He noted with great satisfaction that the officials and working people in the province successfully carried out the vast project in a short span of time, and highly praised their feats. All the sectors and units should continue to pay attention to pisciculture as developing it is an important work to make people's diet more affluent, he said.

Then, he moved on to the Poman power station.
Looking round its inside and dam, he acquainted himself in detail with the construction and operation of the station.
He expressed great satisfaction at the successfully built station capable of turning out electricity in all seasons, and advanced tasks to be carried out for its operation.
He also urged the province to complete at an early date the construction of the Ryesonggang power station and other stations under way and all the cities and counties to work hard to tap all water resources and build more power stations.

Release of spokeswoman of south headquarters of Pomchonghakryon urged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- Reunification movement organizations of South Korea reportedly made public statements on July 8 and 9, condemning the Seoul city police authorities for arresting on July 8 Hwang Son, a spokeswoman of the south headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon), who had conducted just activities to implement the June 15 joint declaration. The anti-reunification conservative forces, threatened by the growing desire for independent reunification, walked her away in a bid to crack down on the pro-reunification patriotic forces and put down the aspirations of the patriotic people for reunification in South Korea, said the south headquarters of Pomchonghakryon.
The South Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) said that the authorities did not revise even a word of the "Security Law" over one year after the publication of the declaration but rather walked away a representative member of the reunification movement organisation for trio solidarity of students in south, north and abroad, which casts doubt on their will to implement the declaration.
The solidarity for implementation of the south-north joint declaration said that it would more vigorously struggle for the rescue of Hwang Son and abolition of the "Security Law" shoulder to shoulder with all the pro-reunification patriotic forces in paving the way for reunification by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation.
The unification solidarity for implementation of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration and peace on the Korean peninsula stressed that it would vigorously advance along the road of reunification, the road of implementing the declaration indicated by the 70 million fellow countrymen.

KCNA slams U.S. for inventing absurd pretext for MD

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- The United States has invented an absurd pretext to establish the controversial "Missile Defence" system (MD) at any cost. An adviser to the U.S. Secretary of Defense at a press conference held in Tokyo on July 9 said that missile defense is necessary to force North Korea, Iran, Iraq and other countries to give up the missile development in a bid to justify the U.S. administration's moves to establish the adventurous MD.
His remark once again underscoring the U.S. stance related to the MD is nothing but very despicable and shameless sophism intended to tone down the world-wide denunciation of the MD.
As the international community contends, the U.S. keen to have an unchallenged position as the "only superpower" in the world is working hard to establish the MD in a bid to make the nuclear deterrents of Russia, China and other countries powerless. The U.S. refrains from hurting the feelings of big countries as far as possible but accuses those countries it considers to be small and weak of "missile development" in a bid to cite what it called "threat" from them as a pretext for pushing the MD.
This is required by the U.S. to seek understanding of the MD from its allies and other big powers and establish it as fast as possible.
The U.S. is known to be the biggest possessor of the most powerful sophisticated nuclear and conventional armed forces. it is, therefore, a height of folly for Washington to take issue with self-reliant defence capabilities of small countries and cite them as a pretext for establishing the MD.
In a word, the U.S. is so naive to use "threat" from small countries as a pretext for achieving its strategic aim to contain big powers in the Asia-Pacific region.

Last autograph of President Kim Il Sung

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- There is a monument on which the letters "Kim Il Sung July 7, 1994" are engraved in Panmunjom, Kaesong city of the DPRK near the Military Demarcation Line. It is called the monument to the autograph of President Kim Il Sung on reunification.
Those letters are the last autograph Kim Il Sung signed on a document related to the country's reunification in his lifetime.
The president took the national division to heart more than anyone else from its very day after the country's liberation in 1945. He put forward the most reasonable and realistic policies and proposals for the country's reunification in every period and at every stage of the developing revolution and energetically worked for their realization.
He set forth the three principles of national reunification--independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity -- in 1972, a proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo in 1980 and the 10-point programme of great unity of the whole nation in 1993. And he initiated the north-south summit talks in Juche 83 (1994), thus opening a bright vista for reunification.
He devoted his heart and soul to the preparations for the talks to make them successful so that they might open a decisive phase of the country's reunification and bring a reunified country to the Korean people.
He worked day and night without rest for the success of the projected historic talks. He examined a document related to the talks past midnight, unaware that there was downpour on the night of July 7.
But his heart unexpectedly ceased to beat after he wrote nine letters "Kim Il Sung July 7, 1994" on the front page of the document.
This autograph is a clear proof of his indefatigable efforts and total dedication to the cause of the country's reunification.

Day of Sea observed

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- Today marks the Day of Sea. The DPRK set the day President Kim Il Sung organized the DPRK hydrographic bureau as the Day of Sea and July and august as months of sea. Various maritime activities are brisk in the country on the occasion of the day of sea and the months of sea in conformity with the actual conditions of the maritime country and the trends of the world which greeted the 21st century as a century of sea.
These activities include the dissemination of oceanic knowledge, scientific and technological exchange and a variety of political activities to know about sea better, successfully conserve, develop and use inexhaustible mineral, aquatic and energy resources in sea and prevent sea pollution, and various sports and cultural events.
The institutions concerned including the hydrographic bureau, the Ministry of Land and Marine Transport, the Ministry of Fisheries and the Hydro-Meteorological Service are intensifying such research work as maritime survey and observation and activities to readjust and reinforce the material and technical means.
Industrial establishments and schools are organizing swimming competitions and other maritime sports events and visits to lighthouses, wharfs, etc., to prepare working people and school youth and children as brave sea conquerors.
The schools in the inland regions are focusing on the education to help students broaden their knowledge about sea.

U.S.-S. Korea joint mine warfare maneuver flailed

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today comments on a recent joint mine warfare maneuver staged by the United States and South Korea in its waters under the pretext of "coping with port blockade by north Korean large-scale mine-laying operation". The commentary says:
The U.S. navy's only mine-warfare command ship "Inchon" took part in the exercise for the first time and mine-laying ships and mine-sweepers of the South Korean navy were also involved there.
Battleship "Inchon" of the 18,000 ton-class is capable of carrying on board transport and attack helicopters of various types and other equipment and more than 2,000 soldiers for landing operation.
This clearly proves that the U.S. stance of regarding the DPRK as its "principal enemy" remains unchanged and it is stepping up its preparations to realize ambition to stifle the DPRK with strength, while talking about "dialogue" with it.
The bellicose forces of the bush administration claim that the exercise was to "cope with port blockade" by someone.
But this is nothing but a subterfuge to hide the offensive and dangerous nature of their war exercise.
Such reckless move of the u.s. as posing a military threat to the DPRK through sabre-rattling while talking about the "resumption of talks" compels the DPRK to attach greater importance to the military affairs and steadily increase its self-reliant defence capability.
The U.S. continued pursuance of the hostile policy toward the DPRK to stifle it will only make the will of the DPRK to strengthen its armed forces stronger in defence of the sovereignty of the country and the dignity of the nation.
