Kim Jong Il gives on-the-spot guidance to newly-built chicken factory

Pyongyang, November 3 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il yesterday gave on-the-spot guidance to chicken factory no. 112 built by servicepersons.
The factory with a total floor space of more than 25,000 square metres is a state-of-the-art factory equipped with the latest facilities ranging from chicken feed processing to feeding, water supply, hatching, production of chicken meat and eggs, lighting and temperature and humidity regulation of chicken-house.
People's army soldiers finished with credit the difficult and vast project in less than one year, demonstrating once again the revolutionary spirit of soldiers of the heroic KPA.

He put forward detailed tasks to be carried out to manage and operate the factory, such as building up the factory better and keeping the production at a high rate at an early date.
He said chicken factories, duck factories and cattle farms as modern as this chicken factory were built or now under construction in hearty response to the party's intention to provide the people and servicepersons with a sufficient amount of meat and eggs and that the existing stock-breeding bases should put breeding on a scientific and technological basis to steadily increase the production and factories now under construction should be successfully completed as edifices of eternal value to pass a prosperous socialist homeland on to posterity.
He said in recent years modern stock-breeding bases, catfish farms and fish farms with high productivity have been built in different parts of the country to prove their worth and if pig and duck factories based on the latest science and technology are built in addition to them it is possible to provide the army and people with a rich diet.
Underscoring the need to bring about a revolutionary change in stock-breeding so as to enable the people to have as good diet as others', he proposed concrete tasks to be fulfilled.
He earnestly instructed that all domains and units should develop stock-breeding on a large scale through a vigorous mass movement to provide the people with a more affluent and cultured life.
He was accompanied by Kim Kuk Thae, secretary of the WPK Central Committee= Pak Song Bong, first vice department director of the WPK Central Committee= and generals of the KPA Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.

S. Korean Red Cross President's mud-slinging at DPRK

Pyongyang, November 3 (KCNA) -- The President of the Red Cross of South Korea who visited Pyongyang at the head of the first batch of separated families and relatives of the south side was reported to have let loose extremely provocative outbursts against the DPRK, its dialogue partner, at a recent interview with the South Korean magazine "Monthly Korea."
The central committee of the Red Cross Society of the DPRK issued a statement Friday assailing his remarks.
At the interview he let loose such slanderous words that Pyongyang "remained stagnant instead of making progress" over the last decade, visitors from the south "changed their clothes almost everyday" but northerners "went in the same dresses all the time" and "it will be the north not the south that will lose when exchange gets under way," etc.
He went the length of maliciously vilifying even the dignified political system in the north by talking rubbish that "reunion of separated families was a mirror of heterogeneity between the south and the north and qualities of their systems," "there is no freedom in the north" and people in the north "live in an oppressive atmosphere in a tightly controlled society."
He in the capacity of the President of the Red Cross dared to use the exchange of the hometown visiting groups of separated families and relatives in the anti-DPRK smear campaign.
This is an intolerable challenge and mockery of the DPRK from the humanitarian and compatriotic point of views.
    The statement continues:
The central committee of the DPRK Red Cross Society bitterly denounces his provocative interview as an anti-national deed of going against the June 16 joint declaration and a separatist move intended to bring the north-south relations back to those of confrontation.
The deeds of the President of the South Korean Red Cross have thrown an unpredictable, grave obstacle to settling the humanitarian issues between the north and the south.
In the name of the nation we cannot but settle accounts with him who spoke for the ultra right-wing forces preoccupied by the conception of anti-north confrontation by slandering the north and taking issue with its political system.
We are merciless in dealing with the provocateurs.
We will not talk with him who did what a Red Cross official should not do, considering it hard to settle such humanitarian issues as alleviating misfortune and sufferings of separated families and relatives as long as he stays in his office.
The north side will have to reexamine the immediate exchange of visiting groups of separated families and relatives and the future inter-Korean Red Cross talks.

Adherence to principle of national independence called for

Pyongyang, November 3 (KCNA) -- The Worker's Party of Korea's principle of reunifying the country independently is a fundamental one governing the solution of the issue of national reunification, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
Noting that the principle of national independence is a core issue of settling the national problem, the article says: It is because national independence is what keeps the nation alive and it is a fundamental guarantee for the nation's existence and development to protect independence.
    The article goes on:
Only when the principle of national independence is maintained, is it possible to preserve the Juche character and national identity and carve out the destiny of the nation according to its desire and will.
By doing so it is also possible for the nation to fully exercise its sovereignty in the international arena and develop external relations on the principle of complete equality and mutual benefit.
In order to settle the issue of Korea's reunification it is essential to settle the issue of national reunification independently on the principle of national self-determination.
The principle of national independence serves as a basis of the great unity of the nation and a touchstone distinguishing patriotism from treachery and the line of reunification from that of division.
The north-south joint declaration is a declaration of national independence which calls for solving the issue of national reunification by the concerted efforts of our nation responsible for its settlement.
A wide avenue will be paved for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country if the north and south join efforts to sincerely implement the joint declaration on the principle of national independence.

No force on earth can check magnetic power of socialist idea

Pyongyang, November 3 (KCNA) -- Socialist idea is invincible while bourgeois idea is bound to go to ruin and no force on earth can check the magnetic power of the socialist idea, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
    It goes on:
The socialist idea meant to meet the interests of the broad popular masses calls for enabling all people to lead a free, equal and dignified life and ensuring the independent development of all the countries and nations free from all sorts of domination and subjugation.
The process of the development of history has already clearly proved that the bourgeois idea can never check the magnetic power of the socialist idea, the article says, adding that history after the second world war was a history of the victory of socialism.
The socialist countries achieved social-economic progress in a historically short span of time which would take capitalism hundreds of years.
The world socialist movement is advancing on a new track of development overcoming temporary crisis.
Road to socialism leads to national prosperity. It is only socialism that will enable developing countries building new societies to clear away the consequences of the imperialists' colonial domination and achieve national prosperity.
The fact that more than 250 parties have signed the Pyongyang declaration goes to prove that the socialist idea alone reflects the desire and demand of progressive humankind.
The reality in the DPRK where man-centred socialism displays its tremendous vitality is a striking demonstration of the invincibility of the socialist idea.

World closely watches Japan's attitude

Pyongyang, November 3 (KCNA) -- Japan's denial of its past crimes goes to prove that it has not yet given up its militarist viewpoint and aggressive idea but seeks to realize its ambition to dominate Korea and the rest of Asia, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
Accusing Japan of deliberately linking the settlement of its past with the "issue of kidnapping," the article says:
The Japanese government is shameless enough to keep mum about Japan's hideous crimes of walking away so many Koreans by force and kidnapping them in the past and working hard to twist the relations between the DPRK, the victim, and Japan, the assailant, persistently raising a hue and cry over the "suspected kidnapping" by the DPRK. Lurking behind this is a sinister political aim.
The Japanese government seeks to play down its past crimes and drag out the settlement of its past for an indefinite period in a bid to wrest sort of concession from the DPRK.
It is the core of the issue of settling its past for Japan to make an official apology and take steps to compensate for its crimes.
It is the only way for Japan to improve the peculiar DPRK-Japan relations fundamentally different from those between Japan and other countries to officially apologize and compensate for its past crimes.
Japan's redress for its past crimes should lead to its renouncement of its hostile policy towards the DPRK.
Over the last scores of years since the end of the war Japan has pursued this policy towards the DPRK.
In fact, this is crimes committed by Japan against Korea at present to add to its past crimes.
Japan's hostile policy towards the DPRK was prompted by its intention to repeat its past history of aggression. That is why Japan is dragging out the settlement of its past crimes, negating its past aggression under this or that pretext.
Recalling that those countries, who were once hostile to the DPRK, are opting to improve relations with it, taking the positive developments on the Korean peninsula into consideration, the article notes:
The DPRK has a will to improve relations with Japan, but it will never allow Japan to persistently evade the settlement of its past crimes and embark upon reinvasion. This is the steadfast and invariable stand and will of the DPRK.
Japan is well advised to bear in mind that its future will depend on its sincere apology and compensation for its past crimes and halt to its hostile policy towards the DPRK.

Scientific achievements in DPRK

Pyongyang, November 3 (KCNA) -- Scientists and technicians of the DPRK have made successes in developing ultra-modern technology.
The Academy of Sciences recently finished the research into over 100 kinds of IC (integrated circuit) masks, perfected the IC version system and manufactured ultramicrocontrolled IC and various kinds of memory cells.
It also developed light source of laser figure oscillator, the main equipment in the procession of manufacturing ic mask, which is available in the domain of ultra-modern technology such as information procession, phototelegraphy, laser print and spectrochemical analysis.
Meanwhile, success was made in broadening silicon monocrystal of a certain style by introducing the mathematical model technology. This makes it possible to annually provide a large quantity of some materials for integrated circuit.
Scientists of the Hamhung branch of the academy were the first to develop sensitive materials for IC. This achievement has laid foundations for further developing the technology of manufacturing ICs with locally available raw materials.
Those at the building materials branch of the academy developed the third dimensional program whereby to design all of the main blueprints of a building by computer.
Scientists in the domain of cell and genetic engineering succeeded in producing a large quantity of human somatotropin with microorganism by a genetic engineering method.
Besides, they attained the new technology of producing anti-body monoclone by an immunological method and are making successes in developing materials needed for the study of the genetic engineering as well as in research into various kinds of biomolecules.
