Struggle against outsiders' anti-reunification offensive called for
Pyongyang, March 25 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article calls for smashing the foreign forces' anti-reunification offensive with the concerted efforts of the Korean nation.
An urgent task common to the Korean nation is to achieve peace and peaceful reunification of the country, the article points out, and says:
The Bush administration of the united states is insisting on "hardline policy", pulling up the DPRK for no reason.
Meanwhile, the U.S. has worked out a programme for the implementation of the "hard line policy" toward the DPRK and is putting it into practice.
Such reckless anti-DPRK, anti-reunification aggressive moves of the U.S. hard-line conservatives have laid a grave obstacle to the favourably developing inter-Korean relations and reunification movement, posing a threat to peace of the country and security of the nation.
Nobody can vouch that the U.S., while putting pressure upon the DPRK, will not go into military actions under any pretext. in that case, peace and reunification of Korea cannot be achieved and the whole country and the entire nation will be thrown into flames of a nuclear war.
So, it is urgent to frustrate the U.S. anti-DPRK and anti-reunification moves at once and ensure peace and security of the country and the nation and an atmosphere for the national reconciliation and reunification, arranged with much effort.
The aggressive moves of the U.S. warlike forces should be smashed through national cooperation.
National cooperation is instrumental in defending the natioanl security and interests from any aggression by the foreign forces.
Only when all the Koreans in the north, south and abroad wage a joint struggle under the banner of independence against the U.S., is it possible to defend peace in the country and the cause of reunification.
The entire fellow countrymen should realize the close national cooperation and check through solidarity the U.S. "hard line policy" towards the DPRK as it is clear that the "policy" is aimed at blocking the process of reconciliation and reunification between the north and the south of Korea.

Appeal for holding "grand meeting to congratulate sun of 21st century" supported
Pyongyang, March 25 (KCNA) -- Different countries have rendered support to an appeal adopted at an extraordinary meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean Regional Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, which called for holding a "grand meeting to congratulate the sun of the 21st century" in the area of the secret camp on Mt. Paektu in northern part of Korea where leader Kim Jong Il's native home is located, to mark February 16, his birthday, next year.
Predrag Churchich, chairman of the Yugoslavia-Korea Friendship Association, in a statement said that it is quite natural in view of Kim Jong Il's great feats and his absolute position in the international communist movement and labour movement to hold the "grand meeting to congratulate the sun of the 21st century" in the area of the secret camp on Mt. Paektu.
Georgi Stoyanov, chairman of the Bulgaria-Korea Friendship Association, in his statement said that the world progressives boundlessly revere Kim Jong Il who is wisely leading the party, state and army of the DPRK, and expressed support to the appeal which called for holding the grand meeting.
Japan's moves to evade settlement of past under fire
Pyongyang, Maarch25 (KCNA) -- Liquidation of the past is a primary issue to be settled at DPRK-Japan intergovernmental talks for the improvement of bilateral relations.
Rodong Sinmun today says this in a commentary condemning the Japanese reactionaries' sinister intention to evade the settlement of Japan's past.
It says:
Such intention has been revealed by a special adviser to the Japanese foreign minister, who asserted that negotiations for the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries "could make progress only against the overall background of the improvement of the relations between the north and south of Korea and between the DPRK and the U.S."
Japan is connecting the issue of the bilateral relations with that of relations between the north and south of Korea and between the DPRK and the U.S., under the pretext of fictitious "suspected abduction" and "missile threat" from the DPRK.
After all, it seeks to avoid the liquidation of the past by dragging on the DPRK-Japan negotiations until the inter-Korean relations and the DPRK-U.S. relations are improved and whiling the time for an indefinite period, the commentary observes, and says:
Japan responsible for the settlement of the past should resolve the issue on its own initiative. Nevertheless, it is evading it this or that way, blaming it on external factors.
This is a maladroit trick, that only shows the servile attitude of Japan in diplomacy.
With nothing can Japan wriggle free from its responsibility for making apology and compensation to the Korean people for its past crimes.
It would be well advised to stop the officious anti-DPRK isolation and suffocation campaign and make a bold decision to sincerely redress the past.
U.S. moves to aggravate Korean situation condemned
Pyongyang, March 25 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comments on the U.S. moves to aggravate the situation of the Korean peninsula.
The present U.S. ruling quarters are these days threatening to take a "hard line policy" towards the DPRK under the pretext of "threat" from it while slandering it for no reason.
This is a deliberate and intentional move to get on the nerves of the DPRK and incite confrontation and thus render the situation of the Korean peninsula strained, the commentary says, and goes on:
The U.S. is seeking to turn back the present situation of the Korean peninsula to the original state of confrontation in a bid to block the road of the Korean nation towards its independent and peaceful reunification.
That is why press and other public circles of South Korea are lifting their voices of protest against such moves. They have asserted that the bush administration is foiling the process of inter-Korean reconciliation and cooperation only for the interests of the U.S. and that it is intentionally aggravating the situation, fearful that the affirmative development of the inter-Korean relations will require the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from South Korea.
What the U.S. seeks in aggravating the situation is to gratify its wild ambition for aggression at the sacrifice of the Korean nation.
WPK's policy of giving importance to youth
Pyongyang, March 25 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article says it is a fruition of the Workers' Party of Korea's idea of giving importance to youth that the Korean youth are fully preparing themselves to be reliable pillars who will undertake the future of the cause of Juche and the party's youth vanguard who will pioneer the new century of history.
The WPK has put forward youth as the most powerful unit in society and as reliable successors to the revolution and showed benevolent love and trust for them. Its leadership and idea of giving importance to youth serve as a basic source which creates models of the times for solving the youth problem in the DPRK and enables the youth to be a great force who will undertake the cause of Juche, the article notes, and goes on:
The slogan of the party "Love Youth " is pulsating with the WPK's firm will to grow the youth to be sons and daughters loyal to the party and accomplish the cause of Juche under any difficulties and ordeals. Our youth are the death-defying vanguard who believe only in their leader and devotedly defend the headquarters of revolution and a shock brigade who uphold the party's intention and plan with sincerity.
They are also the most powerful unit and pacesetters of communist traits who make the whole society full of the revolutionary zeal and stamina and beautiful deeds with examples of noble spirit and virtue.
As there are our youth who have grown to be a vanguard of the party and reliable pillars of socialism thanks to the great idea of giving importance to youth, the WPK is strong and Korea's socialism is unshakable.
The Korean youth are firmly determined to become the fortress and shield that will defend leader Kim Jong Il in the advance of socialism under the red flag in the 21st century and inventors and creators of miracles in the struggle for national prosperity.
It is an unchangeable faith and will of the Korean youth that they will demonstrate the honor of being the party's youth vanguard in the course of devotedly defending the leader and upholding his idea and leadership with loyalty.
Let us become youth heroes and heroines in the course of advancing socialism under the red flag in Kim Jong Il's century. This is the slogan upheld by the youth in the advance of the new century.
As long as there are youth who have prepared themselves to be party's young vanguard under Kim Jong Il's great politics of giving importance to youth, a powerful country of Juche will surely be built on this land.
It is a set resolution and will of the WPK to hasten the advance in the new century true to the idea of giving importance to youth.
