Koreans' long-standing eating habits
Pyongyang, May 31 (KCNA) -- Koreans' eating habits are long-standing.
Their national character is well preserved in arranging a table. It is their custom to have meals, seated on the floor around a low round table.
It is a very old custom for them to prepare a separate table for the aged as a token of respect for them. It is part of their etiquette that the young should have meals only after the old have begun taking meals.
They regard it as their courtesy to offer food to guests to begin with when they visit their families.
The diet of the Korean people is divided into ordinary diet and special one.
Main ordinary diet is boiled rice, soup and kimchi.
Koreans like boiled rice, dish prepared with five kinds of grains, boiled rice mixed with other cereals, glutinous rice mixed with sugar, dates, chestnuts, pine-nuts, sesame oil, etc., fried rice and so on.
Kimchi is one of the main non-staple foods for the Koreans.
Special diet includes rice cake, noodle, different roasts and a variety of special soups.
Pyongyang noodle is most popular among Koreans.
Sinsollo is a soup which comprises different kinds of foodstuffs.
Spoons and chopsticks are used by Koreans when eating food.
S. Korean military taxed for joining in anti-DPRK campaign
Pyongyang, May 31 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary lashes out at the South Korean military authorities for joining foreign forces in their moves for confrontation with the DPRK aimed to block Korea's reunification.
The military authorities are staging war exercises of various scales one after another in different parts of South Korea to launch invasion of the north after conducting with the U.S. military last April the "reception, staging, onward-movement and integration" exercise, a large-scale joint military drill under the simulated conditions of the invasion of the north. meanwhile, they are putting spurs to the arms buildup and the modernization of military hardware which is clearly evidenced by their recent purchase of up-to-date missile launchers.
South Korean military bosses including the "minister of national defense" do not bother to let loose a spate of belligerent outbursts that "cooperation system" with the U.S. should be further strengthened and the "idea of designating the north as the principal enemy" can never be changed.
These are unpardonable anti-national and anti-reunification crimes as they are aimed to antagonize their fellow countrymen and contain them by force of arms in conspiracy with outsiders.
The U.S. imperialists, by nature, are not desirous of peace and reunification process on the Korean peninsula. The new U.S. administration is keen to derail the hard-won inter-Korean dialogue and isolate and stifle the DPRK, pursuant to its anachronistic policy of confrontation.
By agitating confrontation and straining the situation on the Korean peninsula the U.S. imperialists mainly seek to invent a ground for their continued military presence in South Korea and realise their strategy to hold hegemony in the Asia-Pacific. Their loudmouthed fiction of "missile threat" from the north is aimed at establishing the "Missile Defense" system under the pretext of a "threat" from the DPRK in a bid to put the world under their domination.
However, the South Korean military authorities are working hard to tarnish the nation's dignity and sovereignty and hurt their fellow countrymen with sabre-rattling, while chiming in with the outsiders' policy to exterminate the nation and perpetuate its division.
If they opt to commit crimes against the nation and reunification in conspiracy with foreign aggressors, they will never escape a stern punishment by history.
Anniversary of Kim Il Sung's famous work observed
Pyongyang, May 31 (KCNA) --Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a signed article to the 15th anniversary of late President Kim Il Sung's famous work "The Historical Experience of Building the Workers' Party of Korea."
The work is a valuable treasure as it comprehensively deals with the immortal experience Kim Il Sung gained in party construction by setting an epoch-making example in building a revolutionary party in the era of independence and an important guideline to be consistently adhered to and strictly applied in the whole course of Juche-oriented party building, the article says, and continues:
What occupies a distinguished place in his immortal experience gained in party building is that he made a new history of building an independent party.
Holding aloft the banner of the Juche idea, Kim Il Sung solved all problems arising in party building by himself in keeping with the actual conditions of the country and the requirements of the Korean revolution.
It was the old practice of founding a working class party that groups of communists were formed with a few communist pioneers and on that basis a party center was organized and the foundation of the party proclaimed.
However, the president laid down the policy of building a party by organizing, first of all, grassroots party organizations based on broad popular masses and expanding and strengthening them.
This was a shining example of establishing Juche in carrying out the cause of founding a revolutionary party as it was a wise one that fully conformed with the actual conditions of Korea and the environment of the Korean revolution at that time.
After achieving the cause of founding a party independently the president adorned the whole course of party building for consolidating the Workers' Party of Korea organizationally and ideologically after its foundation as a history of independence.
Another immortal experience gained by Kim Il Sung in party building was that he strengthened and developed the wpk to be an invincible and militant party and built the party in a far-sighted manner so that it might confidently carry forward and complete the revolutionary cause of Juche through generations.
Guided by the Juche idea, Kim Il Sung laid down from a new angle basic theories and principles of working class party building and ways to materialize them, and comprehensively systematized the ideas and theories related to the Juche-based party building.
The ideas and theories have been instrumental in consolidating the WPK organizationally and ideologically, strengthening the blood ties with the popular masses and steadily enhancing its leadership role.
He not only founded the wpk and strengthened it into an invincible one but also laid with outstanding foresight a firm foundation for successfully carrying forward and accomplishing the party's cause.
He led all the party members and other people to hold in high esteem with loyalty leader Kim Jong Il possessed of noble revolutionary moral obligation and outstanding political ability.
The WPK is successfully advancing the revolutionary cause of Juche under his seasoned and tested leadership.
