Kim Jong Il pays his respects to Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace at 0 on July 8, the greatest memorial day of the nation, together with the members of the DPRK National Defence Commission and commanding officers of the Korean People's Army to pay homage to the President Kim Il Sung.
The palace, the sacred temple of Juche, was wrapped in an atmosphere of deep mourning on the sixth death anniversary of the President, the father of socialist Korea and the nation.
He entered the hall where the statue of the President stands.
He was accompanied by Jo Myong Rok, first vice-chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and director of the KPA general political department= Kim Yong Chun, member of the DPRK National Defence Commission and chief of the KPA general staff= Kim Il Chol, vice-chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and Minister of the People's Armed Forces= KPA marshal Ri Ul Sol, member of the DPRK National Defence Commission= KPA vice marshal Ri Yong Mu, vice-chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission= and staff members of the supreme command of the KPA.
He paid high tribute to the statue together with members of the DPRK National Defence Commission and the KPA commanding officers.
He then entered the hall where the President lies in state for perpetuity.
He bowed to the President in humble reverence together with members of the DPRK National Defence Commission and the KPA commanding officers.
Foreign military attaches' corps visits Mangyongdae revolutionary school
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- The military attaches' corps here yesterday visited Mangyongdae Revolutionary School on the occasion of the 6th death anniversary of the President Kim Il Sung.
The members of the corps laid bunches of flowers before his statue at the school and paid their respects to him.
They heard the explanation about boards bearing on-site instructions of the President Kim Il Sung, General Secretary Kim Jong Il and the great communist revolutionary fighter Kim Jong Suk.
They looked round excellent educational facilities of the school and conversed with the pupils.
At the end of the visit Vu Dinh Thang, military attache of the Vietnamese embassy who is also doyen of the corps, said that the President built the school for the children of revolutionary martyrs after Korea's liberation and took care of the pupils like their real fathers.
Educational and living conditions of the school were very good, he said, adding that through the visit he saw the pupils growing to be pillars of the country under the loving care of Kim Jong Il.
Commemorations of youths and students held
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- Youths and students of the DPRK held events yesterday to commemorate the 6th death anniversary of the President Kim Il Sung.
Put on the stage of youths and students "leader and youths" were various numbers including poems, dances and songs of the greatness of the President who performed undying exploits on behalf of the country, people, times and history.
The participants in the poem and story-telling meeting of youths in Pyongyang "opening the reminiscences 'With the Century'" said of the contents of the immortal reminiscences of Kim Il Sung who performed undying exploits in the youth movement from the dawn of the Korean revolution to the last moments of his great life.
An oratorical contest of university students in Pyongyang "leader and student" and a Pyongyang schoolchildren's meeting of poems and songs "Fatherly Leader Generalissimo Kim Il Sung Is Our Eternal Sun" were held.
Some 40 documentary films released
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- The past six years after the passing away of the President Kim Il Sung witnessed more than 40 documentary films on his revolutionary exploits.
Among them were "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Is Immortal," "The Great Life in 1994," "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Meets with Heads of State and Prominent Figures of Foreign Countries," "The Fatherly Leader Among Working Class," "The Tender-hearted Father of Koreans in Japan," "The Great Lodestar of Great National Unity" and "For the Liberation of the Country" adapted from the reminiscences of the President "With the Century."
The films impressively say of the glorious revolutionary history and immortal revolutionary exploits of the President who rendered great services to the country and people and global independence all his life.
Remember-Kim Il Sung meetings held
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- The China Association for International Friendly Contact and the Beijing Association for International Friendly Contact hosted a meeting to remember the revolutionary exploits of the President Kim Il Sung in Beijing on July 5 to commemorate his 6th death anniversary.
The participants viewed the Korean documentary film "The Great Life in 1994."
Vice-president of the China Association for International Friendly Contact Li Zhangshun said that Kim Il Sung made an immortal contribution to the independence and liberation of Korea and devoted his whole life to the socialist revolution and construction in the DPRK and the peaceful reunification of the country.
Similar meetings took place in London, Berne and Dar Es Salaam on June 30 and July 1.
Kim Il Sung, sun of Juche
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- Party and state leaders of various countries speak highly of immortal revolutionary exploits of the President Kim Il Sung.
Norodom Sihanouk, King of Cambodia, said Kim Il Sung is the greatest founder of modern Korea. He led the Korean people with brilliant rays of the Juche philosophy to build the country and eye-opening development, the King added.

Korea's reunification supported
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- Different events, including gatherings, took place in Russia, Nepal, Peru, Nigeria, Malta, Guyana, Madagascar, Denmark, Romania, France, Austria, the Czech Republic and Democratic Congo in support of the Korean people's national reunification.
Exhibited at the venues of the events were photos showing the immortal feats of the great leaders, President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il, their famous works, pictures, books and handiwork showing the Korean people's struggle for the country's reunification.
Speakers said the President devoted his all to the freedom and happiness of the people and reunification of the country all his life to perform immortal feats.
He indicated fundamental principles and ways of national reunification by advancing the three principles of national reunification, the ten-point program for the great unity of the entire nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo, they noted.
They said the President's idea of national reunification is being put into practice by Kim Jong Il and expressed support for the Korean people's struggle to reunify the country in accordance with the three-point charter of national reunification formulated by him.
They stressed under the leadership of the great Kim Jong Il Korea is sure to be reunified in the near future.

Kim Il Sung's life dedicated to people
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- Today commemorates the sixth death anniversary of the President Kim Il Sung.
On this day the Korean people recall in humble reverence for him the life of the President who devoted his all to the freedom and happiness of the country and people.
He never considered himself apart from the people from the time he embarked upon the road of the revolution in his teens to the last moments of his life.
Having regarded the great idea of "believing in the people as in heaven" as his maxim, he led the hard-fought anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to a resounding victory in reliance upon the efforts of broad segments of the people to accomplish the historic cause of national liberation.
Throughout the building of a new country, the Fatherland Liberation War and socialist construction he found himself among the people, sharing joy and sorrow with them. He gave on-site guidance to at least 18,000 units in more than 17,800 days from Juche 34 (1945) to July Juche 83 (1994).
He made a long journey of on-the-spot guidance, not caring about snow-covered and muddy roads, roads leading to frontline under a shower of bullets, shells and bombs and lanes in remote mountainous areas. Guided by the idea that he should go everywhere the people live, he visited factories, enterprises, schools, hospitals, people's army units and posts and houses of ordinary people across the country.
His long journey of on-site guidance was a continuation of his tireless efforts for the nation's eternal prosperity and the ever-lasting happiness of the people.

Three-point charter of national reunification supported
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- The Communist Party of Tajikistan and political parties of Madagascar joined in the international signature campaign in support of the three-point charter of Korean reunification.
A decision to support this charter was adopted at the 25th extraordinary meeting of the Communist Party of Tajikistan on July 1.
It said that the three-point charter of national reunification is the most fair and aboveboard and reasonable proposal to reunify the country at an earlier date in accordance with specific conditions of the Korean peninsula and the aspiration of the entire Korean nation.
The chairman and other leading officials of the party signed the signature paper on behalf of 70,000 party members.
The national chairman of the Workers and Peasants Struggle Party of Madagascar and the chairman of the Party for Defence of Popular Rights of Madagascar signed it respectively on behalf of their party members.
Eternal sun of humankind
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- The Korean and all other progressive peoples of the world are commemorating with most profound reverence the sixth anniversary of the passing away of the President Kim Il Sung which falls on today.
Many floral baskets and bouquets are sent to the Kumsusan Memorial Palace where the President lies in state for perpetuity, to his statue on Mansu Hill and to the DPRK missions in different countries by heads of state and government, leaders of political parties and prominent figures from all walks of life in various countries on this day.
Committees to remember President Kim Il Sung were inaugurated worldwide, a decision has already been adopted to traditionalize July 8 as "day of eternal great sun of Juche" and the title of tribal chief as great as the sun was awarded to him. This is a clear proof that the world people highly laud Kim Il Sung as the sun and miss him badly.
From olden times people used to worship the sun.
They entrusted their destinies to the sun and looked up to it like god but they could not realise any of their wishes.
At that time there appeared the savior of destiny who could save the lives of people with the rays of the Juche idea as bright as those of the sun and bring people's dream of happiness to reality with ardent human love.
He was none other than President Kim Il Sung.
That is why progressive humankind is highly lauding Kim Il Sung as the sun.
At least 85,000 books and art works praising Kim Il Sung have been published in more than 170 countries around the world.
1,520 varieties of books on the greatness and immortal feats of the President including "Kim Il Sung encyclopaedia" and 35,000 varieties of poems, songs, reminiscences, notes and impressions were published in 40-odd foreign languages in many countries around the world.
People's veneration for him grew stronger after his passing away.
In the first 5 months after his passing away more than 200 poems dedicated to him were published worldwide.
Tens of streets, schools and important places in Cuba, Cambodia and many other countries were named after Kim Il Sung in the last 6 years.

Floral baskets laid before statues of Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- Working people in different parts of the country, servicemen of the Korean People's Army and school youth and children today visited the statues of the President Kim Il Sung on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of his passing away.
Standing before the statue of Kim Il Sung on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang was a floral basket from General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
Floral baskets, bouquets and flowers were laid before the statue of the President in the name of institutions of all levels, KPA units, enterprises, factories, organizations, cooperative farms and schools.
Floral baskets, bouquets and flowers were also placed before the statues of the President in various parts of Pyongyang including Kim Il Sung University and the Pyongyang Schoolchildren's Palace.
Meanwhile, working people in different parts of the country, servicemen of the KPA and school youth and children today visited the statues of the President in their hometowns to lay floral baskets, bouquets and flowers there.
In another development, foreign diplomatic envoys, representatives of international organizations, military attaches' corps and overseas compatriots placed floral baskets before the statue of the President on Mansu hill.
On the same day, a floral basket from U.S.-resident woman journalist Mun Myong Ja was placed before the statue of the President. Floral baskets from foreign guests and overseas compatriots were also laid before the statues of the President in different parts of the country.

They entered the wailers' hall and went round the portrait of the President with sunny smile against the background of a red flag and carved bronze sculptures depicting the Korean people and the world progressives who were overcoming sorrow over the nation's biggest loss with thousand-fold strength and courage.
