Revolutionary battle sites in area of Mt. Paektu

Over ten secret camps have been restored to the status quo on Mt. Paektu, Saja Hill, Mt. Kom, Mt. Kanbaek and so on.
The secret camp on Mt. Paektu was a revolutionary fortress where the main force of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army was active in the latter half of the 1930s and the first half of the 1940s and a guiding center of the Korean revolution.
There the President Kim Il Sung made preparations for party founding and conducted activities for strengthening the internal forces of revolution and ushering in a great event of the country's liberation.
In the camp is the native home where General Secretary Kim Jong Il was born on February 16, Juche 31 (1942).
He grew up there, hearing the gun report of the great anti-Japanese war.
Jong Il Peak, 1,798 meters high, stands by the native home.
Not far from the secret camp on Mt. Paektu is the Sajabong secret camp where the President dispatched small units or received political workers and local revolutionaries and guided meetings.

Kanggye spirit calls for uninterrupted advance in socialist construction
Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- The Korean people are now turning out as one in the struggle to build a powerful nation in the Kanggye spirit created under the wise guidance of General Secretary Kim Jong Il, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
The Kanggye spirit is the militant spirit the people of Kanggye created by setting an example in self-reliance despite difficulties during the "arduous march."
This spirit calls for most steadfastly defending socialism and bringing about uninterrupted advance in socialist construction, overcoming difficulties and trials.
This spirit has gripped the hearts of the popular masses and displayed tremendous attractive power, the article says, and goes on:
The people of Jagang Province created the Kanggye spirit by setting an example in self-reliance despite the imperialists' continued desperate maneuvers to isolate and stifle the DPRK. This spirit fully proves that a people who have risen up, believing in their own strength, never yield to difficulties. It is a precious truth taught by the people in Jagang Province that if a people struggles believing in their own strength they never wavers before difficulties but creates something out of nothing.
This spirit also proves that a people possessed of do-or-die fighting spirit can carry out any difficult tasks on their own efforts and only a people with a firm will can steadily advance, surmounting all hardships.
The people in Jagang Province are unanimous that everything goes well when they do as taught by Kim Jong Il and nothing is insurmountable only if they have the spirit of carrying out the tasks given by the WPK unconditionally under any circumstances. It is the truth they have learned in practice.

Vital rights demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- A mass rally against neo-liberalism and for vital rights was held in Seoul on Apr. 1 with the attendance of at least 6,000 representatives of 30 organizations including the South Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the "National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification" and the "National Federation of Peasants Associations."
The representatives requested the "government" not to sign an agreement on investment with the U.S. and Japan but reduce peasants' debts drastically.
They in a resolution declared they would defend their vital rights through the anti-"government" struggle to check the second-phase restructuring after the "national assembly election."
After the rally they launched a street march.
"Suspected kidnapping" refuted
Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- Representatives of the Niigata prefectural people's council for the promotion of the establishment of Japan-DPRK diplomatic relations visited the prefectural police authority on March 24 and asserted that the "suspected kidnapping by North Korea" was unreasonable.
Recalling that a girl who had been known to be missing for ten years was found in the prefecture in January, they strongly urged the police to stop describing the missing case as a "kidnapping case by North Korea" without evidence.
They called a press conference at which they said that the discovery of the missing girl gave a great shock and called for drawing a lesson from it and stopping talk about "suspected kidnapping."
Kim Il Sung praised as model people's leader
Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- Anand Sharma, editor-in-chief of the Indian paper Bharat Dam, in a statement issued on March 27 on the occasion of Sun's Day, the birth anniversary of the President Kim Il Sung, said that Kim Il Sung is praised as a great man of the century for his immortal exploits made on behalf of the times and humankind.
The President firmly defended Korean-style socialism under the complicate circumstances in which socialism was collapsed in different countries and the anti-socialist campaign was unprecedentedly intensified, she said, and went on:
"Believe in the people as in heaven" was the life-long maxim of the President and he devoted his all to the people, declining rest in his 80-year-long life.
The President is a model people's leader, she stressed.
U.S. skepticism over DPRK-U.S. agreed framework
Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- The U.S. conservative hard-liners are talking nonsense casting doubt about the DPRK measure of freezing its nuclear facilities and calling for "verification devices" for all its nuclear activities after the recent conclusion of the DPRK-U.S. talks in New York.
There is no reason for the U.S. to be skeptical over the DPRK measure. No sooner had the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework been released than the DPRK took the step of stopping the development of its independent nuclear power industry from a sincere stand to solve the "nuclear issue" on the Korean peninsula and this remains unchanged up to now.
It is proved by the acute shortage of electricity in the DPRK in recent years. This is attributable to its failure to push ahead with its own nuclear power industry.
It is not difficult to guess the real aim sought by the U.S. in feverishly spreading the rumour about "nuclear suspicion," still remaining skeptical over the DPRK measure of nuclear freezing.
It is nothing but a U.S. foolish design to evade the responsibility for its failure to fulfil its commitments under the agreed framework under the pretext of the DPRK's "nuclear suspicion."
The U.S. has dragged out the LWR project and nowadays it claims that the project is expected to be completed beyond 2007. This assertion suggests that it is hard to tell when the project is expected to be completed and it may end in smoke.
It has not properly fulfilled its commitment to provide the DPRK with heavy oil, creating difficulties and confusion in the DPRK's economic performance. It is overshadowing the prospect of the agreed framework.
Refusing to mind their own business, the U.S. conservative hard-liners are crying that it is essential to make "verification devices" for all nuclear activities of the DPRK. This is an intolerable act as it is the height of moral vulgarity.
This, in fact, is an expression of their abhorrence and doubt about the agreed framework and a criminal move to scrap its provisions one after another in the future.
An "amendment" to the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework precisely means its abrogation.
If the U.S. tries to "amend" the agreed framework, skeptical over the DPRK measure of nuclear freezing and the agreed framework itself, instead of sincerely implementing it, the agreed framework will be bound to be abrogated.
Japan should be forced to stand international trial
Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary deals with the international tribunal's recent start of trial of rape cases in several countries.
The commentary says:
Japan is the first to be judged by the international tribunal. Many wars are recorded in human history, but there is no precedent of Japan's abduction of women in the occupied countries, including nearly 200,000 Korean women, to reduce them to sex slaves for its army.
The crimes related to "comfort women for army" should have already been brought to the international tribunal as they were an organized group rape and hideous crimes against humanity.
But Japan has not yet been forced to stand trial at the international tribunal.
Japan is so crafty as to try to hush up these crimes with a petty amount of money.
These crimes can never be settled in that way.
Former "comfort women for army" say they cannot die before making the Japanese government apologize and compensate for the Japanese imperialist brutes' outrages.
The Japanese authorities should not turn deaf ears to this strong demand, if they are human beings.
The crimes related to "comfort women for army" were ordered by the then Japanese government and committed by its military.
Therefore, the Japanese government can never escape from its responsibility for the crimes.
The international community should force Japan to stand an international trial.
Trend of development of history can never be stemmed
Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- Despite many turns and twists in the course of the advance of history the trend of its development can never be stemmed, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
The article goes on:
The main trend of the development of history can never be stemmed as the social attributes of human beings can never change.
It is an attribute of an independent human being to live and develop independently.
It is the ideal of humankind based on it to enjoy an equal happy life in a free and peaceful world free from domination, subjugation, aggression and war. Therefore, it is the main trend of the development of history for them to head for such a new world.
The old order of domination and subjugation which tramples down independence of people is rejected everywhere in the world as a leftover of the old times.
History is advancing along the road of independence.
Sudden and abnormal things happening in the world are the temporary phenomena which humankind faces in the course of advance toward a new independent world.
The collapse of socialism in a number of countries does not mean victory of the old over the new but a total bankruptcy of opportunism whose true colors as a counter-revolutionary ideological trend were brought to light and condemned in the international communist movement already long ago.
But opportunism disguised as "modern social democracy" has been advocated as something new in some countries for many years. Socialism thus got damaged and degenerated and ended in collapse.
History is bound to forge ahead. The master of the world is popular masses and they are advancing the history.
History advances and develops thanks to their creative efforts according to their independent demands.
Grim reality of S. Korea deplored
Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- The South Korean newspaper Hangyore deplored the miserable situation of South Korea subject to the U.S.
Referring to the crimes committed by the U.S. in South Korea, the paper said:
The U.S. Imperialists unhesitatingly killed innocent South Korean civilians in the 1950s and sprayed defoliant in the area south of the Military Demarcation Line in the 1960s, not informing South Korea of its danger.
They assisted the dictatorial "governments" in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s and arrogantly forced them to increase the funds for the upkeep of the U.S. troops in South Korea.
The life and health of the people are exposed to grave threat because of the U.S. military bases. The bases are extraterritorial for the U.S. troops and a lawless zone.
