U.S. and S. Korean troops to stage joint mine warfare exercise
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialist aggression forces will stage a joint mine warfare exercise for a war of aggression in the sea off Pusan on July 10 and 11 together with the South Korean army, according to Seoul-based Yonhap News.
The exercise will be participated in by the U.S. navy's only mine battle flagship "Inchon" carrying more than 1,400-strong naval force and minelayers and minesweepers of the South Korean navy.
A high-ranking official of South Korea said on July 8 that the exercise is aimed to cope with the enemy army's blockade of ports by large-scale minelaying and that this is the first entry into South Korean port and participation in the drill of 18,000-ton warship "Inchon" capable of carrying such equipment as various kinds of transport and attack helicopters for landing operations and over 2,000-strong landing forces.
U.S.-Japan joint statement for military nexus under fire
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and conversed with the Chinese goodwill delegation led by vice-chairman Jiang Chunyun of the standing committee of the national people's congress, on a visit to the DPRK to participate in celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the signing of the DPRK-China treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall yesterday.
Present there were minister of public health Kim Su Hak, chairman of the central committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association, and others and Wang Guozhang, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK.
Jiang Chunyun said that they came to the DPRK carrying with them the feelings of the Chinese people's friendship towards the Korean people, adding that the China-DPRK treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance signed by premier Zhou Enlai and President Kim Il Sung has demonstrated its great vitality for the past 40 years.
Noting that Jiang Zemin and Kim Jong Il are paying deep attention to the China-DPRK friendship, he said this shows solid relations of friendship between China and the DPRK.
He expressed the belief that the delegation's visit to the DPRK would contribute to developing the friendly relations between the two countries.
Yang Hyong Sop meets Chinese goodwill delegation
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comments on a "joint statement" issued by the new chief executives of the United States and Japan at the end of their huddle during their first summit held in Camp David toward the end of June.
The statement dealt with such issues as reconfirming the U.S.-Japan alliance as a "cornerstone for peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region," strengthening "consultation" over the Asia-Pacific and other region, implementing the "Japan-U.S. defence cooperation guidelines," intensifying discussions at all levels to take more measures for "security cooperation," strengthening the Japan-U.S. alliance, establishing an "all-inclusive strategy" to cope with a sort of "threat" and attaching importance to a joint research into the "Theatre Missile Defense" system (TMD), etc.
Dismissing the statement as a document for aggression and a war, the signed commentary continues:
Reconfirming the Japan-U.S. alliance as a "cornerstone of peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region" in the "joint statement" discloses their intention to further strengthen the U.S.-Japan military nexus and use their military alliance for aggression of Asia. Their military nexus is mainly targeted against the DPRK. This is clearly evidenced by the fact that the command system of military operation of the U.S. and Japanese forces has been coordinated and their joint operation plan worked out to cope with "emergency" on the Korean peninsula.
The U.S. and Japanese chief executives agreed to establish an "all-inclusive strategy" and carry out a joint research into TMD in a bid to cope with a sort of "threat." lurking behind this is their intention to have a military edge in the region and step up their aggressive Asian strategy.
"Security" on their lips means "security measures" to realise their ambition for aggression in a bid to put the Asian countries under their political and military control.
The U.S. and Japan's loudmouthed "security" is little short of their call for aggression.
Gift to Kim Jong Il
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a gift from the head of the Chinese goodwill delegation.
It was handed to Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, on July 9 by Jiang Chunyun, member of the political bureau of the central committee of the Communist Party of China and vice-chairman of the standing committee of the national people's congress of the People's Republic of China, who is heading the Chinese goodwill delegation on a visit to Korea.
U.S.-S. Korea "military cooperation" slammed
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson today in a signed commentary urges the U.S. conservatives to immediately stop their anti-DPRK "military cooperation" with South Korea.
They became more vociferous about the so-called "military alliance" between the United States and South Korea and the strengthened "military posture to cope with the threat of North Korea" with the recent U.S. junket of the South Korean minister of defence as a momentum.
This clearly shows once again that the u.s. call for the tightened U.S.-South Korea military nexus is aimed to stifle the DPRK at any cost.
By floating the story about "military cooperation" they seek to support the Bush administration's "hard-line policy towards the DPRK" with force and put pressure upon it to wrest a sort of "political concession" from it.
Their "military cooperation" aimed to attain something through military "pressure" to bear upon the DPRK cannot be construed otherwise than their foolish attempt prompted by a short-sighted way of thinking.
The anti-DPRK "military cooperation" between the United States and South Korea is pushing the DPRK-U.S. relations to fresh confrontation, not to "dialogue" or "negotiations," and seriously disturbing peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.
It is the firm conviction and will of the Korean people and people's army to deal a telling blow to the united states until the root cause of aggression is removed and reliably defend the dignity and sovereignty of the country if it opts to realize its wild ambition at any cost.
The United States should bear in mind that neither U.S. military pressure nor threat can work on the DPRK and it does not allow any slightest concession as far as the issue of defending the country's sovereignty and national dignity is concerned.
