Missile battalion of ROK army organized
Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- It was disclosed that the South Korean warmongers organized a new missile battalion in the ROK army at the end of last year, according to a radio report from Seoul.
The deployed missile battalion has 27 launching pads, each worth 5.7 billion won, rocket shells and missiles.
The chief executive hurled this battalion into the large-caliber multiple rocket firing exercise staged in the central sector of the front on March 10 so that it might have its first firing drill.
This once again laid bare his true colors as a separatist keen on arms buildup and war.
Struggle for repatriation of unconverted long-term prisoners
Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- The DPRK Measure Committee for the Rescue of Unconverted Long-Term Prisoners in South Korea sent a letter to the South Korean Committee for the Promotion of Unconverted Long-Term Prisoners' Repatriation on Saturday calling for its positive efforts for an earlier repatriation of those prisoners to the North Korea.
In the letter the DPRK measure committee, on behalf of all the people in North Korea, expressed full support to the just struggle of the South Korean promotion committee who are making all efforts for an early repatriation of unconverted long-term prisoners to the north.
The letter said:
The repatriation of unconverted long-term prisoners in South Korea is an urgent problem which brooks no further delay in view of the situation of them suffering misfortune and pain as well as in view of humanitarianism and international law.
We express the belief that your organization will activate the efforts for their repatriation in the future, too. And we strongly call upon you to set a common goal, which is to realize the repatriation of Kim In So, Ham Se Hwan, Kim Yong Thae and other unconverted long-term prisoners who were taken prisoner during the last Korean War, before late June this year and return of all other unconverted long-term prisoners who want to go to the DPRK, until the 55th anniversary of Korea's liberation from the Japanese imperialists' rule, and work hard together with us to this end.
Multiple rocket launching drill
Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities staged a drill of operating large-caliber multiple launch rocket system in the central sector of the front on Friday with participation of officials concerned of the U.S. military in South Korea and officials of the South Korean Defence Ministry, a radio report from Seoul said.
Involved in the drill were Pukjin and Sonbong artillery units of the South Korean army.
The authorities were buoyed by the fever of war against the north, saying that all processes of this system from target-detecting and launching are automated to reduce targets to ashes.
S. Korean political parties at loggerheads
Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- The United Liberal Democrats, which seceded from the ruling coalition after the dispute over the parliamentary cabinet system, and the ruling democratic party of South Korea made a fierce showdown with each other on March 7, a radio report from Seoul said.
That day Kim Jong Pil criticized the DP for having reneged on its promise on parliamentary cabinet system and said, the 'uld' will not cooperate with the ruler even after the election.
Branding the Presidential system of South Korea as an irresponsible system that stands above the law, he said that constitutional amendment is needed to remove confrontation between ins and outs.
Meanwhile, ri in je, chairman of the election measure committee of the DP, refuted Kim's argument as nonsense.
He said DP should be turned into nationwide political party so as to maintain the Presidential system.
The present antagonism between the ruler and Kim Jong Pil, who joined hands on the promise on parliamentary cabinet system but now become rivals, betrays ugly colors of those with greed for power.
U.S. projected missile defense system will only invite isolation and destruction
Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson today describes the U.S. as the enemy of peace and a source of war of aggression.
The news analyst says:
The U.S. plans to make a formal decision on deploying a missile defense system in the near future. It is aimed at getting strategic upper hand in different parts of the world under the pretext of missile defense and, furthermore, establishing military domination over the world.
Despite strong precautions of many countries around the world the U.S. is trying to establish the missile defense system at any cost under the pretext of the threat from the DPRK.
It is not the U.S. but the DPRK that is exposed to nuclear and missile threat.
The U.S. has deployed many nuclear weapons and missiles in South Korea, Japan and around the Korean peninsula to pose permanent threat to the DPRK. While continuously delivering latest missiles to the South Korean authorities, the U.S. is going to allow them to produce long-range missiles.
To move toward disarmament and peace is the trend of the times and demand of humankind. If the U.S. persists in arms buildup, aggression and war preparations, ignoring them, it will find itself isolated and meet a destruction.
U.S. sanctions, crimes against humanity
Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- The U.S. authorities let no chance pass by without talking about humanitarianism, styling themselves as champions of humanitarianism in the world.
Rodong Sinmun today runs an article in this regard.
The paper says:
In mid-February the U.S. extended sanctions imposed upon Sudan even to oil companies of other countries that had contracts with this country, claiming that the government of Sudan spends income from oil sale for the civil war.
Recently the U.S. senate adopted a bill to the effect that if Russia offers Iran missile technology and materials that can be used for the development of weapons of mass destruction sanctions will be imposed upon Russia, on the plea of saving humankind from those weapons.
The U.S. claims that the sanctions against Iraq are aimed at preventing the country from manufacturing weapons of mass destruction and that sanctions against Cuba are designed to lead the Cuban government to respect humanitarianism and take the road of democracy.
The U.S. sanctions are, in essence, crimes against ethics and humanitarianism, which inflict misfortune and pain upon the people.
About 1.27 million people were killed in Iraq after the U.S. put sanctions on it in 1990.
The people of Sudan plagued with disputes are suffering manifold pain and disaster due to the U.S. sanctions.
Many congressmen admit that U.S. sanctions are criminal acts.
If the crimes of the U.S. are allowed any longer, humankind cannot achieve equality and happiness any time, but may lose dignity and value forever. The world people should, thereafter, resolutely stand up against the U.S. sanctions.
Japan's attempt to act spokesman for Asia
Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- The Japanese authorities have come in for strong criticism by a signed commentary of Rodong Sinmun today for their attempt to act a spokesman for Asia.
The Japanese authorities are now getting busy, saying that they will reflect the voices of Asia and discuss ways of settling regional disputes at the summit of the group of 8 nations slated for the end of July, the commentary says, and goes on:
Nobody has asked Japan to play the role of a spokesman for Asia and it is not qualified for that role.
Japan has not yet shaken off the ill-fame of an enemy state and is no more than a political dwarf which only follows the United States in the international arena. Even the South Korean ruling quarters, the authorities of the United States, look down upon Japan and treat it as their servant.
It is, therefore, a height of folly for Japan to attempt to act a spokesman for Asia.
If Japan wants to play such a role, it should honestly apologize and compensate for its past crimes, first of all, and thus get the trust from the international community.
Lurking behind Japan's effort to be a spokesman for Asia is a sinister intention to become a leader of Asia.
But this is a day dream.
The Asian countries are cautious against Japan which is whetting a sword for aggression under the signboards of peace and cooperation.
Japan had better drop its pipe dream and fulfil its commitments.
Only then can it escape from people's hatred and act fair and square.
