have worked hard to misuse it as a "channel" for serving their sinister purpose of transforming our people's ideological and mental state and destroying our system.
The writer's foolish rhetoric suggests that he is either an operative or agent of the South Korean "Intelligence Service".
His nonsensical article is, in essence, not different from what Min Yong Mi uttered in a foolish attempt to make our man "defect to the south."
The South Korean "Intelligence Service" did not bother to orchestrate the "second Min Yong Mi script" through the magazine shin dong-a after it failed in the "Min Yong Mi operation."
Now that the South Korean authorities are resorting to every conceivable means and method to misuse the tour of Mt. Kumgang to create confusion in the mind of our people, we feel the strong need to take correspondent measures to cope with this move.
The South Korean authorities will be fully accountable for all the consequences to be entailed by the serious developments.
U.S. war strategy worked out
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The U.S. has mapped out a war strategy to promptly hurl emergency forces into Korea in a "crisis" on the Korean peninsula, according to a radio report from Seoul.
The U.S. pacific command is planning to rush planes including fighters within 13 hours and a carrier flotilla within 14 days to the Korean peninsula in a "crisis on the Korean peninsula."
It has also an "emergency measure" to ship equipment for a ground force brigade such as tanks to the Korean peninsula in 10 days.
This clearly indicates that the U.S.has rounded off preparations to invade the north and their aggressor forces are fully ready to rush to Korea any time.
Japan's missile development assailed
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary blasts Japan for getting frantic in the missile development.
Japan failed in launching the rocket "H-2" carrying multi-purpose satellite recently and this once again laid bare its black-hearted design, the commentary says, and goes on:
When the DPRK launched a satellite last year, Japan kicked off a frantic anti-DPRK campaign, asserting it was a "missile launch" and it was an open "threat" to Japan as Pyongyang did not make an "advance notice" to Tokyo.
Japan has given us no advance notice as regards its recent missile launch. This is the height of shamelessness peculiar to Japan.
The Japanese reactionaries' claim that the DPRK's launch of satellite was a "missile" launch and a "threat" to Japan is aimed at stepping up its moves to become a military power and arm itself with nuclear weapons in real earnest under the pretext of this "threat."
The Japanese reactionaries are well advised not to forget the saying "curses, like chickens, come home to roost."
Repeal of "security law" demanded
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The Committee of Measures for the Repeal of the "Security Law" in South Korea issued a statement on Monday as regards the movement for the repeal of the "security law" now mounting in different parts of South Korea.
The "National Professor Council for Democracy" in a statement and at a press conference condemned the "security law" for defining the north as "anti-state organization" and blocking the peaceful reunification of the country. The "security law" should be abolished as it is an anachronistic law against democracy, the council noted.
The South Korean Federation of University Student Councils, the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification and other civic organizations are carrying on struggles of various forms for the abrogation of the "security law".
This is a manifestation of the unanimous aspiration and will of the South Korean people to see before the end of the year the total repeal of the "security law", the anti-reunification, fascist and murderous law which has committed so many crimes against the nation for half a century, not "revision", and to bring in a new phase of national reconciliation and unity, the statement said, and went on:
The abrogation of the "security law" is the most urgent national task.
The nation can never greet a new millennium as long as the "security law" that has done such enormous harm to it remains in South Korea.
The South Korean people from all walks of life should hold higher the banner of the struggle for the abrogation of the evil law and further intensify the mass struggle to get the "security law" abrogated unconditionally this year.
U.S. to blame for Jeju "April 3 incident"
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The Jeju April 3 Institute of South Korea held that the U.S. government is to blame for the "April 3 incident," according to a radio report from Seoul.
The "April 3 incident" is the massacre of at least 70,000 demonstrators committed by the South Korean authorities at the instigation of the U.S. on April 3, 1948 when people on Jeju Island rose in a popular uprising against Syngman Rhee's treacherous May 10 separate "election".
The institute, asserting that the U.S. intentionally sparked the incident, threatened to lodge a lawsuit against the U.S. government to probe the truth about the incident.
Development of national language in DPRK
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The national language is in full bloom in the DPRK.
Today the purity of the Korean language is firmly preserved in keeping with the demand and desire of the times and people.
It was possible only thanks to the President Kim Il Sung who embodied the Juche idea in the linguistic field and indicated a correct way of developing the Korean language.
He made it clear that the basic orientation for the development of the Korean language was to set right the spoken and written Korean languages that had been badly affected by flunkeyism and dogmatism in the past, establish the Juche character in the language and promote its national character with a main emphasis on words of our own language.
He instructed not to use foreign and Chinese words in the Korean language but to make an effective use of our own language and coin and use new words in conformity with the developing reality.
This served as an important guideline for the development of the Korean language.
Underscoring the need to pave the way for the development of the Korean language to properly preserve the national character of the Korean language and develop it from a stand Juche, he saw to it that the revolutionary language of Pyongyang was made the cultured language with Pyongyang, the capital of revolution, as the center.
Hence, the DPRK has taken state measures for the development of the national language.
A variety of dictionaries of our own language including Korean dictionary, modern Korean dictionary and large Korean dictionary came off the press in large volumes and have steadily been updated.
Education and art activities in the educational and cultural and art institutions are based on our own language.
The linguistic institute of the Academy of Social Sciences, the National Language Assessing Commission and other language institutions were established for the development of the language.
A large number of language specialists are trained at the Korean linguistic faculty of Kim Il Sung University and universities of education.
A drive is also under way to check the imperialists' ideological and cultural poisoning and establish a sound and revolutionary consciousness and way of speaking and writing.
The President also established a revolutionary and popular way of speaking and writing and set an example of it.
The names of the places in our own words including "Phungodong", "Kumsan" and "Donsan" were given by the President.
The national language in the DPRK is now being further developed to be the most beautiful and perfect language in the world under the meticulous care of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
U.S. should be forced to pay for blood shed by Koreans
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- It is only too natural that the central committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland in its letter sent to the reunification movement organizations in South Korea and overseas on November 20 called for forming a north, south and overseas joint fact-finding group to thoroughly probe GIs' massacres of peaceable civilians during the past Korean War and urged the nation to force the U.S. to pay for the blood shed by them a thousand times, says Minju Joson today in a commentary.
The commentary continues:
The U.S. and the South Korean authorities are talking about an "investigation." But it is nothing but a trick to mislead the public opinion. This is clearly evidenced by their deliberate procrastination over the investigation into the massacre in Rogun-ri.
The U.S. is now lending a deaf ear to the proposal of the South Korean authorities for a joint investigation, while the South Korean authorities are keen on calming down the anti-U.S. spirit of the South Korean people under the pretext of "friendly relations" with the U.S.
Under this situation it is hardly possible to expect a probe into the truth about GIs' massacre from the U.S. and the South Korean authorities. It is as foolish an act as entrusting an investigation to the killer and his stooge who try to remove the clue to their crimes, the paper notes, and continues:
Only when the joint fact-finding group is organized, can the nation thoroughly probe massacres of innocent civilians committed by the U.S. in the north and south and foil the tricks of the U.S. and their stooges to mislead the public opinion.
We can never hand down to posterity the distorted history in which the U.S. brutes brutally killed Koreans and have hidden the truth about their crimes.
We should thoroughly probe the truth about GIs' massacres of Koreans and make them pay for the blood shed by them in our generation without fail.
Neoselen - antiphlogistic and analgesic
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- A new antiphlogistic and analgesic medicine Neoselen was made in the DPRK for the first time recently.
According to information available from a researcher of Pyongyang University of Medicine Yu Sun Chol, the medicine was designed on the basis of the theoretical study of the restraint course of Cyclo-Oxygenase, common influence of the Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs, with the help of a computer.
The medicine is new organic selenium of which synthesis is simple and its high pharmacological activation is expected.
Yu Sun Chol proved objectivity of the design through pharmacological experiments and clinical examinations and completed standardization of medicines by new substance, the first of its kind in the DPRK.
Neoselen's pharmacological activation is 30-100 times that of aspirin and over 3-10 times Indometacin or Piroxicam well known to the world. Its efficacy is 25 times that of aspirin and 2.5 times Indometacin.
This medicine can be taken for a long time as it has no side effect such as stomach trouble commonly caused by the existing medicines and is very less toxic.
This is good for the treatment of various inflammation diseases such as rheumatic arthritis, toothache and other aches, fever and so on.
Simple in its manufacturing process and high in its actual extraction rate, this medicine can be made not only at large pharmaceutical factories but at minor ones and hospitals.
