Defectors to South Korea urged to return to road of reunification
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Those who betrayed the country and fled to South Korea should return to the fold of the nation and to the road of reunification, though belatedly, said Yu Thae Jun, former instructor of the Hamhung Coal Shop of the South Hamgyong Provincial Coal Management Bureau, at a press conference held here.
He came back to the DPRK via a third country shortly ago from South Korea to which he was tricked by the South Korean "Intelligence Service" into going.
As his case shows, the DPRK gives an opportunity of rebirth to those who committed any grave crimes in the past, not digging into their past, if they honestly admit and confess their wrongdoings, Yu said.
He noted:
Those who betrayed the country and fled to South Korea should clearly realize that their joining the South Korean "Intelligence Service" in its moves against the DPRK as its agents will only add to the crimes already committed by them and precipitate their self-destruction.
He elaborated on how he was taken to South Korea, what sort of examination and brain-washing he was forced to undergo by the is and the "Dae Sung Company", a camouflaged organ of the "defence security command," and what prompted him to come back to the DPRK.
He continued:
My betrayal of the country began with my visit to my mother's relatives in northeastern china after being tricked by Ri Kun Hyok, my half younger brother. My maternal uncle An Haeng Gyo, who was associated with the is, lured me into boarding a ship bound for Pusan.
What is agents sought in tricking me into going to South Korea was to dream up the lie that there are "refugees" in the DPRK in a bid to tarnish the daily mounting international prestige of the DPRK, calm down the South Korean people's desire for reunification in alliance with communism and the north and fan up hostility towards it.
I was told to engage myself in the anti-communist propaganda at the end of full-dress examination and brain-washing, but I refused to do so.
Unable to live any longer in the rotten South Korean society, a society with no future, I made up my mind to come back to the DPRK come what may.
Though I committed an indelible crime against the country I wanted to beg it to pardon me and have my body buried in my native home, after my death. this was my true feeling at that time.
At the end of several months' pain-staking efforts to escape from the South Korean society I succeeded in doing so, taking advantage of "international marriage."
Back to the fold of the DPRK, I visited a relevent organ to make a confession of my crime.
He added that there remains his little Son Yu Yun ho in South Korea.
At the press conference Yu and his wife Choe Jong Nam held that their son's going to South Korea was entirely a product of the anti-DPRK plot of the is. The South Korean authorities should send him back without delay to the north to enable him to reunite with his parents, they urged.

Resolution of joint meeting of DPRK political parties and organizations hailed
Moscow, June 10 (KCNA) -- The national salvation front of Russia issued a statement on June 5 in support of the resolution of a joint meeting of the DPRK political parties and organizations which was held to pave the way for reunification with the concerted efforts of the Korean nation.
The statement said that though a joint declaration squarely reflecting the will of all the Korean people to reunify the country independently was made public at the end of the Pyongyang meeting, its implementation is being delayed by the anti-reunification elements of the south side.
It noted that the U.S.-South Korea joint military exercises simulating attack on the DPRK show the south side's attitude towards the joint declaration.
The statement fully supported the resolution made at the joint meeting of the DPRK political parties and organizations calling for conducting a nationwide movement for promotion of national reunification from June 15, the anniversary of the publication of the historic Pyongyang declaration, to August 15.
It extended solidarity to the participants in the nationwide movement for promotion of Korea's reunification and expressed expectation that their struggle would make a substantial contribution to the cause of national reunification.
GIs' atrocities brought to light
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Brian Becker, chairman of the U.S. Get Out of Korea Committee, contributed to the U.S. newspaper workers world an article on the testimony given by witnesses in North Korea to GIs' crimes in the Korean War (1950-1953).
He visited Korea as a member of the international group for probing the truth behind GIs' atrocities led by former U.S. attorney general Ramsey Clark in May last.
The article said that the United States, unable to realise its dream of occupying North Korea, decided to use nuclear weapons. The U.S. option to use nuclear weapons proved that it had no slightest moral compunction about massacres against civilians, stressed the article.
It said in detail that the fact-finding group inspected the Sinchon Museum and met survivals from the GIs' murderous atrocities.
Sanctions are a crime against humankind, the article said, quoting Ramsey Clark as saying that the United States uses food and medicines as weapons against North Korea and the occupation of South Korea by the U.S. troops is a violation of the basic right of the Korean people.

Japanese prime minister's remarks under fire
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The solidarity for implementing the south-north joint declaration in South Korea issued a statement on may 31 as regards Japanese prime minister Junichiro Koizumi's remarks about "prime minister's visit to the Yasukuni Shrine," according to a news report.
The statement said that his remarks were prompted by a meticulous plan and intention for militarist rearmament and that prime minister's "visit to the shrine" is little different from declaration of a war against the Asian people.
the statement continued:
Koizumi should not visit graves of militarists but so many places in Asia where the grudge of those who fell victim to their aggression and massacres is still heard.
what japan should do forthwith is to truly apologize for its shameful history and sincerely come out to dialogue with North Korea and other countries where damages have not yet been paid.
The solidarity strongly calls upon all the fellow countrymen to unite in the struggle for getting compensation from Japan and checking the revival of militarism.

U.S. taxed with MD and its stand on "Kyoto protocol"
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Many countries are unanimous in denouncing the U.S. moves to establish the adventurous "Missile Defense" system and its wrong attitude toward the "Kyoto protocol" on the prevention of global warming, says Minju Joson today in a signed commentary.
The U.S. "allies" in particular are taking the lead in condemning the U.S. for its MD and its attitude toward the protocol, the commentary notes, and goes on:
Recently a U.S. senator seceded from the republican party in protest against the Bush administration's policy, depriving the party of its position as a majority party in the senate.
This deplorable position of the U.S. is an inevitable outcome of the U.S. high-handed and isolationist policy.
The same is true of the Bush administration's DPRK policy.
Mandarins of the bush administration are still maintaining a hardline attitude toward the DPRK, clamouring about the non-existent "threat" from it. This goes to prove that the present bush administration is a group of warmongers.
The DPRK is ready to react to the U.S. "hardline policy" and will never allow the u.s. conservative forces to encroach upon our dignity and sovereignty even a bit.
The U.S. is well advised to ponder over the ensuing consequences.
