U.S.-S. Korea joint military exercise under fire
Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- Liewelyn John, leader of the People's Democratic Movement of Guyana, in a statement issued on April 17 demanded the U.S. immediately halt the reckless war exercise on the Korean peninsula and withdraw its troops from South Korea, a main obstacle to Korean reunification.
Noting that the U.S. and South Korean authorities are staging "reception, staging, onward movement and integration" (RSOI) exercise, challenging the aspirations and ardent desire of the peace-loving people of the world and the entire Korean nation for reunification, the statement said:
This shows that the U.S. is chiefly responsible for the strained international situation and the chieftain of aggression and war.
The purpose of this war exercise now under way under the simulated conditions of an actual war is to annul the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework which calls for refraining from threatening the dialogue partner by force of arms and isolate and stifle the DPRK at any cost.
The statement termed the war exercise an undisguised aggressive move against the DPRK and bitterly denounced it.
Samuel Walker, chairman of the Guyana Labour Union, in a statement issued on April 18 denounced the U.S. and South Korea for their "RSOI" exercise, noting that the U.S. anti-DPRK war moves have created serious difficulties in the way of implementing the north-south joint declaration.
The statement said:
If the South Korean authorities let their army take part in the war exercise, cooperating with the U.S. in its anti-DPRK war moves, they will strongly be protested and denounced by the peace-loving people of the world for their undisguised perfidy to the north-south joint declaration.
We will firmly stand by the Korean people who love justice and peace and extend full support and solidarity to the Korean people in their just struggle to defend the dignity and sovereignty of the country.

Anniversary of KPA observed
Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- Papers here today editorially observe the 69th anniversary of the heroic Korean People's Army.
Rodong Sinmun in an editorial captioned "Let's emerge ever-victorious under the banner of the great army-first idea" says that 70-odd-year history of the heroic KPA is a proud history in which it has defended the revolutionary cause of Juche, winning victory after victory under the army-first banner held aloft by the generals of Mt. Paektu.
The editorial continues:
The distinguished personality of President Kim Il Sung as a great man and his exploits lie in that he founded the army before anything else guided by the army-first idea and opened a new road of advancing the revolution with the army as its main force.
The path covered by the Korean revolutionary armed forces since the first gun report in the forest of Mt. Paektu represents the glorious history in which they have fought as the vanguard of the generals of Mt. Paektu, learning from the idea, will, traits and spirit of general Kim Il Sung, commander of guerrillas on Mt. Paektu who founded and led the KPA, general Kim Jong Suk, anti-Japanese heroine, and general Kim Jong Il, supreme commander of the KPA.
The editorial makes a particular mention about the fact that Kim Jong Il created the mode of army-first politics in the arduous period in which the country was at the crossroads: Defending socialism or becoming a slave of imperialism and has solved all the problems arising in the revolution and construction in reliance upon the powerful KPA.
The KPA is a strong army based on comradeship whose servicepersons are firmly united thanks to the army-first idea and will of Kim Jong Il and an invincible army which always emerges victorious as Kim Jong Il does.
The army-first banner of the Workers' Party of Korea is the banner of victory of Korean-style socialism which made the red flag of revolution vigorously flutter in this land and an everlasting banner of struggle which should always be held aloft as long as imperialism exists on the earth.
Kim Jong Il is the great successor to the lineage of Mt. Paektu and the tradition of army-first revolution and a staunch defender of socialism who emerges ever-victorious in the confrontation with imperialism.
The people's army and the people of Korea will glorify the exploits Kim Il Sung performed in the army building for all ages, guided by the army-first idea of Kim Jong Il and under his leadership, and accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche to completion with the might of the invincible army.
Minju Joson carries an editorial titled "The Korean people's army will demonstrate its honour of being the main force to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche."
