Greetings to Palestinian President

    Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, President of the presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a message of greetings to Yasser Arafat, President of the State of Palestine, chairman of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and head of the Palestine National Authority, yesterday on the occasion of "the day of world solidarity with the Palestinian people".
    The message extended solidarity with the just cause of the Palestinian President and people to retake their legitimate national rights and achieve durable peace in Mideast.
    Saying that the Korean people wish the Palestinian people great victory in their just struggle to found an independent state with Kuds as its capital, it expressed the belief that the bonds of friendship and solidarity between the two peoples would steadily develop.


Talks held between Kim Yong Nam and Sam Nujoma

    Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- Talks between Kim Yong Nam, President of the presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, and Sam Nujoma, President of the Republic of Namibia, were held at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today.
    At the talks both sides briefed each other on the situation of their countries, exchanged views on the need to expand and develop the bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation and issues of common concern and shared the same view on the discussed issues.
    Present there were Minister of the People's Armed Forces Kim Il Chol, Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun, Minister of Culture Kang Nung Su, vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kung Sok Ung and officials concerned from the DPRK side and Defence Minister Erikki Nghimtina, deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Information and Broadcasting Tuliameni Kalomoh, special adviser to the President Iyambo Indongo, secretary to the President Ndeutala Angolo, Namibian Ambassador E.P. to China Hopelong Ipinge and other officials from the Namibian side.


Namibian President sojourns in Pyongyang

    Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- Hong Song Nam, premier of the cabinet of the DPRK, sent a message of greetings to Barbadian Prime Minister Owen Auther.
    Congratulating the government and the people of Barbados on the 34th anniversary of its independence, the message wished the Prime Minister success in his work.


Greetings to Barbadian Prime Minister

    Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- Namibian President Sam Nujoma on an official goodwill visit to the DPRK today visited the Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery on Mt. Taesong and laid a wreath before it.
    Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were the President, Defence Minister Erikki Nghimtina, deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Information and Broadcasting Tuliameni Kalomoh, Namibian Ambassador E.P. to China Hopelong Ipinge and other members of his party.
    Kim Yong Nam, President of the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, Kang Nung Su, Minister of Culture, and others were also present there.
    A guard of honor of the Korean People's Army lined up before the cemetery.
    A wreath was laid in the name of the President after the national anthems of the two countries were played.
    The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters.
    The President and his party inspected the three-revolution exhibition today.
    After being briefed on the successes achieved by the Korean people in socialist construction through the ideological, technical and cultural revolutions, they looked round wings of the exhibition with deep interest.
    The President also went to the Mansudae Art Studio.
    Meanwhile, some members of his party visited the Pyongyang maternity hospital and the Pyongyang embroidery institute.


Inter-sector talks held between DPRK and Namibia

    Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- Inter-sector talks between the DPRK and the republic of Namibia were held here today.
    Talks were held between Minister of the People's Armed Forces Kim Il Chol and Defence Minister Erikki Nghimtina and between vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kung Sok Ung and deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Information and Broadcasting Tuliameni Kalomoh.
    Present at the talks were colonel general Ryo Chun Sok of the Korean People's Army, other officials concerned and Namibian Ambassador E.P. to China Hopelong Ipinge and other suite members.
    The talks took place in a sincere and friendly atmosphere.
   


Palestinian people's just cause supported

    Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- The Korean people extend firm solidarity and militant salute to the fighting Palestinian people on the day of world solidarity with the Palestinian people, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
    It goes on:
    The movement for solidarity with the Palestinian people has become a world trend.
    It is the need of the times to solve the Palestinian issue at an early date. The Palestinian issue should be solved before anything else to achieve Mideast peace.
    It is an inviolable sovereign right for the Palestinian people to take back the legitimate national rights including the right to self-determination and the right to found an independent state.
    The DPRK deems it an international duty to support the cause of the Palestinian people.
    The Korean people will as always positively support and encourage the Palestinian people in their just cause of terminating Israel's occupation of the territory of Palestine and winning back their legitimate national rights.


General Kim Jong Il Fellowship Society of Peru formed

   Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- The General Kim Jong Il Fellowship Society of Peru was formed in Lima on November 24 on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the great leader Kim Jong Il's election as Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army.
    Jose Castro Pozo, secretary general of the National Association of Writers and Artists of Peru, was elected chairman of the society. He said at the meeting that it was the unanimous desire of its members to know about Kim Jong Il and Korean socialism and learn from the successes made by the Korean people in the revolution and construction so as to apply them to the specific conditions of Peru.
    A letter to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.
    The letter says:
    We are firmly convinced that Kim Jong Il, who has wrought miracles in the struggle to build a powerful nation of Juche and bring earlier the reunification of Korea, is the man to steer the 21st century.
    The letter says that the members of the society, who love freedom, peace and progress, will deeply study the idea, leadership and immortal exploits of Kim Jong Il and thus awaken broad masses, steadily expand the organization and conduct a variety of work including solidarity activities with a view to accelerating the victorious advance of the cause of independence and escalating the movement for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people.


DPRK ambassador to India appointed

    Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- Jang Kwang Son was appointed as the DPRK Ambassador E.P. to the Republic of India, according to a decree of the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK.


"Diploma to great men of the year 2000" awarded to Kim Jong Il

    Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- The "diploma to great men of the year 2000" was awarded to the great leader Kim Jong Il in Pakistan. It said that the diploma has been conferred upon him for his special contribution to peace and solidarity.
    An awarding ceremony was held in Karachi on November 25.
    Mahmoud Ali, Minister of the Federal Government of Pakistan, in his speech said that the people of the DPRK have successfully solved all the issues by themselves under the wise and dynamic leadership of Kim Jong Il, thus greatly encouraging the oppressed people of the world in the struggle for accomplishing the human cause of independence.


Senior party and state officials visit families of unconverted long-term prisoners

    Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- Kye Ung Thae, Choe Thae Bok, Yang Hyong Sop and other senior party and state officials yesterday visited the families of unconverted long-term prisoners, indomitable patriotic fighters for reunification.
    After their coming to the socialist homeland in September last, they are now leading a happy life in harmony with their families and neighbors at modern houses newly furnished in the center of Pyongyang.
    They were told by senior party and state officials that the great leader Kim Jong Il is in good health and always showing deep concern and loving care for their health and living.
    They expressed their boundless reverence and deep thanks to him.
    Senior party and state officials looked round living rooms, studies, kitchen utensils and bathrooms and conversed with unconverted long-term prisoners and their families.


Historical relics well preserved

    Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- The Wang Kon Mausoleum Cultural Relics Management Office in Kaesong has recently registered good results in its activities.
    The office has made it a routine to keep in good repair the mausoleum of King Wang Kon, founder of Korea's first unified state of Koryo (918-1392), stone sculptures and other related relics.
    This year, tiled roofs of the ancient relics have been painted red and blue to keep them in their original state and flagstones were paved on the floor.
    The surroundings of the relics are kept in good order.
    Green belts have been added and the buildings spruced up.


S. Korea-U.S. "Status of Forces Agreement" burnt in effigy

    Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- The people's action for the revision of the shackling South Korea-U.S. "Status of Forces Agreement" at a rally held in Seoul on November 25 once again demanded the United States immediately revise the "agreement," according to MBC of South Korea.
    The organization accused the U.S. of its very passive approach to the negotiations on the revision of the "agreement" and the recent serious environmental pollution caused by its military bases.
    Participants in the rally burnt the existing "agreement" in effigy.
    Meanwhile, farmers from Phaju city present at the rally demanded the U.S. forces side pay for the recent damage done to agricultural produce by its tanks and make an apology for it.
