Feasting his eyes on the defence line along the front, he acquainted himself in detail with its topographic conditions and the deployment of forces and heard a report on the situation from the commander of the unit.
He noted with great satisfaction that the officers and men of the unit are reliably defending the forefront of the socialist homeland and put forward highly important tasks which would serve as a guideline in increasing the combat capability of the unit in every way.
Then, he dropped in at the headquarters of the unit and went round monuments to on-the-spot guidance of President Kim Il Sung and buildings visited by him, looking back with deep emotion upon his immortal leadership feats associated with the history of the unit's development.

Japanese SDF and police projected exercise blasted

Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- It was reported that the Japanese "Self-Defence Forces" (SDF) and police would conduct a joint exercise using weapons for the first time this year. The Japan defence agency and state public security committee decided it in accordance with the newly revised "agreement on mobilization for public peace".
This proves well how desperately the Japanese reactionaries are working to call out the SDF to suppress the people for local fascistisation, says Rodong Sinmun in a signed commentary today.
The joint exercise is not merely aimed at "maintenance of public peace," the commentary notes, and goes on: The Japanese reactionaries intend to hurl not only the SDF but also police into overseas aggression. To this end, moves for coordinated operations between the SDF and police have become undisguised.
The primary target of the joint exercise is none other than the DPRK. A clear proof of this is that the Japanese reactionaries are busy spreading fictions and false rumours about the DPRK to revise the "agreement on mobilization for public peace" and stage the joint exercise.
They can neither conceal nor justify their criminal purpose of the joint exercise.

Rodong Sinmun calls for preventing nuclear war

Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article says that nuclear weapons are offensive means for war and weapons of mass destruction threatening human existence. A firm guarantee for preventing the nuclear war is to totally eliminate nuclear weapons, the article says, and goes on:
What humankind urgently require in averting this war is to check the deployment of the U.S. "National Missile Defense" system (NMD).
The NMD is a very dangerous nuclear war scenario aimed to militarize the space, threaten and attack other countries and overpower other big countries with a nuclear edge and establish military domination over the world. The deployment of the "Theater Missile Defense" system (TMD) should also be checked.
The TMD is a reckless nuclear war scenario jointly pushed by the united states and Japan to mount nuclear and missile attacks on the DPRK, China, Russia and other east Asian countries.
It is important for averting a nuclear war to bind Japan hand and foot so as to bar it from going ahead with nuclear weaponization and war preparations and deploying the TMD in particular.
What is also important for preventing this war is to ban the use of nukes and nuclear tests and create nuclear-free and peace zones in various parts of the world.
The Korean people will intensify the anti-nuke struggle to build a world without nukes.
