"He regarded 'believe in the people as in heaven' as his maxim and devoted his whole life to the people to the last moments of his life.
"Though he was totally dedicated to the people, he never wished his exploits to be praised. Moreover, he never lorded it over the popular masses nor considered himself to be a hero born of heaven bestowing 'grace' upon people."
"He always lived among people as he was a benevolent father who made the people live in a great harmonious family on the basis of one and the same idea, faith, sense of obligation and cause."

DPRK FM spokesman on U.S. chief executive's remarks

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea today issued a statement denouncing the U.S. chief executive for taking issue with the DPRK as regards the June 25 Korean War.
    The statement says:
On June 24 the U.S. chief executive reportedly made a proclamation at the request of the congress in which he said on June 25, 1950, armed forces from North Korea launched an invasion of South Korea and through the United Nations Security Council, the then U.S. president, Truman committed the first U.S. forces to combat in South Korea.
If it is true, his remarks distorted the truth of history.
It is well known to the world that the U.S. is a provoker of the Korean War and an aggressor.
The Korean War was a war of aggression, a product of the war policy that the U.S. had long pursued because of the geo-political importance of the Korean peninsula in its realization of the world strategy.
The then commander of the U.S. far eastern headquarters, Macarthur, said that conquest of Korea as a whole would enable the U.S. to cut off the only and one supply line linking Soviet Siberia to the south and control the whole area between Vladivostok and Singapore. He testified that the U.S. amassed all military supplies and weapons in the area along the 38th parallel to attack North Korea on the eve of war.
In an effort to cover up such a policy of aggression and undisguised invasion and shift the responsibility on to the DPRK the U.S. rigged up an illegal "resolution" at the UN Security Council meeting.
Passage of the time cannot write off history. Nor can any distortion change it.
The recent anti-DPRK diatribe of the U.S. chief executive cannot be construed otherwise than a provocation designed to chill on-going negotiations aimed at confidence building.
If the U.S. continues to do an act of increasing distrust, swimming against the trend of the present situation toward reconciliation and cooperation, it will only go to reveal with added clarity the true colors of the U.S. as a wrecker of global peace and stability.
