Kim Jong Il inspects fish farm
Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited a fish farm newly built by KPA unit no. 583 on Sunday.
He was accompanied by member of the DPRK National Defence Commission Yon Hyong Muk, secretary of the WPK Central Committee Kim Ki Nam, KPA generals Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and first vice department directors of the WPK Central Committee Pak Song Bong, Jang Song Thaek and Choe Chun Hwang.
The unit's soldiers had built a large fish farm by reclaiming some tideland on the west coast that had been neglected for a long time.
They demonstrated the might of the revolutionary soldier spirit again by successfully finishing the vast project with their own efforts in 40 days though the project included disposal of 150,000 cubic metres of earth, construction of some 10 kilometers of dykes and laying of about 5,000 metres of water channels.
He looked round the fish farm and fish ponds built on the quiet tideland in place of reed marsh as a symbol of the great spirit of creation and change in the building of a powerful nation and learned about how the fish farm had been built and how fish culture was done.
Looking at the neatly built fish farm, he expressed great satisfaction and thanked soldiers for having turned a barren field into a useful area in the revolutionary soldier spirit and successfully finished the vast nature-harnessing project in a little more than a month though it would usually have taken some years.
He said that thanks to the devoted efforts of soldiers, another modern fish farm has taken place on the west coast in a short span of time. This miraculous success can be made only by the heroic Korean People's Army, which removes a mountain and fills in the sea once instructed by the party, he added, highly appreciating their feats.
After inspecting the fish farm, he put forward important tasks to further develop the nation's fish culture.
He noted that these years witnessed the appearance of more fish farms suited to topographical conditions in different parts of the country and unprecedented innovation in the production of fresh-water fishes by making most use of the fish farms. This shows the enthusiasm of the army and people of Korea who have risen up in hearty response to the party's call for activating fish culture through a mass movement, he said.
He said Korea has good prospects as it has very favorable geographical conditions for the culture of various kinds of fresh-water fishes and a firm material and technical foundation for radical development of fish culture has been laid. He called for putting great effort into fish culture continuously and effecting a fresh change in this work.
In order to rapidly increase the production of fresh-water fishes, fishes should be grown wherever there is water through the combination of intensive method and natural feed method, he said.
He called for generalizing the experience of the unit's soldiers in building a modern fish farm of scores of hectares with local materials.
The most important thing in prospective development of fish culture is to enhance the level, he said, calling for intensifying scientific research into fish culture, introducing advanced methods and steadily increasing the production of fishes.
Fish culture is an important undertaking to supply more quantities of fishes to the soldiers and the people, he noted, urging the officials to pay attention to this work at all times and keep organisation work with the trend of the development of fish culture.

Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- A symposium on the famous work of General Secretary Kim Jong Il "Socialism Is a Science" was held in London on November 29.
Speeches were made there.
The general secretary of the New Communist Party of Great Britain said that the work is a historic work which proved in a most scientific manner the reason for the collapse of socialism in different countries and historical inevitability of the triumph of socialism on the basis of practical experience of the Korean revolution.
Kim Jong Il in his work propounded from a new angle the perfect revolutionary theory on socialism, the theory on working class party building, in particular, on the basis of his protracted ideological and theoretical activities and practical experience of the Korean revolution, he said.
The international secretary of the New Communist Party of Netherlands said that the work gives firm confidence and encouragement to those who are weak in faith in socialism.
We, he noted, will deepen the study and dissemination of the work in the party.
Saying that the leader, the party and the masses are rallied as one in Korea, a spokesman for the c.c., the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain (Marxist-Leninist) stressed that it is a sacred duty of the communists in all countries to defend socialism in Korea today.

KCNA blasts warmonger for inciting confrontation within nation
Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- South Korean "Defence Minister" Jo Song Thae reportedly told a "meeting of major commanding officers of the armed forces" that the north might create tensions intentionally and that military preparedness against threat from the north should be readjusted.
This revealed the reckless intention of the South Korean warmongers to invade the north and secure a firm military upper-hand over the north.
History shows that the warmongers used every opportunity to cry over "threat from the north" and "provocation" but it was they who made threat and provocations.
On the Korean peninsula where the situation remains complicated and unstable, every day witnesses war discussions and military maneuvers to execute "operation plan 5027-98."
On the orders of their master, the South Korean bellicose elements leave no stone unturned to round off preparations for a preemptive attack on the north.
They have already established a military alliance among the United States, Japan and South Korea. What they need now is field exercise and an excuse for unleashing war against the north.
They continuously talk about "provocation by the north" in a bid to conceal their bellicose nature and mislead world opinion.
Jo Song Thae called for building up elite forces fully ready to carry out combat tasks, saying that the north might make an overall provocation if it misjudges the situation.
Nothing but aggravation of inter-Korean confrontation can be expected from Jo Song Thae, a heinous warmonger and traitor.
The Korean nation will never pardon the bellicose element who incites antagonism and confrontation within the nation and seeks war, going against the desire of the nation and demand of the time.
Achievements in film production
Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- Many films have been produced in Korea this year, greatly encouraging the Koreans to build a powerful nation.
The Korean film studio and the April 25 Film Studio of the Korean People's Army produced the multi-part feature films "The Forest Sways" (parts 7-11) and "The Nation and Destiny" (Choe Hyon's parts 1-3) as masterpieces of the time that vividly represented the noble ideological and mental world of forerunners who defended their leader even at the cost of life.
Tens of feature films include the films based on revolutionary traditions such as "Lifeline" and "Love the Future" about anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters who devotedly fought for the revolution with confidence in victory and the films on socialist realities such as "We Live Here" and "Hot-blooded Man."
There are also TV feature films such as "Man of the Nation" (parts 1-12) about world pro-wrestling champion Kim Sin Rak (Rikidoozan) and "Girl Judoist" (parts 1-4) about Kye Sun Hui, a comet in judo circles of the world.

"Bill on setting up defence ministry" of Japan
Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary denounces the Japanese reactionaries for trying to present a "bill on setting up Defence Ministry" to the diet to elevate the status of Defence Agency to the "Ministry of Defence" and reorganize the "Self-Defence Forces" into armed forces.
The commentary says:
Japan enacts or rewrites any law if necessary for overseas invasion. Such laws as the "law on emergencies in surrounding areas" called war law, law on "Hinomaru and Kimigayo," "law on wiretapping" and "emergency law" aimed to fascistize the society and establish a war system are all to serve the purpose of overseas aggression. The move to elevate the status of the Defence Agency to the ministry is also part of them.
Japan, a war criminal and defeated country, is making desperate efforts to become an "ordinary country." The promotion of the status of the Defence Agency to the ministry would make a breakthrough in becoming an "ordinary country."
Meanwhile, the Japanese reactionaries are escalating military exercises for overseas invasion in real earnest.
All this goes to prove that they are working round the clock to achieve at any cost the old dream of "Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere," which they failed to realize in the past. They are well advised to drop this daydream.
U.S.'s massacres condemned
Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- Yang Yong Dong, chairman of the General Association of Koreans in China, released a statement on November 25 in connection with the continued disclosure of brutal atrocities committed by the U.S. against the Korean people during the past Korean War.
Noting that the U.S. is the Korean people's sworn enemy who has stretched out its tentacles of aggression to Korea from long ago, the statement condemned them for starting the war of aggression in Korea and committing barbarous massacres.
He stressed that the association and all the Koreans in China will actively join in a nation-wide struggle to thoroughly probe into massacres committed by the U.S. aggressors in Korea and disclose the truth about them before the nation and world people by organizing a joint fact-finding group with the compatriots in the north, south and overseas and thus make them pay for the blood shed by the compatriots.
