Greetings to Kyrgyz President

    Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- President Kim Yong Nam of the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK on Oct. 31 sent a message of greetings to Askar Akayev on his reelection as President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
    The message extended warm congratulations to him upon his reelection as President and expressed the belief that the friendly relations between the two countries would continue to develop on good terms.
    It wished the President greater success in his work for the stability and prosperity of Kyrgyzstan.


Korea's literature and art praised

    Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- The literature and art of the DPRK have reached their acme, said Riyad Chaloub, chief of the February 16 Art Group of Guinea and chairman of the Guinean Association of Musicians and Performers, in a statement on Oct. 26.
    In the statement he went on:
    The great leader Kim Jong Il has wisely led the literature and art to always truthfully represent the people's life and reflect the national identity in their works in a new and unique manner.
    The literature and art in the DPRK, which have reached their acme under his wise guidance, encourage all the Koreans in the north, south and abroad to turn out to achieve the reunification of the country.
    Today Kim Jong Il enjoys absolute international authority for his outstanding and energetic revolutionary activities to achieve Korea's reunification and build a powerful nation and the world attention focuses on Korea.
    The 21st century will be Kim Jong Il's century, he stressed.


GIs repeatedly drive tanks over rice

    Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- GIs involved in war exercises deliberately ran tanks over rice harvested by South Korean peasants, according to Seoul-based MBC.
    Tanks of the U.S. forces crushed rice whose amount was equal to more than 70 bags, which had been in a drying process on a road in Sokhyon-ri of Joksong-myon, Phaju city, Kyonggi Province, on Nov. 2.
    At the end of October U.S. tanks ran over rice whose quantity was equal to 720 straw bags, which had been spread on a road to be dried.
    The U.S. forces have not made any apology and compensation for the damage, but persisted in spoiling rice. The South Korean people angrily protested this outrage, stating "these are insults to the South Korean people and peasants."


Great idea moving world

   Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- It is neither money nor atomic bomb but the great idea that moves the world as it correctly reflects the requirements of the times and the desire of the popular masses, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
    The imperialists' "dollar diplomacy," moves for "globalization" and nuclear weapons are adversely affecting the world progress, the article says, adding that it is necessary to rouse the man, master of the world, to action in order to move the world and to get the man on the move one should awaken him ideologically.
    People's idea is essential for a revolutionary struggle and construction and it is man's idea that decides everything.
    Money and wealth are limited but the power of the idea knows no limitation.
    Ideologically armed people can display unimaginably Herculean strength and work out miracles.
    The Juche idea reflects the requirements and desire of the era of independence, the new era of the history, when the popular masses emerged as master of their own destinies.
    Today the Juche idea serves as a beacon illumining the way to be followed by the times, a lever moving the earth and a locomotive advancing the revolution.
    The immortal Juche idea is an ever-victorious treasured sword more effective than money and nuclear weapon, the article says, concluding that in this world today revolution is made under the banner of the Juche idea, an idea representing the era of independence.


Loach soup

    Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- Loach soup is known to be good for health from old times in Korea.
    Loach is boiled well before putting into the soup at least 10 ingredients including beef, beancurd, small green bean sprouts, mints, pepper, green onion, garlic, sesame oil and powdered Korean pepper. The soup, when served after it is boiled again, gives a savoury smell and special flavor.
    Loach contains proteins, fat, minerals, vitamins A, B1, B2, PP and so on.
    It is noted for containing much essential amino acid such as amino acid, tryptophan and methionine and vitamin B2.
    Therefore, it is good for curing acute hepatitis, tubercular lymph arthritis, diabetes, tuberculosis, cirrhosis of the liver and so on.
    It is also used as tonic to help middle-aged and old people regain vigor. Loach is found everywhere in the country.


Korea's reunification supported worldwide

   Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article deals with a vigorous solidarity movement for Korea's reunification now under way worldwide.
    The Korean nation's cause of reunification is positively supported and encouraged by the world people, the article says, and goes on:
    A total of more than 156.55 million people from over 100 countries have participated in the international signature campaign for supporting the three-point charter of Korea's reunification in a little over seven months since it started last March in response to the appeal of the international liaison committee for reunification and peace in Korea. At least 200 political party leaders and hundreds of prominent figures of social organizations, regional and international organizations of over 100 countries took part in the campaign.
    This campaign also took place at international conferences.
    Representatives of 32 political parties which attended the 2nd European and Asian regional meeting of the progressive parties, representatives of 30 trade and labour unions of 25 countries which participated in the 14th congress of the World Federation of Trade Unions and representatives of 13 youth and students organizations of countries and regions which attended the 17th congress of the International Union of Students supported the three-point charter of Korea's reunification and voiced solidarity with the Korean people's cause of national reunification.
    On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo advanced by the President Kim Il Sung at the 6th congress of the Worker's Party of Korea in October Juche 69 (1980) vigorous activities were conducted all over the world in full support of the proposal.
    This international solidarity movement is a great encouragement to the Korean people in their struggle to protect and glorify independence and dignity of the nation, honestly implement the north-south joint declaration and reunify the country independently.


"With the Century" published in English

   Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- Song Ki Roe, a Korean resident in the United States, published the 5th volume of the reminiscences of the President Kim Il Sung "With the Century" in English in the United States on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Worker's Party of Korea.
    He has already brought out the reminiscences from the first volume to the fourth volume in English and disseminated them in the United States.


Book on anti-Japanese fighter Kim Jong Suk published in U.S.

    Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- A book on the immortal revolutionary exploits performed by the great communist revolutionary fighter Kim Jong Suk "In Memory of Mother Kim Jong Suk, Anti-Japanese Fighter in Forest of Mt. Paektu" was authored and published by Hong Jong Ja, a Korean resident in the United States, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Worker's Party of Korea.
    The book carries Kim Jong Suk's portrait, a photo of her with the President Kim Il Sung during the anti-Japanese armed struggle, a photo of her with Kim Il Sung and the respected leader Kim Jong Il taken after the liberation of the country and a picture of her statue in Hoeryong, North Hamgyong Province.
    The book has 13 subtitles. The first part of the book impressively depicts the whole aspect of her revolutionary life on the basis of rich historical data.
    In the last part the book deals with the greatness and vitality of her revolutionary exploits which the writer learned about and confirmed by visiting the Hoeryong revolutionary site and having interviews with anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters and officials of the field of preserving historic relics.
