Need to strengthen youth league

Pyongyang, November 24 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a signed article to the 30th anniversary of the publication of the President Kim Il Sung's famous work "On Making the League of Socialist Working Youth Cheerful and Militant" (November 24, Juche 59 '1970').
Expounded in the work are the questions of building up the ranks of cadres of the youth league with young people, revolutionizing the youth, training young hard cores systematically and intensifying the party's guidance over the youth league and other important principled matters arising in strengthening the youth league and developing the youth movement.
The respected leader Kim Jong Il carries forward the President's idea of attaching importance to the young people, the article says, and goes on:
He considers it as an important strategic policy to hold fast to the line of attaching importance to the young people as well as the army-first policy in accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche.
The line calls for putting forward and strengthening the youth league, which is a lawful requirement of the Korean revolution in its development and needed for training future cadres of revolution in a far-sighted way.
The successful building of a powerful nation needs a powerful militant contingent capable of making a breakthrough in the tough work on the key fronts of socialist construction. It is the youth league and young people who should undertake it.
It is necessary to put forward the youth league and young cadres, entrust them with important work and help the youth league organisations do work independently so as to train many cadres of excellent caliber who work with ardent zeal, revolutionary sweep and creative initiative.
Strengthening the youth league is required for smashing the anti-socialist moves of the imperialists.
The enemies are viciously scheming to infuse reactionary ideology and culture into young people.
The present situation calls for pushing ahead with the training of the young people in a revolutionary way.
When the youth league is pushed to the foreground and strengthened, the proud tradition of the Korean youth movement characterized by boundless loyalty to the party, strong sense of unity and organisation and high militancy will last for ever.
