Kim Il Sung, great revolutionary

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- Vice-Minister of Public Works and Urban Affairs of Angola Antonio Goma, who is heading the Angolan government delegation, in an interview with the KCNA here highly praised the President Kim Il Sung.
The DPRK is in high spirit and well organized.
Kim Il Sung brought up the Korean people to be a revolutionary people, he said, and continued:
Seeing orders and medals given to Kim Il Sung from different countries at the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, I more deeply realized that he, founder of socialist Korea, was the great revolutionary and the great leader.
Kim Il Sung was the great man with the noblest sense of comradely fidelity. Thanks to his noble sense of moral obligation the spirit of the revolutionary martyrs is alive in the hearts of the Korean people.

I'm convinced of future of DPRK to be powerful and prosperous

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- Shiro Nakamura, chairman of the Amakasaki City Dietmen's League for the Promotion of Japan-Korea Friendship who visited the DPRK, said in an interview yesterday before his return home that the bright and joyful looks of the Korean people convinced him of the future of the DPRK to be powerful and prosperous.
    He said:
Inspection of the Korean Revolution Museum made me know well that Japan was the very one that helped divide Korea into the north and south.
Japan is to blame for the division of the nation, the misfortune of the Korean people.
I have come to pay attention to the Korean issue because I, as one of the Japanese people, consider that Japan should feel responsibility for the past crimes against the Korean people.

Seminars on Kim Jong Il's work in different countries

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- Seminars on General Secretary Kim Jong Il's famous work "Improving the Layout of the Fields Is a Great Transformation of Nature For the Prosperity of the Country, a Patriotic Work of Lasting Significance" took place in Czech and Nigeria on April 28.
The chairman of the Czech Group for the Study and Embodiment of the Juche Idea said that the work published by Kim Jong Il was of historic significance in invariably strengthening and developing people-centred Korean-style socialism.
To rezone the land of the whole country and produce stable yield every year is a strategic task to heal flood damage at an early date and supply sufficient food and a sacred work to free the farmers from hard labour, he said.
The chairman of the Mt. Paektu Czech-Korean Friendship Association said that the work is as good as declaration to smash the anti-socialist moves of the imperialists with revolutionary leaping progress.
The chairman of the Group for the Study of Kimjongilism of Nigeria stressed that the land rezoning in the DPRK is of great significance in increasing agricultural production and a great demonstration of the greatness of the leadership of Kim Jong Il and the invincible might of socialist Korea.

KCNA urges Japan to think twice

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- At least 2,000 people held a meeting in Tokyo on April 30 at which they called upon the government to work hard to settle the "issue of suspected kidnapping", Kyodo News reported.
An "appeal" calling for "economic sanctions" against the DPRK was adopted at the meeting with the attendance of even families of the "victims". It is quite obvious that the meeting was part of the Japanese ultra right reactionary forces' hostile moves against the DPRK.
We cannot but draw particular attention to this undesirable happening just before the DPRK-Japan intergovernmental talks slated to be held in Tokyo soon.
As we have already clarified several times, the Japanese reactionaries' loudmouthed "kidnapping issue" is a security issue in Japan with which we have nothing to do.
Their smear campaign against the DPRK over a sort of "kidnapping" is nothing but their expression of hostility toward it.
Yet, we, taking the agreement reached between political parties of the two countries, the aspiration of the two peoples for the improved bilateral relations and the repeated request of the politicians and authorities of Japan into consideration, started an investigation into common missing persons from a humanitarian stand, and a serious probe is going on between the Red Cross organizations of the two countries.
Such being the case, the Japanese reactionaries are becoming ever more clamorous about the "kidnapping issue" in a bid to build up public opinion. This cannot be construed otherwise than an act of casting a wet blanket over the investigation and our magnanimous and sincere efforts for it.
The Japanese authorities and politicians should ponder over the serious implications the ultra right reactionaries' moves will have on the DPRK-Japan relations and immediately take practical measures to stop them from a responsible stand.

S. Korean authorities incite confrontation

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- The South Korean authorities have built "battle sites" across South Korea into "educational grounds for the defense and security of the homeland" with the approach of June 25, 50 years after the U.S. ignited the war of aggression on Korea, and are now getting over-heated in anti-communist propaganda and inciting confrontation, according to a radio report from Seoul.
They are ceaselessly guiding people and foreign tourists to the "educational grounds" and "battle sites of the UN forces member nations which participated in the war" in an effort to embellish the crime of the U.S. who kindled the war of aggression on Korea and justify their moves to provoke a new war against the north.

Peaceful reunification of Korea supported

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- The standing commission of the c.c. of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation on April 28 released a statement in support of the peaceful reunification of Korea.
The statement welcomed the positive measure for a peaceful and fair reunification of Korea in the name of over 500,000 party members.
The Communist Party of the Russian Federation refers with satisfaction to the justness of the proposals for peaceful reunification put forward by the leadership of the DPRK several times, it noted, and went on:
General Secretary Kim Jong Il agreed to meet with the South Korean "President," which gives a hope that this year may be a historic one for Korea's reunification.
The Communist Party of the Russian Federation extends solidarity to the Korean people and supports the peace proposals of the DPRK leadership.
And we consider that withdrawal of the U.S. troops from South Korea is one of the decisive factors of Korea's independent and peaceful reunification.

U.S. turns down request for interviews with participants

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- South Korean investigators requested the U.S. government to arrange interviews with American war veterans involved in the mass killing of civilians in Rogun-ri, according to a foreign press report.
But the U.S. government responded negatively to the request, citing "legal restrictions."
It, afraid of more exposure of the mass killings of South Korean people, rejected the interviews in a bid to deny and play down the truth about the killings.

Moves for military tie-up between S. Korea and Japan

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- South Korean "Prime Minister" Pak Thae Jun reportedly expressed "understanding" about the Japanese side's will concerning the amendment of the present constitutions of Japan and South Korea so that the Japanese "Self-Defense Forces" may make an entry into a war on the Korean peninsula.
Yamasaki, former chairman of the policy research council of the Japanese Liberal-Democratic Party who was on a tour of Seoul, asserted at the talks on May 2 that the constitutions of both sides should be revised regarding the intervention of Japan "in emergency" on the Korean peninsula.
In his response to it Pak Thae Jun said:
"We cannot afford to stick to the past eternally. It is a natural thought."
The fact indicates that the South Korean ruling quarters and the Japanese reactionaries are running amuck to complete the U.S.-Japan-South Korea triangular military alliance and legalize the dispatch of Japanese militarist forces of aggression to the Korean peninsula.

Moves to revise "law on assembly and demonstration"

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- The South Korean ruling quarters are now scheming to make the "law on assembly and demonstration" all the more fascist, according to a news report.
They said that the present "law" is favourable only for organisations that sponsor meetings. They are planning to rig up more rules to disapprove the participation in a meeting of those organisations which held a "radical demonstration" and punish them and prohibit a long-term meeting.

The president of the university handed the diploma to the head of the DPRK delegation of lecturers on Koryo medicine.

Most reasonable way of reunification

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- We should reunify the country by all means in our generation to prevent the permanent split of the nation and hand a reunified country down to the coming generation and this historic task can be accomplished only through reunification by confederacy formula, says Minju Joson today in a signed article. Reunifying the country by confederacy formula means building a unified national state, leaving the existing two differing systems and governments in the north and the south as they are, the article notes, and goes on:
Reunification by confederacy formula is the most reasonable and just way of reunification as it neither seeks upper hand or interests of any of the two sides nor does any harm to anyone.
This reunification formula is aimed, first of all, at building a unified national state irrespective of the different ideologies and social systems in the north and south even if the issue of integrating the two systems there into one is left to the coming generations so that they can solve it smoothly in no hurry in future.
National reunification is a national issue related to the future destiny of the nation as it aims to realize the national independence. It is, therefore, quite natural to place the nation above any system in solving the issue of reunification, the national issue.
Reunifying the country by confederacy formula based on this conception is a patriotic way of reunification.
This reunification formula fully conforms with the specific conditions of our country.
The history has already proved that it is impossible to reunify the country by the method of one side swallowing up the other either by means of war or peaceful means. It is the best way of solving the reunification issue smoothly at an early date to achieve reunification by confederacy formula under the situation where the two differing systems and governments exist in the north and the south.
The process of reunifying the country by confederacy formula paves the way for the Korean nation to independently solve the reunification issue, free from dependence on foreign forces or from foreign interference on the principle of national self-determination.
The Korean people will achieve its great unity as one nation and demonstrate its might to the world when the country is reunified by confederacy formula.
